- It is our first sea day on our way to Alaska and we are in the open Pacific and the seas are a bit rough... but we do not let this deter us from enjoying our day! We do a bit of shopping in the onboard stores as we were on the last Alaskan sailing of the season so there are some great deals!!! But mostly we just enjoy a relaxing day... walking sideways down the hall... At one point we could hear the ship creaking right next to a picture of an ice burg... ummm, that was a bit unnerving!!!

Just stumbled onto your Blog. I have been on 3 cruises to Alaska. I fell in love with Alaska. We were on the bottom of the ship in the crew section. My mom worked as a Bridge Director( playing card tournaments) and I went as her assistant. We had rough seas one day and the water was crashing up against the little window. Pretty scary. Have fun. watch for whales.
I like a little rough seas, there is something relaxing about it especially when you are sleeping. Cruising the end of the season is amazing for deals, even at the ports you will be able to get stuff for cheap. I ended up having to get stuff shipped because I bought too much :)

Last one of the season.. Who would have thought it would be the last one for 2 years. :-( :-( :-( We went not the last one of the season too a few years ago and it was a lot of fun and lots of great sales.
We had seas like that on a sailing from Galveston once. In fact it was rocking so hard it woke my son (and roomie) up at around 2 am. Conversation: You awake? yeah. Wanna go check it out? YEAH! And off we went to deck 3 at 2 am. RUN TO THE DANGER! :D
We have an Alaska trip booked for next year and we chose to go out of Toronto because I was told the water is calmer. Your video really backs up how rough it can be leaving from Seattle.

The first 3 days were like what you showed, it felt like riding a roller coaster, we didn't get sea sick, held onto the wall a couple of times. Saw lots of white caps on the sea. Waves came up high. That cool sea air was so invigorating. The last sea day back to San Francisco was warm and sunny. Loved going to Alaska, we already booked another cruise for next year out of Vancouver. Thanks for sharing

The waves! The waves! That's the ride you paid for! We have done Alaska a couple of years ago and returning we had waves like that. I got seasick because it lasted like 8 hours. Once I tossed my cookies I was fine . We are going again in July. Can't wait to see more of your experiences in Alaska. It is one of the most popular cruises and now you know why. Thanks for sharing!

I loved loved this vlog!!! Thanks for sharing so much!! I am so excited for our Alaskan Bliss cruise next May '20. We sailed on NCL Pearl 4 yrs ago in Alaska & had NO rough seas! We cruised this past Feb'19 eastern Carribean & they had bags on the railings 1st night- RCL gave us a plate of sliced green apples to take back to the room- DEFINITELY helped for seas sickness. Refrig was stocked w/gr apples rest of the cruise- LOL

I loved my Alaskan cruise we took years ago in May. It was like Spring in Toronto. Sun most days and wore a light jacket. One day of light drizzle. It was beautiful. I do want to go again. I was the last person off deck when we went to the glaciers,. The colours were spectacular. It s a great agenda.

I had one of those rough seas during 2005 while cruising Alaska. The forward and aft was really moving up and down. So I went to the library, grabbed a chair and enjoyed the ride...

An Alaskan cruise is on our bucket list but wow those seas are rough! I hope they won't make Brian sick. He doesn't get sick in the Caribbean, but as you said nothing as rough as that! What a great deal on those jackets!
We were on the very last sailing of the season (last week in September). If you go during the summer it shouldn’t be a problem. You have to go, it is unbelievably beautiful!!

Our Pacific ocean is a bugger sometimes..She'll be great one day and not so next.. :) but I love her as for the creaking..you get used to it . its normal with seas like that..cause if its creaking like that in those seas its all good lol.. ours waves were twice as big on many cruises.. and this one was not different. pretty rough at times ..glad you enjoyed though. Waves are great to watch when theyre like that..

We didn't "lounge" in the atrium as we preferred the observation lounge. Much quieter. We spent a lot of time just chillin'. The fish n chips at the Local are great! So glad you filmed this!

That's a smooth October day on the North Pacific. I spent 13 years sailing out of Victoria with the Canadian Navy and that would have been considered a great Navy day. 30' seas and 60 knot winds are what we normally get this time of year.
Thank you for this video. I need to bring all my precautions for sea sickness for my Alaska cruise in May/June. I had 1 bad sea sickness experience going to Eastern Caribbean. Great shopping deals.

Dramamine makes you get very sleepy. I got the wristbands on the ship, in the store. Wristbands work great and no sleepiness.
Weve done the wrist bands before but the boys didn’t want them this time!
My daughter and i went swimming on our sea day on our Alaska cruise in mid Sept. We got the craziest looks from ppl. But we had fun. Of course we both wear rash gaurds which are insulated but hea.

Alaskan cruises are seasonal. This was the last Alaskan sailing of the season for that ship.

Does it get scary with the waves, and all the rocking on such a big ship? I've been on a very rocky Princess Cruise to Alaska, but it was a much smaller ship. Im so nervous for our August 2023 trip on the Bliss. We go the 3rd week, hoping we won't hit the bad weather at that time of year. LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS, big fan. XO
We went on our first cruise July 2019 and when we were coming back we were riding right with hurricane Barry.....10 foot waves.....I honestly had nightmares for a couple months after lol never got sick though sooooo that’s a plus!!

Planing a cruise in July on the Bliss. How is the rockiness? Staying midship.
Those waves are almost as bad as the ones we had last December in the Bahamas. I haven't been on a totally calm cruise yet. But the waves don't seem to bother us. Alaska is on our list!

If you sail the inside passage departing from Vancouver , BC it’s not as rocky as departing from Seattle.
What time of year did you guys sail? My family will be on the Bliss in September and I was wondering how rough the sea conditions might be.

I was on the last carnival just a few day’s before your sailing. We had 15 foot swells we were deck 7 front of the ship. You really feel the drops and hear the creaking at the front . Lol

The last sailing was 9/17/19 10 day out of Vancouver BC. Looks like we boarded right after you.
You have to buy seasickness med on NCL? On Royal you just ask at Guest Services and they had little packets with a couple doses. Nice rain jackets!
After I bought it I found out they had some at guest services. But it was ok, only $10 and I had a whole box in my cabin if needed.

The sea was very similar when we went to Bermuda from Charleston. My husband and I had to hold on to the walls to walk down the hallway. It was crazy, lots of sick people.

That's a normal day in the Pacific be glad your not on a 60 foot boat!
It always tickles me to think that Magellan named that ocean The Pacific because it means peaceful. You know. The ocean where all of the surfing (large waves) is so prevalent? LOL
On our Alaskan cruise creaking was almost constant throughout the whole ship.
I have a question. I have never been on a cruise. But do they feed the teens when they are at the kids club? Do the kids get to pick what they wanna eat when they are there. I have picky eaters so I was curious about this. Or do you have to go get them to feed them?
Teens can come and go from the clubs. No food is served ‘in’ the clubs but they can check themselves out to go eat when they like.

Didn't look that rough but the camera can have a flattening effect. Been in very heavy seas before crossing the English Channel and I loved it, but then I do not get sick. Other members of my family were not so lucky.

I was following your ship from Seattle to Juneau on a ship tracker www.cruisin.me/cruise-ship-tracker/ it does go off track on and off but it was fun to watch and am surprised that your route was outside off shore till your ship turned in to channels then to Juneau, and there is a on board ship webcam running 24/7 and I see you guys have rough sea days, the ship Bliss have an on board stabilizer that helps reduce the roll motion on the ship, hoped it works well for you guys. Enjoyed the Vlog.

Alaska is not the Caribbean. But ship and water are always a great couple

Yes, you can use the app also. It won't update on your phone until you have data again but when they scan the barcode they can see if you have enough funds or not.
