first time I tried this, I held my breath for 5 minutes. I know the duration doesn’t matter but I share this because it blew my mind
Squeezing all of your body starting at the pelvis all the way up your spine into your head on the recovery breath is a game changer
Absolutely, I discvered Breathing with Sandy on YT like one and a half year ago and my breathing game went to another level.
@jakeboroje Dr Joe Dispenza made this popular. How long u have been doing and what are the benefits ?
The great man embracing his Japanese heritage and bringing it to us. Some solid observations offering a delightful appendium to Wim's method. ty brother.
Just did my daily breathing excercise.... and Really tried to implement the given you shared in this video: It did make the difference.
Learning never stops. 🙏🌞
Great! Applied knowledge - that's how it's done
Beutiful. Once eckart told me not to try and fill the gaps! They are there for moments of awareness. It's amazing how the little things change your whole perspective, during my breath hold, thoughts subside and awareness hightens. Some moments of pure presence happen which of course once you acknowledge, are gone but in time these moments last for longer. It's magical. Even a few concious breaths during the day can bring you to the present moment, if you feel you are too busy to take a concious breath then that's madness. Lovely video great information.
and we cannot think of 2 things at once. That's power. Nice Ecky reference. ty
It has been a complete journey since I started to practice the method.
I don't know how many times I've rediscovered my self, including going deeper in things that I usually try to not think/feel, and then understand it.
Everyday can be a whole new experience with the breathing and I can assure that you had guided me aswell. I felt that i've learned or understanded something in every video of yours. The ideia of missing the soul in the practice really gets me, because this is what really changed after a time practicing and you channel helped a lot for me to see it. Thank you, Kitaro!
Cant tell you how much i appreciate this video 🙏🏼
This was not only helpful but also very interesting. Thanks!
Very impressive video! Shows mastery of focal length and lighting, informative, concise, and well articulated. Subscribed!
Thankyou for this advice and passing on your knowledge, it came for me at the most perfect of times 🙏. I subbed to your channel a few months ago but never watched any of your videos, apart from the initial one that prompted me to sub. This week I started the Wim Hoff method after many months of laziness and negative attitude, even though I have abused my lungs for over 2 decades. With the first signs of spring, a positive heart and mindset and now your inspirational video/ channel content, I am going to turn this thing around! I am very grateful and send you and yours love and light whilst looking forward to your older and future content. 💚🙏
If it helped you to get back into a breathwork practice, all the better!
One thing I noticed from a very brief and mediocre attempt at the breath technique is how clear my vision was after.
Seen sooo many people say this
For me, it's the colors that seem brighter and more saturated.
That happens to me after microdosing with truffles, very cool.
@@chokysenge haha oh yeah, clear vision is an understatement for psilocybin
Me too
This is just beautiful. I'm a big lover of the Wim Hof method, and certainly resonate with your message and heart here. THANK YOU 🌎
Thank you for watching - yes the WHM is really powerful!
Perhaps one of your most interesting and informative videos so far Kitaro! You explain everything in such a calm and collected manner☺I really felt the part where you talk about how we always feel like we have to be productive or entertained. The breathing really helped me to just "be and exist".
Thank you
Wow, thank you! Thank you so much for the nice comment! You do great stuff too - keep it up!
So true and tangible ..... there's so much more to discover of ourselves .
Great to listen to this, and as always informative and reassuring.
I adopted a new way of living also thanks to your tuition...
Very grateful.
Thank you Kitaro

Thanks for watching, Michael🙏
Thank you
This made a lot of sense.
I really enjoy doing the WHM
Gorgeous video man that was a beautiful watch thanks for making that 🙏🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the slow breathing, no music one you have...its the obe that allows me to sink into myself. Thank you
Which vid is the one u mentioned

Very informative video… you’re selfless energy is really inspiring
I appreciate that!
Amen I can feel that!!!
Great explanation! Your voice transmits calmness..
Thanks for the advice, my routine had been a bit stagnant since I was being very rote. Exactly what I needed, to put my soul into it!
Glad it was helpful. I have some guided videos as well, they can also be helpful to some.
Nice video kitaro as always.
Thanks!
Many thanks! I am amazed by and thankful for your insight to deepening practice.
You're welcome!
Very thankful for this video! Thanks dude, cleared a few of my suspicions up. Where would we be with each other to learn from!
Thanks, Kitaro......!
That is awesome am good to go .Thank you so much Kitara
Pleasure
Thanks a lot for the video. I've been doing wim hof before Covid. To me is a starter of the day. And multiple times I've wondered about breathing with consciousness before the practice. I shall try in a moment.
Love this!
Thank you. This is very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
That was great insight to be more mindful with purpose when doing this practice. 🙏
I think this channel is just wonderful
People like you, Wim, help so many people, and make a massive difference to so many lives, more so than you can possibly imagine.
Would be nice one day to do an advance Wim Hof breath work session with long hold times, sometimes I'm finding I'm having to pause the video while the breathhold section is playing, as sometimes my breathhold can last in the later rounds to 4, 5 minutes
Keep up the beautiful channel you have, thanks for all you do 🙏🏼
Wow, thank you! What breath hold times would you wish for in a guided session?
How about a longer one like the one with 10 rounds?
maybe 15 rounds like that:
1:00, 1:30 x2, 2:00 x3, 2:30 x4, 3:00 x5
Would be fantastic! What do you think?
Thank you @@KitaroWaga
Very interesting as always. Liked very much this concept of negative space
thanks.
Spaciousness! Or Spaciousless! Thank you Kitaro😊
My pleasure
This is very useful information. Thank you.
Great advice, thanks.
It's like knowing the path without knowing where you are (: I liked that analogy
Thank you!!
This is why I add meditation, QiGong, yoga and holotropic breath work to my practice. You can also engage the Bhandas when doing wim hof, or if you suffer anxiety like me, try staying calm during the breath holds. I agree with this video, I may try bringing more awareness to my daily wim hof breathing. Breathing is 1/5 of my practices so we must cover all the bases.
I stopped doing meditation and started doing win hof and I feel better personally
@@adamgoudreau7069 I do both.
This was an amazing speech full of passion but so calm
Thank you
ty for being
Dealing with anxiety attacks now and then… so I tried wim hoff breathing technique and after 10 mins when I was holding my breath I felt like I am floating… it scared me though… but nevertheless it’s amazing breathing technique… blessed to have found it 👏
Thank you
thx for watching
It very much like the kundalini yoga breath and meditation 🧘♂️ and is best done in the beginning with guidance, because you can get strong changes in your mind and body ❤❤❤❤❤
Is it good for high blood pressure and tahycardia as well?
I do your advanced guided Wim Hof breathwork video nearly every morning, though I admit I skip ahead to the second round to make it quicker, so I don't spend as much time on this noticing my normal breathing aspect. 🙃
So this is a good reminder :)
Greatvideo Top notch
So I for whatever reason thought I had to expel every single oxygen molecule out of my lungs, and I did that every single time for months some of the experiences I had were extremely profound while others created paralysis in my pinking ring fingers. I figured it was just my circulation, correcting itself or some strange phenomena but I just recently realized Wim Hof never said to do that, and you don’t have to get all of the oxygen out of your lungs. You just let the last in breath go and hold still leaves like a sixth air in the lungs for me. When I first started Wim Hof breathing I went all the way in and would breathe out all of my airfor the retention, there was crazy, profound effects, more intense than when I held onto my breath❤
That’s incredible if you were still able to do the holds after forcing all the oxygen out of your lungs!
It's a common misunderstanding.
Thanks for this as that’s what I’ve been doing . I’ve found also that on last inhale before your exhale hold that if you inhale as much as you can and then a few sips more then pull in diaphragm and squeeze your core that you get a more release of DMT it would seem and a great calmness and connection comes over you. Need to be careful through as you can become very disoriented.
Love this channel and kitaro is a true humble man a master teacher
Is this the same as Tummo Breathing? It seems very similar, if not the same. If it's different, can you explain the differences?
Thank you very much. Please explain why the breathing should not be done near water.
I've been trying to do the hemi-sync and WHBT and I've recently quit nicotine and cannabis. I'd like to stop coffee soon as well. I dont think these by them selves are bad, I just don't like being controlled by these substances and having to set my day or schedule around these substances. I've struggled with self regulation with all those substances so I think its time to move on.
I also recently got dumped (shes young, still has some growing to do and seems like she's depressed. I'd like to help her as I've been in her position before but she wants to go it alone 🤷🏻♂️)
So it's been very interesting experiencing all these emotions "raw dog" lol
Its been a couple days now and im aight. I was single and celibate for 3yrs so ill just go back to that lol I've been in and out of love multiple times so I'm not worried :)
Be well brother. Happy for you.
I have like 3 weeks feeling the blood flow on one side of my head when I'm about to finish the breathing...
I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing...
Please help.
Everytime I try my neck and traps just ache so bad any reasons why ?
I’ve done various breathing exercises for years, so Wim Hof’s method has been easy and effective for me.
Yep, it's powerful!
Thank you, this was very helpful! I noticed, though, that I have a hard time focusing on your words through the loud music. Isn't the so-called background music, in many video's nowadays, a great example of this need to fill the open spaces? I deeply admire and appreciate your work, but I cannot use most of your breathwork video's because of it... I would love it when there would be some without background noise...
Well, there many things I would wish were a little different. But in order to get my videos to viewers, I need to play the game of TH-cam. But I'm the same as you, I prefer doing my breathwork without music. On my Breath Mind Body Academy I have many videos without music 😉
Ahh thank you! Good to know that you offer them there (I was hoping for that)
Thanks :)
Welcome!
I would lite you too actually talk about how to improve the breathwork rather than how breathing normally works... maybe the other videos has it in them but wierd video for me personally, really interested in finding out if I can improve in my meditation but this video is not for that
I like seeing some yes theory content on this! Haha
You might try holding the final breath pressing into the head reversing hold the exhale careful extremely powerful
I do that and I also squeeze pelvic floor muscles after the 40th breath before the retention and the recovery breath is also met with the same locks. I always go out of this world with these techniques
Not recommended for beginners and also no proven benefits. You shouldn’t press into the head. It might be even dangerous
Does anyone know if Kitaro does a breathwork meditation in his videos?
I have a few. Check them out and find out if they're helpful for you 😉
How many times per day can you practice breathing or is it bad to exceed once per day
3 times a day is great actually. The effects last for 4 hours so if you were to do it morning, midday, and at night your body will thank you. Do it when you feel you need it. It's not wrong to do it more than 3 times a day if u have the time.
Do we do the inhales by nasal breathing or mouth breathing?
If your nasal passages are clear go for it. Wim himself says mouth breathing so you can get the maximum intake of breath as quickly as possible. Keep in mind basal breathing is a calming breath. In Kitaros videos it always shows him breathing nasally. The nasal passages filter the air we breath whereas the mouth does not. That said if you're only mouth breathing during the breathwork and nasal breathing in your day to day its not going to affect you negatively. I'd recommend mouth breathing for a quick full inhale.
question, Wim Hof talks about breathing into your chest and then into your diaphragm every other breath but you're saying just breathe into your diaphragm??
It teaches the other way around. Breath into the belly THEN the chest, this is actually the diaphragm at work.. the belly is a vacuum and is the diaphragm actually pulling down in action.
The Bohr effect makes this breathwork a challenging method to advocate as a daily life practice. The lack of C02 in the bloodstream (as a result of rapid breathing) diminishes the ability for hemoglobin to release O2 to the muscles, brain and other vital parts of the body (hence the dizziness the practice can induce). Short term alkalosis seems fine but long, lifetime practice seems ill advised. What do others think?
@UnspeakablyAwake cold/heat exposure protocols seem like promising, positive sum games to play in the long term however, I am still skeptical of any cumulative, long term effects of doing any breathwork that starves oxygen to the brain over a long period of time.
@@ancientfarmerfilmsit can be very hard on the nervous system too. Oxygen Advantage seems like a good one to balance it with. Though I believe these breath techniques require a certain level of health. That said, starving the brain from oxygen doesn't seem like a good thing indeed. I'd probably limit the length of the sessions and keep it shorter. No need to overdo it.
@@JamieR agreed on many points - I've been diving into OA for over a few weeks now and it's becoming abundantly clear how chronic hyperventilation should be avoided as a long term practice. Daily practice will make us all CO2 intolerant over time which basically cripples our ability to carry O2 effectively to our bodies. Watch recent videos with Wim - between sentences he is struggling to breathe. Years of practice have made him CO2 intolerant. Also the fact that we are mouth breathing mass amounts of dust/particles through the air while eliminating NO2 uptake through nasal breathing make this breathwork ever harder than ever for me to advocate to anyone. I do want to thank Wim for opening up the world of breathwork and cold exposure to me and many others but alas, the science is clear.
@@ancientfarmerfilms So if WH breath is long term debilitating, what other breathwork, if any, can be used to help one bear the cold water experience? Have tried cold shower and haven't lasted but briefly...
According to your theory, everybody in high altitude lives an unhealthy life. It’s hormesis, and our body adapts. Just don’t overdo it.
The breathing techniques are centuries old.
Whether we should breathe through mouth or nose ?

Excuse me, teacher, it is an honor to follow you on your channel. After I breathe, I get into the ice water of my pool. My question is the following: How can I return to the normal temperature? I get into the hot water of my bathroom immediately or what can I do? gracias
Do the horse stance for 5 to 15 minutes. Watch my video on The horse stance in the Wim Hof Method.
@@KitaroWaga gracias maestro, saludos desde culiacan sinaloa mexico
After watching the entire video, I still don't know what you were doing wrong. If you could let me know with a reply, I'd be very grateful.
Can heart desease do it?
My understanding from research is that all breathing should be thru the nose. Some might find it uncomfortable initially during exercise and the Wim Hof method of breathing but it gets easier quickly. Many thx Kitaro for your guidance.

I've been breathing through the mouth doing this for 6 years??? you seem to inhale through the nose?
I do both. Most of times, I do through the nose in the first couple of rounds and then switch. That's how we teach it.
still waiting to hear the critical difference you learned 🤷
Your body is your instrument. Play it your way.
Keep it simple, no need to complicate it. Don’t think, just do.
9:18
eeehh... and what was the change now?
Should I paste the transcript as a comment?🤔
but you're still doing it wrong, you're hyperventilating - just do a guided breathing with wim hof and you'll see the difference ... I agree completely with your views on nowadays' terrible urge to fill the gaps and the need of being 'bored' !
No need to make it harder with all your info just feel the inside of the body and start breathing

Ironic that you talk of Ma but also edit your videos to remove any empty space in your monologue.
Jesus is real and he loves you
and how is this connected to breathwork and the wim hof method?
No he isn't, his religion including himself is a scam
If you know, you know @UnspeakablyAwake
Thanks for the reminder
You don’t have to announce that if your own faith is solid. Jesus did not create the breath.
