Boarding NCL Encore to ALASKA!! NCL Test Cruise

- Alaska is open for 2021!! This is exciting as we were not sure if the Alaska season would be possible with Canada closing their borders and ports... but we are back and able to sail from Seattle.
We are doing a test cruise for NCL. What is a test cruise you ask? It is a non-revenue sailing where the crew can test out all of the new protocols to make sure all runs smoothly next week when paying customers get onboard... so we don't mind being the guinea pigs!
Our sailing is a 4-day to Ketchikan, Alaska and back. So what did we have to do to board? All passengers are 100% vaccinated, even kids. We had to show proof of vaccination AND take a rapid test upon arrival which was paid for by the cruise line. Once your test comes back negative, you are allowed to board. But the good thing about all this is once you are onboard, no masks are required anywhere onboard!!
We had a GREAT sailaway party and caught a beautiful sunset over the Pacific. Sailing away from Seattle is breathtaking!

Watching you guys getting back on to an NCL ship brought a happy tear to my eyes, I can’t wait to cruise again. We feel at home on their ships too. Alaska cruise is my an ultimate on my bucket list!
Spiritual is the word I used for my 2 Alaska cruises. I was so happy to hear Jason say he felt the same way. You guys just get better with each video. I felt like I boarded right along side you. I will be boarding the Encore in 101 days. And I am getting one of those sandwiches!!!

I did the Haven on the Norwegian bliss in a lack to Alaska in June 2019 first cruise I’ve ever been on I figured it would be the only one I would ever go so I splurged and did the Haven and it has now ruined me because now when I plan cruises which I can’t even tell you how many got canceled last year I think like 20. I found it so hard going to a regular cabin just because of what the Haven offers it’s not necessarily saying that you’re better than anyone else . It’s just what it offers and I’m a person I don’t like a lot of hoopla and silliness I just like tranquility and a place that I can be with the lore and actually have a true vacation
Hey I don’t know if y’all have heard or not but I also follow Don family vacation and he reported some really sad news about Alaska five people and the pilot on a single engine plane went down it wasn’t an excursion with the Cruise line they went outside the cruise line but like you said that doesn’t matter

Since you like seeing a city behind you as you cruise, do a New York City departure from NCL. It sails from midtown out past Statue of Liberty.
We sail to Bermuda in September on the ncl breakaway, just hoping it continues to sail.
I was supposed to be heading to Bermuda on the Encore from NY andddddddd three times cancelled thanks to C19!

Jason, you're moving videography is so smooth! And the two of you harmonize so beautifully to give the whole experience. Looks like the embarkation process would be a challenge for the mobility impaired (at least, those for whom walking isn't easy). Looking forward to meeting you on the vloggers cruise in 2023!

I’ve only been on one cruise and I went to Alaska on the 12th and it is absolutely exactly what Jason said to say God created him and to be able to smell the air the smell is so fresh and clean and you just can’t put that in a bottle going to Alaska and was unbelievable
I’ve been to Seattle! Loved it. Buffet on a cruise is definitely the best. Last time I was on a cruise was in 2010 for a family reunion. We set sail to Maine & Prince Edward Island. It was my dream of mine to visit Prince Edward Island since I love Anne of Green Gables. We had a wonderful time. After that I was busy studying in London for my BA & Masters in Film. I’ll be back traveling when the pandemic is over or it’s safe. For now I’m happy filming Disney magic at Walt Disney World. Love following along your adventures. Can’t wait for your next vlog. we're going to carribbean in March and Barcelona/Mediterrarean in Sept. But That Alaska trip was the one we had to cancel last year, so I'm game for getting that scheduled again.

When restrictions are lifted you need to sail to Alaska from Vancouver - it is the best city I have visited ever - so beautiful. You will love it - the last 2 cruises we sailed to Alaska we had 3 days in Vancouver beforehand and we still need to explore more of it!!

Sometimes we feel we take it for granted....seeing the mountains, oceans and rivers everyday but I can promise you, it never gets boring. We love having our great US neighbours visiting us and hopefully we'll see you again real soon.

NCL is DA BOMB!!! We will be on the Encore out of Miami 11/14/21. CANT WAIT!!!! Since our 3/29/20 cruise was cancelled we havent been cruising since 2019. We are soooo ready. Love NCL and first time on Encore. Enjoy!!

Was on the Encore last week , great times were had. We tested at the port. Took exactly 30 minutes from test and wristband.

Only difference aside from updated decor on Encore is Bliss doesn’t have the galaxy pavilion game area, and Encore doesn’t have spice h2o adult lounge in the back of the ship like Bliss does have.

Is this your 3rd cruise? Since June? How do you afford so many?
We arrived in Seattle the same day you did. We saw the Encore when we went to Pikes Peak Market. We boarded the Carnival Miracle for our 7 day free cruise. My 3rd time to Alaska and my daughters first. We had yucky weather in Juneau and Skagway. Still got off the ship and did our excursions. We were in Ketchikan on the 8th and had beautiful weather. Ketchikan has never disappointed us weather wise. So sad about the plane crash. We sailed at 70% and no daily temps or anything. Self service Buffett and they did not verify that anyone washed their hands or sanitized. That bothered me a bit. Best part of our cruise was our excursion to Tracy Arm Fjord. Amazing!! 😄

The Seattle Marriott Waterfront is a wonderful hotel. We will be staying there next June before our cruise to Alaska on the Encore.
