- The last time we looked at an Aliexpress 3D printer.... it was a big letdown. However this time we have new contestants and 4 of them. The Sovol SV01, Sidewinder X1 (fromartillery), Lotmaxx SC-10 Shark and Lastly the FLSUN Q5 3D Delta. Ultimately we go through all of these printers and check out, ease of use, is it easy to build, instructions, 3D Print Quality (with PLA, not TPU), Consistency of Prints, Build Quality and Noise. And I am happy to say, there are some big winners here!

Hi mate! Check out the Iris Box as well as a Thor's Hammer. The iris box is tough to print but is great for storing bits and pieces and is an impressive moving mechanism. Also check out motherboard standoffs and the iconic 'Benchy the Boat's for testing!

The most Recommended thing I would tell you is to start looking at grabbing a food dehydrator and printing extensions to allow you to dry your filament and this will mean that you can infrequently use different filaments and don't need to keep them in a drybox.
I have decided that my petg prints are even better than what I can get with pla and with the rise of cheap good filaments it's really affordable as well.
If you want to minimize noise go to Bunnings and pick up a concrete paver for $10 to sit the printers on and it will make it much more quiet and will sometimes make the print better quality.

You could 3D print some pretty neat stuff for PCs dude, a support post for a sagging GPU, 2.5" to 3.5" bay adapters, taller case feet for use on carpet, slot/bay covers etc
Definitely agree with the round up conclusions! The sidewinder is a beast for huge prints if you chuck a 0.8mm nozzle on it, just keep an eye on that tension arm and the mains power cable to the bed. I wouldn't touch the shark laser module tbh, it's incredibly dangerous running them without an enclosure and I hate that companies sell them.

Yea I wouldn’t bother with trying the laser engraver. That laser is extremely powerful and dangerous, and I would never trust those knock off Chinese laser goggles to protect my eyes. (People have run test on them, they let a lot of laser light through). If you decide to try it, at the very least get a pair of high quality laser goggles from a site like survival lasers. Don’t want to see the YES man get blinded.
This makes me want to try the laser, lol. I print guns, though, so...

One thing I missed is a comparison of the accuracy. (basically how many micrometers). But that's fine as you are also a beginner in the field of machining, 3D printing etc.
Oh yeah I am still pretty new to all this, I thought the X1 was probably the most accurate.
Each of the printers you can select accuracy in millimeters (called layer height) using your slicer software (in this case its Cura). The software tells the printer instructions and cura allows a wide range but all the tests IIRC were done using the 0.2mm (200 micron) accuracy for the sake of reasonable print times. The accuracy he measured was more of how crisp the details were on a flat surface (e.g the bottom text of the boaty benchmark), not how many layers it could theoretically do if it slowed down enough.
Spusuf that’s not accuracy (not even close to the definition of any definition of accuracy), that’s merely layer height. That has very little to do with dimensional accuracy, in fact that would only change accuracy of small details on the Z axis (and since the newer Prusa Slicer can do varying layer height automatically that’s kind of obsolete). Accuracy will have more to do with mechanical aspect (such as wobbliness of frame, straightness of all axis, loose belts, momentum of bed and extruder, acceleration/speed/jerk settings), as well as printer calibration (over-extruding/under-extruding, steps per mm correct) and accuracy of slicing software (some small details may be missing etc). But Z height is almost the least important thing, and basically has nothing to do with accuracy (technically it could change a feature in the Z axis by up to half it’s layer height, but that’s typically not a big deal, and typically not relevant as accuracy often affects print in place assemblies or press fit parts etc).
That's a pity that Flsun Q5, if you don't need that big build area, it could be the best printer in the roundup. Did you contact the support about it?
Still it is completely fair to not bother reviewing broken printer, because they must have failed at QC or packaging it properly.
I mean I tried fixing it, thought it was fixed for a little bit, but then it just did the bed error again....

BUT I don't think it's fair to put the Sidewinder X1 in this group.
Lotmaxx SC-10, Sovol SV01, and FLSUN Q5 are all in the $250-270 range - They're in the Ender-3 V2 price range and category, with most offering free shipping.
The Sidewinder is $400, it's in the CR-10 V2 price range, 50% more than the 3 entry level printers it was pitted against... Not to mention they want $50 shipping on top.
I think the Artillery Hornet ($259) would have been a more fair choice, also maybe a Ender-3 V2 ($250-270) for a base line?

I bought the Sidewinder like 2 months ago and i couldnt be happier with it
I bought a Creality Ender 5 Pro earlier this year, and although it was one of the more reputable printers in its segment, I was still unlucky enough to have encountered an array of issues with it. The biggest issue I had by far was the extruder, which out of the box would often skip steps and cause failed prints from under-extrusion or total failure to extrude. I ultimately determined the cause of that to be too much spring force at the extruder gear which subsequently caused the filament to be crushed into an elliptical cross-section, and thus getting stuck in the bowden tube. I had to actually cut the spring in order to reduce its overall length and clamping force to fix this problem. There was just too much spring pressure even with the adjustment screw fully undone.
I'm guessing the extruder spring that came with my printer may have been the wrong part, but it was crucial to the functionality of the printer and it's one of those simpler things that should never have been wrong in the first place. Someone with less patience or technical knowledge may very well have returned the printer due to this problem, and even for me it took many hours of frustration and troubleshooting to get it running as intended. I should also mention that Creality customer service scored a 0/10 in my book; never got a response to my support request regarding the whole extruder drama even though the printer was brand new and well within warranty. I'm sure Creality generally makes good printers, but I'll probably never buy another printer from them if I can help it. Plenty of clones that offer better value like the ones in this video, so if I'm gonna have to troubleshoot and fix it myself anyway, I may as well spend less money to begin with.

Guys, I truly love your videos content but please, as i am a 3d printing advanced user, please, stop doing the mechanical assembly on a box ... Pleaseeeeee use a flat surface as possible ! Most of the issues with fdm printers are caused by errors during assembly and alignement issues. Cheers from France !

I bought an Ender 3 v2 a few weeks ago for 199 euro ... it's been running constantly because I can't stop printing stuff lol. Some more usefull than others haha. Yesterday been printing a couple of 2.5 to 3.5 inch caddy/bracket/adapters. For 27 cents and a less than an hour print it's a no brainer. (and being able to print it in any color I want, lol).
I would love to see more 3d printing videos on your channel. I am also excited about the 3d printing, because I make myself a lot of 3d printing projects lately on my ender 3. Greetings from Poland. :)

IGarrettI technically no, but it depends what you value, and the Ender 3 is all around a great value (simple, decent quality, easy to mod, huge community support and guides and instructional videos). Cheapest for similar quality is actually half the price (but it comes as a bucket of screws and may take 6+ hours to assemble, which I find really fun like a LEGO set and having one assembled just takes away the fun), but most people don’t know how to use a screw driver or at least prefer to have it ready in 5 minutes so Ender 3 wins hands down in that regard. It’s neither the best in any department, but it’s decent at all aspects making it one of the best overall well rounded printers making it an exceptionally good starting printer.
great vid, always love your stuff! love seeing people explore new areas of tech, no idea how hot it'll get around the cpu but PLA might not be the best choice, I've had that stuff melt when close to my 50-60 celcius 3d printer bed, so I would assume the same would happen, although it would take time, you might be better exploring higher temp plastics like ABS (although it's a pain to print, but there are others) for stuff like that, for everything else in a pc case PLA is probably fine though :)
I started with a Monoprice Select Mini Pro (Rebranded Malyan M200 V3). They (Monoprice) don't sell it anymore cause of issues it has and I plan to homebrew/modify mine. After that printer, I got an Anycubic MegaX. Had nothing but great experiences with it. It's got a 400mm/3 build volume if you want to make massive prints. Can almost do full helmets on it. I'd check it out if I were you! I got mine for ~$400 USD.
My favorite part about 3D printing is using the printer to print upgrades for the printer. My MPSMv3 is completely covered in orange 3D prints that make it better than stock. Filament guide, screen cover, Z-Axis reinforcement, VESA to RaspberryPi Mount (For an Octoprint server)... etc. Nothing like using a tool to upgrade itself.
DO NOT USE PLA IN ANY PART OF A COOLING SYSTEM!!!
PLA goes soft at 60 degrees Celsius and will cause failure. ABS might work and so might PET-G.
Maybe you could recommend a pc build for 3d printing (for using Fusion 360 or meshroom for photogrammetry)

Im loving my anycubic i3 mega, got i for 180, has really nice print quality and it has whats called an ultrabase which is glass with a coating that prints stick when heated and pop off when cool

I have an FL SUN QQ-S Pro. I have had it for about 8 months and have had 0 issues. Not to discount what Brian said about the FLSUN printer, but I think with any of these brands there will always be a chance to get a bad unit or that the unit could get tossed around enough when shipping to cause it to go bad. I just wanted to let people know there are people that have had good luck with this brand.
I'm waiting for the 3D printer that prints cookies. I saw one at Computex a couple years ago. I like cookies.
Ender 3 pro. I have it now for 4 months. Never skipped a beat. I will never get a printer shipped directly from China but buy from a local 3D shop because it else I will have a very hard time if something goes wrong.
Welcome to this amazing hobby my friend, its a long learning curve but it's so enjoyable one, some suggestions you should calibrate your Esteps in every 3d printer, do a PID calibration and the basic test like the axis calibration cube and the stringing test, and of course the Maker muse test for
Clearance and Tolerance, and one TH-camr that goes very deep into 3d printer and I love it's a German "CNC kitchen" or "Teaching TECH", you will learn A LOT in so little time. Another thing try to mention in this reviews if they have a 32 bit motherboard or 8bit, if they have Meanwell power supply, what extruder they have, etc, etc they are a very important thing that people should know, look at it like if it was a computer, you must have a 80 plus power supply, a decent motherboard a good processor, etc... In the material aspect try to go with PETG instead of PLA its a much better material and its easy to print also, the glass temperature its higher than PLA 75ºC and its not that rigid so it will hold better against falls and will not deform in time as the PLA does. When you start to go "deep in to the study" of 3d printers you will realize that this Chinese 3d printers like creality ender 3 clones are pretty good but they have a lot of limitations and things to improve that you will want to go higher and when you think the next step its to buy a "Prusa" then you will found out that you can have MUCH better 3d printer with much better kinematics, electronics and print quality at a much lower cost, like for example a Seckit Go (AMAZING PRINTER), or a VORON 1.6 or the BUDGET KING 3d printer the VKING or VBABY for half the price and you can do a enclouser and print at 200mhs speed without losing quality and saving a LOT of time, and you can print materials like Polycarbonate or ASA or some variety of Nylon that you cant print with a PTFE hotend but a Mosquito hotend or the clone from trianglelabs or mellow can, also allows you to change the nozzle with 1 hand and with a cold hotend saving time and not having jams problems, and you can print the most flexible material because you put a BONDTECH or a dual drive clone for 30 bucks but give you so much better printer quality and speeds and... sorry i get to excited its all the journey that we 3d printers have...
The red glasses are a really good inclusion since most laser engraving modules could really damage your eyes (permanent blindness is possible).
The problem is that those laser glasses are cheapest ones included, and there are some videos up online of people shining a laser directly at the glasses and most of the light still goes through. It's better to throw those out and spend the $50 to buy proper laser glasses that will actually prevent you from going blind, instead of the cheap glasses that will only reduce the amount of vision loss.
Edison Wong yep, my generic red laser pair does less than the red lenses in some old school red and blue 3D movie glasses (that’s not a joke, I found a pair that seems to block over 99.5% of blue laser and the included safety glasses with a laser blocker maybe 20%, so basically completely useless and horrifically unsafe for the 1000+ mW handheld laser... hence I started testing random stuff around the house, but due note I only found one 3D pair that worked that well, so just because it’s a red lens doesn’t mean anything).
I actually asked this question on an other video before but since I didn't get any answer on it I though I may ask again I have a MSI z77-g45 gaming mother board which failed after I plugged an AMD 6990 GPU on it and started showing error 99 on the corner of the screen afterwords, have you ever had this problem with an MSI board before and is there a fix for it?
So with all these 3d printers, do you think there is a 3d printed mount for SFF power supplies in normal ATX cases? Good way to dress up those HP G1 800s with some nice looks and 1650s!

I maybe being a little critical? The motherboard stand does not seem quite wide enough for it to be stable? The more heavier and expensive boards ie big heatsinks on the VRMS may make the board a bit wobbly on the stand? Personally I would widen it by about 25% - 50%?

I prefer core xy printers over Cartesian. Had a number of prints fail from the bed shifting back and forth in the y direction while printing.
I looked up the shark but it does not come with the lazer for engraving.
You could print some VESA mount brackets for those standless LCD panels and dell monitor stands. Meta combo.
Will any of those 3D printers be able to print an IO Shield?
Seems like every youtuber that got a Shark, got good machines. I have one and it's nice. When it works. They are not as consistent as you think.

I have the Artillery Genius and so far so good
the sidewinder is fairly inaccurate when compared to my other printers. It wont print any detail less than 0.35mm because the stepper motors lack the teeth to go any finer than that.
So I managed to bend the pins on a ryzen 3300x whilst installing it on a b550 motherboard as an upgrade. so my question is do I replace it with a 3300x or do I opt for a 3600 ryzen 5 baring in mind I want to build a linux desktop with virtualization in mind and have upgrade from a b450 mh ?
If none of the pins are actually boken off you can carefully move them back in to position and the cpu will work fine, no need to replace it and If you're going to replace it anyway you might as well give it a try.

Lotmaxx defective motor that works the threaded rod to raise lower the print head. Auto leveler factory mounted 180 degrees from the shown in lotmaxx videos. Prusa order coming soon
Red lenses help because of some pecularities in how we see colors. We see RGB most creatures can only see in two color spectrums. But our RG overlap a lot. So seeing red, and seeing green varients is harder for us. Wearing a green lens or a red lense would essentially do the same thing. Dampening one of those colors. Which allows us to pick up more details because our eyes aren't busy trying to seperate two things so closely matched. Most of the hd sunglasses and stuff you'll see take advantage of this either using amber (redish) lenses or a blue green lens. I have a pair of Arnets (like the italian equivalent of oakleys) that I got when I served as an Army reservist in Iraq and they have amber lenses. They are great for doing pretty much anything.

The Artilery (Evnovo) X1 is definately the safest choice.
The Sidewinder X1 gets my vote it's a great printer for cost and size.
I Spot the roll of Fire Engine Red PLA+ filament.
I was a PC gamer who went back to console! The PC is VERY limited in the types of games. Zelda, Mario etc? Nope. GT Sport? Nope. The Last of Us or Uncharted? Nope. God of War? Nope. And so on. It's not just specific games that are missing, those games represent whole genres that are not found on PC.

Check the voltage on the stepper drivers on the flsun q5... mine where way to hight ... the voltage on the 2208 shoulden´t be over 0,9 volts and on the a4988 not over 0,6 volts ... then it should be a fine printer ... mine works like charm after a little bit of tuning ...

Is the creality 3 pro good enough or do I need the 5.... Trying to start a program to teach kids how to use 3d printers and work w low voltage like LEDs etc . Thank u for ur input!
Never expected to see printers like these for less than $ 400.- ! Makes me wonder if their business model is similar to inkjet printers, where the printers come dirt cheap, but the ink is more expensive than gold!

The creality ender 3 and 3 pro has to be on this list. Also the ender 3 v2.
You'd be surprised how much you can charge for 3d printing replacement parts and accessories for collectibles. In Transformers fandom for example, it's not uncommon to be charged tens of bucks to get 3D printed weapons or tiny pieces of gap fillers from China. They can cost upwards to 1/3 of the actual figures themselves.

Megaman print is not because of it needs run in, it has overhangs more than 60 degrees.. it needs support.

The laser engraver is probably really really dangerous, if anyone ever walks up to it without laser googles and starts looking at the part being engraved, they could be permanently blinded. Also, do not trust the included goggles. I really hope they make it absolutely clear, that the engraving laser has more than enough output power to engrave permanent dark spots into retinas, in literally less time than a blink of an eye.
