Very good deal there, and a nice little gaming rig that's also Windows 11 compatible. I have that exact same case too, although I put another four fans in it to help with airflow.
I managed to find a similar deal for 100€ in my area this past week: I7 9700 Asus PRIME B365-PLUS Motherboard (w/ Win 10 Pro key) 16GB DDR4 2666MHz 500GB SSD + 1TB HDD 850W NOX Power Supply (not exactly from an amazing brand, but it's a decent budget brand I've used plenty of times without issues here) I need to replace the case (standard ATX Cooler Master case), add a GPU and I'll probably replace the Intel cooler with something different.
Just wanted to say that I just stumbled onto your channel and absolutely love it. I'll continue watching for sure. I truly admire your profession. Your doing what you love. There is a guy who does the same thing in my city and I just so happend to buy my computer from him. A relatively high end pc extremely well built. If I lived where you live I'd buy from you as well. Take care.
That Thermaltake case is a good budget case. My only complaint is that the power switch is incredibly easy to hit if moving the case. I can't count how many times I bumped or grabbed the case (usually sitting on the floor) and turned on the pc.
This is exactly the CPU I run so this episode was very valuable to me. Mine came from an HP pre-built office PC that I transplanted to a gaming board. Thanks for the information.
Pure inspiration; I took the plunge and paired a 4060 TI (ASUS DUAL) with my other half's I5 9600 [1660]. For MMO's it works and works well, we do have a small fund pot for a ryzen 7000 build if the need arises.✌
I got a 9700K in 2019 and I’ve been very happy with it. The 9900K ran hot and HT wasn’t needed in games at the time with 8 cores. In fact the 9700K was as good sometimes even faster in games. I think it’s an underrated CPU. Although in hindsight if I had gotten the 3700X which was worse in games would have allowed me to get a 5800X3D without a new motherboard.
I too wish I had bought the 3700X would have been able to jump to 5800X3D. I did the 9600K with a nice mini Z board (Asrock Z390 PG ITX-AC) as a first build, for better/worse. I wanted the 3700X but wasn't sure if it was too much, think it would have lasted me for longer without wanting to upgrade though, oh well. A friend of mine bought the 9700K for reason you mentioned 9900K had a reputation for running hot.
I just built a R5 5600x, RX 7600 system as a secondary computer for $485 through facebook marketplace and microcenter open box. The $55 5600x and $190 rx 7600 is the entire reason I was able to do it. Keep looking for those deals. This is in US $ as well.
I've been seeing the 9700 selling on eBay for just over $100. Hell, I managed to get a 9900KF the other day for $165, which was about $180 after shipping and taxes. Some people are asking absurd prices for the 9700, but they're really only selling for around $125, and I think that's worth it over the 8700 that sells for around $90. The two extra physical cores are more beneficial than the six threads on the 8700. Regardless, that system was a HELL of a deal with the 9700 included.
I once bought a 9700 and paired it with a gigabyte B360 motherboard. Power limits on that mb were so enforced I could literally run without any fans. After struggling for a while I bought an Asus z390 and I was able to remove all limits and do some bclk overclocking. Mine ran at 4.8 GHz all core all the time then. performance was very good. to this day I am still running that same motherboard except I upgraded to a 9900KS (5.0ghz all core, no power limit) and went from a 1080ti to a 4070.
Something about 8th and 9th gen man. I pick up 9700K Z390 combos for $75, $100 sometimes. I don't know why they go so cheap sometimes, but makes for some excellent price/performance!
You can cool VRM's from the back of the MB if there is decent clearance between MB tray and case panel. Stick a slim fan (80x15mm, 92x15mm, even 120x15mm) to the CPU backplate (with a few blobs of RTV), ideally cut from its frame, inaudible even at high RPM in most cases. The MOSFETS are _intended_ to sink heat to the PCB (soldered across their entire rear surface to a ground-plane) and the unobstructed rear of the MB is conducive to air-flow.
TYC, what do you think of the 10980XE? I picked up one of those Digital Storm Aventum X's for around 900. Curious if it maintains that excellent responsiveness that you witness on the desktop consumer 10th gen chips. It's such a unique system, taking a downgrade to main it.
I was going to do the same thing! I have a random FSP 400W PSU and I was looking at what GPUs I could pair it with and the 4060 is currently the best I can do (a 3060 draws a little bit more power). It's just a shame I can't find used 4060s in my area.
I have Z97-k mother board Intel core i7 4790k I have a question i don't have money to buy a new pc for new processor i wanna upgrade later Will Rtx 4060 work on Z97-k mother board? It's PCI 3. Does it plugs in same way how i plug the r9 290x ??
im doing the same thing with my 4060 setup, except i have an h110m motherboard, and i bought an ali express QTJ2 (modded laptop i7 9750h that fits on a desktop) that works on pretty much all LGA 1511 motherboards with a custom bios and guess what, it cost 40 bucks! i pretty much upgraded my 1050ti i5 6500 into a 4060 and desktop equivalent of an i5 10400 for just 340 bucks (4060 was brand new)
I have i7 3770, 16gb ddr3 1600mhz, corsair vs450, i was looking at rx6600(new) , now the rtx 4060 is interesting(new). Which is a better pair? I also have an option of mined 3070 which costs same as the new 4060
if only that case was windowless to hide cables/stock cooler AND it let you haggle another $25 off--deal goes from epic to LEGENDARY haha beautifully done!!
i have the F variant of this CPU and i'm quite happy with it. i dont undervolt since i'm not tech savvy to do that but i'm okay with what it can give me. i play most games at respectable framerates. i have it paired with a 3060 though. i'm planning to keep this system for quite sometime (God willing)
I had a similar build from that era, 9600K paired first with my old 1060 then 3060 (really regret not buying the 3080 I had in my cart). Great 1080P some 1440P though. Figure these are good machines still (also run great on Linux, Gaming there was good too remember dual booting a bit on this rig). Feel like if it does/plays what you need don't need to upgrade.
Brian i have undervolt my I7 10700k with 0, 1 mv but after a year stable it happend that the computer went crazy the processor was hot and the network does not work. So i have to set the bios tothe factory default. Now it works almost perfect my harddisk is dead so i must wait for 2 minutes to start windows.
I'm surprised that the 9700 could keep up with the 3070. I would have grabbed that deal too but I wouldn't consciously build it. For a kid or adult who only casually games, it's still a great rig.
At least the 9700 was 8, 8. My first non prebuilt/build got the 9600K 6/6 (figured it would WoW okay). I still have the Asrock Z390 ITX/AC that is/was a great board for me. Had a 3060 paired (I regret not buying 3080 on launch, had one in the cart) that was great 1080P, some 1440P but I was happy to move on when 12th went on sale last year/so for cheap. For 400 that's a good system though. I ought to refresh some of the old pcs again, just get them out the door.
The greatest price to performance Brian explains to everyone towards the end of the video. Bells and whistles in variant naming has become a trigger or red flag to me. I am amazed they even come with a warranty anymore.
Honestly, even if you spent a little over 400$ to add something like a Thermalrigh Assassin 120/Deepcool AG400 and a good 500/550w psu, it would still be worth it.
Got a 9600k from a friend build it with a Vega 56 found in the bin thing works like a charm truth be told building pc out of junk is the way to go for a starter saves you lots of cash and make a progressive future towards upgrade
Hello Bryan, I have been subbed to TYC since the early days and especially like these Parts Hunts. I am an expat Brit living in Yokohama. I don’t know if you would be interested in a system which I have had listed on Craigslist for ages, but have had no luck moving it. You can see what it is on Tokyo Craigslist (Dual Monitor PC) Anyway, if you are interested, that system Is free to you. I prefer giving it to someone who would make use of it. I certainly don’t want to gomi it. Cheers
I like your video nice 👍 job. Since your good at it you have ant tips for my PC so I can get some performance on it in putting some settings like you did? My mobo is a gigabyte Aorus B650 Elite with 7 7800X3D DDR5 & 3090TI any tips to get more FPS and performance will help thank you
PNY will soon be the next EVGA. At least in the GPU department. Kingpin is in business again. The 9700k is a beast but is hampered by PCIE 3.0 speeds. I used one for many years.
PCIE 3 is just fine. Even if cards like 4060 only have x8. TPU once test cards like 2080Ti (which is faster than 4060) at PCIE 3 x8 and the performance lost at best is something like 2%.
In my market, I can build an i5 and rtx 3060 pc for like $300~ about. Then those flip for around $500 usd making it my 2nd most profitable pc. I5 8th gen and upwards are good pairings for 3060s
@@techyescity Nahh. I think CAMM2 will be an undervolting king that finally makes cooler installation, memory cooling, and repairability easier, while also enabling smaller form factors. I'm currently excited. I'm even suggesting it to the boss for the NAS.
guess i got a faulty 450w corsair vs450... i paired a R5 3600 with a 1070ti but it crashed and stopped showing display... motherboard debug led was stuck on vga...i got hosed lol... returned the gpu to the seller and got my money back, now im going to be upgrading to a RX 5700xt and maybe a new power supply... sucks that it turned out to be this way
For thouse wondering, i just made this from scratch (EU) you can have something similar (slightly better) new for 850€ which is still nuts if u don't mess around with used things (which you should)
I already have RTX 3070 Inno 3D 2x for 225$ on hands. Planning to build PC in couple of month. Too much time spend thinking about price to performance and upgrade path... I can save around 200$ buying used AM4 for now and than sell PC for 350$ in future, or buy AM5 platform and maybe upgrade only GPU in the next 3 years which will save a lot more... I'm confused by watching this video...
Intel! What did you say your cpu number is!? - "It is over 9000!" Great lineage, still kicking with undervolted 9300H 'round 20watts and play modern games without effort with undervolted and overclocked 2060 leathercoat green team gpu.
this is the exact reason i dont upgrade my cpu for a long time as im running in 4k and to be honest it will probaly stay till it dies as i cant see in 4k gaining much ever
If you're on a "Budget" when building a PC, wouldn't an AMD Ryzen setup be a better Bang for your Buck in terms of price and slightly better performance?
not when you can get a whole i7 9700 system for under $200... show me a Ryzen 7 3700X PC for that price But yes overall it will be better bang for the buck especially when you can basically drop in a 5700X3D down the line without spending an extra dime
Just in this case it was worth it because it was an entire system for under $200, otherwise no because those used i7's are overpriced AF for what they offer. A budget AMD system with an R5 5600 obliterates this 9700 all day long.
i7 9700 and i5 9600 1HT are enterprise security vulnerability CPUs meant for MS Office. Intel portrayed them as gaming CPUs and GN and HUB bought that Intel misrepresentation hook line and sinker. 9700/9600 are worth nothing in the channel the only Coffee refresh CPU worth considering is 9900_ for applications performance. Or, if you're building a NAS, subject network security and 93/91 support ECC then the 1HT Coffee refresh SKUs are fine. mb
Along the line of Windows Office PC transformed into PC console substitutes since 9700 is worthless in the channel maybe you've discovered an application use after all Bryan at sub $500. mb
If u think 9700 can sell in this use case, ALI Express, ebay, make offer, half of ask? 9700 is worth nothing in the channel to find one with a PC wrapped around it is the only value. mb
That's impying intel/amd are using wrong voltage. But what they do is not actually wrong. They try to settle on a voltage that can guarantee them the best yield.
BRO I NEED UR HELP MY BC HAVE WIRED ESSUES AND MY LOCAL GIGABYTE WARNY IS SO BAD AND TREATS PEOPLE BADLY I HAVE A 13700 I7 AND AND RTX 3060 I HAVE WIRED GLICHES FRAME DROPS AND GRAFGICS CRAD FLSAHED SOME TIMES AS IF IT IS DAMGED AND SOEM TIMES WORK GOOD
I was recently thinking abt flipping pc’s bc its just so hard to find deals here in the netherlands and then I just found this random pc literally on the homepage which happened to be just around the corner. It had a i7 7700 and a gtx 1060 w 16gb for just €75 😂 So ig im not quitting pc flipping
I have been running I7 9700k with a RTX 3070 with 1440p and it runs just fine with all games why go and spend more on 10 or 11gen not worth spending alot more money
In comparison, I paid $300 in March of 2023 for a PC that came with an i7 8700k, ASUS GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a Corsair H100i 240mm AIO cooler, and an open air case with 7 RGB fans. It didn't come with the PSU or storage. You won't find a deal like yours in the U.S. 😂
I dont know man at that price range nvidia gpu simply makes no sense. That i7 9700 would pair much better with some AMD gpu like the 6650xt or even 6700xt 12GB.
Best deal ive seen is FB marketplace..... Whole pc 10900f and 3070 for 400 bucks like a week ago in the buffalo n.y. area idk if anyone ever bought it..... But god dam.......
Thanks to AMD unable to reach their performance target for 7900XTX nvidia end up adjusting their entire line up one tier up than it should be to to keep AMD alive in discrete gpu market.
@@GRIGGINS1 That's literally how each previous generation has been for more than a decade. That's why RTX 40 series was such a dissappointment when compared to its predecessor. Because the only cards that managed to exceed performance of their competition, was the 4070 and up. The 4060, 4060ti, and 4060ti 16GB all failed to provide better value over previous gen. Yet even then, the value apsect was never there.
@@arenzricodexd4409 AMD thankfully did admit RX 7000 underperformed, so they missed their target. However, even then, they still hold far better performance value over Nvidia.
less stuff on motherboard = less power consumption buy some cheap little radiators and stick into power section of the motheboard 9th gen is last gen with best idle power consumption, 10-14th gens are downgrade compared to 9th gen
Sadly i own i7 9700kf ....... yeah i know how badly it sucks now and always sucked i wish i waited little longer and get10th gen i7 instead but i needed pc fast back than (in covid time march 2020) so i had to buy what was avavible
I'm definitely going to start calling undervolting, "Fucking-amazing volting"
Hear, hear! As we all shall.
I just paired an 8700 in a Lenovo motherboard with a 1070ti for under 400 aud. It's for my brother and I'm very happy with the results.
ATX, VGA port on the board ?
Very good deal there, and a nice little gaming rig that's also Windows 11 compatible. I have that exact same case too, although I put another four fans in it to help with airflow.
I managed to find a similar deal for 100€ in my area this past week:

Asus PRIME B365-PLUS Motherboard (w/ Win 10 Pro key)
16GB DDR4 2666MHz
500GB SSD + 1TB HDD
850W NOX Power Supply (not exactly from an amazing brand, but it's a decent budget brand I've used plenty of times without issues here)

brilliant stuff Bryan, this is one of the best price to performance builds you've done. And I've been watching for a looooong time 😄

Look up audio male to male 3.5mm cable reviews, I spend three days online and still can't find a reliable product.

8:34 FINALLY I can download CAM Memory! They said it would be impossible but they were wrong.
One is free. The other upcoming one I feel will be a fleece.
@@techyescity Nahh. I think CAMM2 will be an undervolting king that finally makes cooler installation, memory cooling, and repairability easier, while also enabling smaller form factors. I'm currently excited.
I'm even suggesting it to the boss for the NAS.
I think the Ryzen 5 3600XT is faster than the i7-9700....I wonder how they would compare?
great video, i bought a 4060 super and its such a good graphics card
Nice, I got the RX 7800 Ti.
4060 super is not a real card. you dont remember the gpu you got.
I got a 4040 ti super, so far happy with the preformence 😊
guess i got a faulty 450w corsair vs450... i paired a R5 3600 with a 1070ti but it crashed and stopped showing display... motherboard debug led was stuck on vga...i got hosed lol... returned the gpu to the seller and got my money back, now im going to be upgrading to a RX 5700xt and maybe a new power supply... sucks that it turned out to be this way
Brian you have the weirdest undervolt method i have seen 😅 have a look at the called method 2
Ok will check it out. I just raise the lower limits as fast as possible lol
What's the name of the pc
I just built a system with a i7 8700 and rx 6700 xt. Performs super similar to this and I paid roughly $450 so you beat me in price to performance lol
In my country a 4060 goes for $400 US & second hand people are so crazy they sometimes charge more than that for a 3060 class card
For thouse wondering, i just made this from scratch (EU) you can have something similar (slightly better) new for 850€
which is still nuts if u don't mess around with used things (which you should)
on the other note Woa 3070 is ceazy card if priced right
I already have RTX 3070 Inno 3D 2x for 225$ on hands.
If you're on a "Budget" when building a PC, wouldn't an AMD Ryzen setup be a better Bang for your Buck in terms of price and slightly better performance?
not when you can get a whole i7 9700 system for under $200... show me a Ryzen 7 3700X PC for that price
But yes overall it will be better bang for the buck especially when you can basically drop in a 5700X3D down the line without spending an extra dime
Or, if you're building a NAS, subject network security and 93/91 support ECC then the 1HT Coffee refresh SKUs are fine. mb
There are a lot of 4060 + DLSS being plowed by SIs into 1080 sub $500 PC console substitutes currently. mb
yea with DLSS 1440. mb
Along the line of Windows Office PC transformed into PC console substitutes since 9700 is worthless in the channel maybe you've discovered an application use after all Bryan at sub $500. mb
If u think 9700 can sell in this use case, ALI Express, ebay, make offer, half of ask? 9700 is worth nothing in the channel to find one with a PC wrapped around it is the only value. mb
What if we change "Undervolting" to "Voltage Correcting" ?
That's impying intel/amd are using wrong voltage. But what they do is not actually wrong. They try to settle on a voltage that can guarantee them the best yield.
i bet that system would be great as a nas or an emulation machine.
BRO I NEED UR HELP MY BC HAVE WIRED ESSUES AND MY LOCAL GIGABYTE WARNY IS SO BAD AND TREATS PEOPLE BADLY I HAVE A 13700 I7 AND AND RTX 3060 I HAVE WIRED GLICHES FRAME DROPS AND GRAFGICS CRAD FLSAHED SOME TIMES AS IF IT IS DAMGED AND SOEM TIMES WORK GOOD
People love to dump on the 4060, but it's power efficiency is unmatched.
But it is a weak card for money the so that pretty much negates the "power efficiency".
@@christopherwood2290yea it only makes sense for ITX systems or office type PCs as a drop in card
No wonder that Tech Yes Man is testing Monster Hunter World for some reason
I was recently thinking abt flipping pc’s bc its just so hard to find deals here in the netherlands and then I just found this random pc literally on the homepage which happened to be just around the corner.
It had a i7 7700 and a gtx 1060 w 16gb for just €75 😂
So ig im not quitting pc flipping
the implication is that i7 9700 is as good as a Ryzen 7950X3D, or at least really close. I dont think so.
the video is talking about super budget builds
Believe it or not, that's what a gpu bottleneck looks like.....
10:16 some say only if you are using an nvidia gpu :D
Man, I really wish the Yen was stronger. Living in Japan has made buying electronics so expensive.
I love these builds , i hate intel although for their sockets. but tbh its a really good 400PC USD$. maybe no upgradeability but still real good.
3:01 BUT! Is it snappy?
It is!
tech yes knows better than a billion dollar comp lol
I FKNAMAZING-volted my cpu and gpu after watching this video!!🤪
in italy amazon sell 4060 350 $ the other 50$ u buy 5 fan for case ;=)
F* amazing volting! 😂
I have been running I7 9700k with a RTX 3070 with 1440p and it runs just fine with all games why go and spend more on 10 or 11gen not worth spending alot more money
In the Philippines you pay 400usd+ for the RTX4060 alone minus the PC!
normal ebay price
Sweet
In comparison, I paid $300 in March of 2023 for a PC that came with an i7 8700k, ASUS GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a Corsair H100i 240mm AIO cooler, and an open air case with 7 RGB fans. It didn't come with the PSU or storage. You won't find a deal like yours in the U.S. 😂
I dont know man at that price range nvidia gpu simply makes no sense. That i7 9700 would pair much better with some AMD gpu like the 6650xt or even 6700xt 12GB.
Makes 100X more sense for flips.
Power consumption.
I just got a Hero and it’s soo sexy
Best deal ive seen is FB marketplace..... Whole pc 10900f and 3070 for 400 bucks like a week ago in the buffalo n.y. area idk if anyone ever bought it..... But god dam.......
It's rather dissappointing that the 4060 can't outperform the 3070, when that's typically indicitive of a generational uplift.
Um the 4060 is literally smaller than the 3060. Why should it outperform the 3070. What next you gonna want the 4070 to outperform a 3090?
Thanks to AMD unable to reach their performance target for 7900XTX nvidia end up adjusting their entire line up one tier up than it should be to to keep AMD alive in discrete gpu market.
@@GRIGGINS1 Yes, the next generation at the same model should outperform the last one. This is common sense.
Hyperthreading doesn't matter in gaming as long as you have 6+ cores, at least in my experience.
I've had some rough 1% , 0.1% lows on my previous 9700K system versus my friend's 9900K , very similar other core specs.
less stuff on motherboard = less power consumption
buy some cheap little radiators and stick into power section of the motheboard
9th gen is last gen with best idle power consumption, 10-14th gens are downgrade compared to 9th gen
Sadly i own i7 9700kf ....... yeah i know how badly it sucks now and always sucked i wish i waited little longer and get10th gen i7 instead but i needed pc fast back than (in covid time march 2020) so i had to buy what was avavible
it doesn't suck at all man. lol.
