I'm sorry, but how many users will be comparing ride quality at 130 mph? Would it not been more useful to do the comparison at 80 mph, a more usual rep mobile speed?

I don't know what variant they used, but I drive a 2.5L Touring and it's a car made for everyone including Adventurers, Families, Mileage conscious, etc. This car is designed by Mazda with utmost sincerity and emotions. They literally gave everything they had to create this Marvel. Which company redesigns their Engines from scratch? Mazda does. The Power, you can feel it. The lady gave a rating of 7.5 just because she wasn't feeling comfortable when they were traveling at 135 MPH. Come on, at usual 70-75 MPH you will feel much comfortable like any other car, and with family nobody is gonna drive that crazily. After all, it's not a sports car, but a great car with sporty look, feel and sound. The oldest of the 4 Japanese Big Automobile makers, Mazda wanted to prove a point that they may be late into the game in this segment, but they can really make such unmatched cars with Luxurious packages and give to very ordinary buyers. The basic variant in US is the 'Sport', and that itself has 90% of what the next level has. It's time to support the people who really give us quality products rather than throwing the hard earned money on Super Luxury Brands just for pride.

@@Prokitess Sorry for answering this after 1 year lol. I handed over it to my nephew and it's still as good as new. Just got a 2014 Mazda 6 Touring with 55,000 miles. I agree wholeheartedly. I had been focusing on the Accords and Camrys and had slept on the 6. Well I am fully awake now! This is an amazing car! Beautiful inside and out and fun as hell to toss around! Zoom Zoom indeed!

I've got a 2015 2.2 Diesel 150bhp it is frugal on fuel but has legs when you put your foot down, my stepson has a bmw 318 and he loved it when he drove it, he said it was incredible smooth to drive and was surprised it still was pulling in 6th gear, I'd agree with the wind noise but it's a small price to pay for such a fun car to drive. It is a tad jumpy at high speed, but not so much that it scares you, I think that's down to the light steering, but you still feel in control of the car, at lower speeds the steering is pure precision. Top Tip !! You can also easily upgrade the BHP with something called Versatuner software and map it to 175BHP or 192BHP for £190, as the SE-L 2.2 150bhp diesel is EXACTLY the same engine as the 175bhp NAV sport engine, the Nav Sport engine just has a different tune.
I had a Ford Mondeo Titanium. Living in Outback Queensland Australia, it was a great car but the high beam really was not good. Being automatic they did not seem to want to stay on and when you wanted them to turn off because of a car in front they didn't.

Did you check that also on the gas station? If it makes more noise, it will consume more gas. Besides, Mazda 6 is pretty, but there are prettier cars with more proper engines (V6/R6)
This wasn't exactly the most scientific test. You have to take into account partial throttle(though diesels have no pumping losses from partial throttle because there is no throttle), what part of the rev range you use, how much internal friction there is when coasting, etc. You can pretty easily take this motor up above 200hp and 400lb-ft with just an ecu tune and maybe a dpf delete.
Deleting dpf is restricted or illegal in some countries (Poland), besides Mazda can easly can take away warranty if you delete it, and your insurer can tak away insurance in case you have accident. This is a problem with many NEW cars in some areas. They should check also on the gas station how really Mazda consumed, because basing on what the computer shows is not smart.
Got 2013 JDM Atenza diesel wagon (Maz 6) , got the more powerful motor than the one tested here 173hp 310lb/ft. Love it - heaps of grunt on tap at low revs. Highly recommend the 6 - cheers Mazda
That was the most scientific testing I've ever witnessed, accurate to a gajillion decimal points. It's one heck of a nice looking car though, I'd give it a 4.n9 on a scale of 8 to k.
Highly questionable method of testing, driving a rep/family car flat out to test fuel consumption. Maybe some mixed conditions would have been more appropriate?
so their "miles per gallon" are different than USA "miles per gallon"?? isn't "miles per gallon" means that is the rate of gas consumption of the engine? It would make sense if it were KPG instead of MPG. "Kilometers per gallon". But I fail to understand how a mile can differ from a mile.
+Flash Senpai +muzzammil ather British mile is the same as US mile. It's not measuring kilometers or metric miles (1500m), but still the same old 1609 meter mile as we have in the U.S. Main difference is the size of the gallon. US gallon is 128 fl oz, while Imperial gallon is 160 fl oz. That alone accounts for a 25% bump in the number since it's measuring against 25% more fuel. So a car that gets 40 mpg in the US gets 50 in the UK, all else being equal. The other difference is the emissions standards are a little looser in the EU & UK than in the US mainly because they actually scale with consumption whereas the U.S. is only interested in concentration levels of a given volume of exhaust under different operating loads. For diesels, that means the adsorption beds used for selective catalytic reduction don't require as much wasted fuel (or urea if you're using it) to be dumped into the exhaust in order to clear out the NOx... So you save some additional fuel that way compared to the U.S. This was also what VW cheated on, btw... basically they would waste the fuel during a test and not waste it otherwise allowing more NOx emissions. Because of that and the gallon size thing, it's not uncommon for small diesels in the UK to crest 70 mpg (and also why most Brits are sorely unimpressed by hybrids like the Prius). Of course, Mazda claims that the diesel in the 6 doesn't need as much of it anyway because they bring their SkyActiv diesels to lower compression levels in order to keep temperatures down and mitigate NOx generation in the process. No certainty how true that is because the diesel has no shot of ever making it to the states. Direct injection in gas engines also pays off a little bigger in the EU because one thing it buys you is the opportunity to use an initial burst to cool the air charge during compression, and then a second burst to enrich the mixture slightly just before the spark plug fires -- that gives you a heterogeneous mixture that is near stoichiometric at the point of ignition, but leaner beyond that such that the overall average concentration is lean. You can do this when power demands are lower (e.g. cruising) and save some fuel that way. Unfortunately, you can't do that in the U.S. because the laws block that -- the requirement is that the total overall air-fuel ratio must be stoichiometric.
are skyactiv engines with direct injection as prone to carbon build up as others? i was looking into getting the mazda6 until i found out it was a gdi.. makes me hesitant. i want a car that wont have to be in the shop every 50k miles to remove the build up... i also know nothing really about cars and wouldnt feel comfortable trying to clean it myself. toyotas dont interest me, honda accord is my other choice however the newer models are also gdi engines.
These guys should be the new Top Gear (or something like that).. Great drivers, great chemistry. With a bigger budget they could do wonders. I don't f*n care if they don't give us enough "useful consumer information", they're entertaining to watch.
Mrwaffleandmilk that is happening everywhere. That is what happens when you mostly leave it up to the seller to post the numbers. Higher is better for them
Some cars do have smaller engines, depends on manufacturer. I believe they charge car taxes based on the co2 and other emissions of the vehicle. Also i think it affects their insurance costs too.
No they're not the same. The mazda 6 american version has a 2.5 naturally aspirated gasoline engine and we only have sedans here. European versions have 2 options. A 2.0 gas engine or a 2.2 diesel engine. They also offer all wheel drive there and a wagon version. You can search it on google if you don't believe me. Gregory was right.
I have a 2014 mazda 6. 2.5l and i hate it. The wind noise is absolutly bad. Very very bad. And the car feel heavy and not stabile.... but it is a very realibale car
THESE GUYS KNOW HOW TO DRIVE FAST, YES! BUT ONLY THAT. THEY NEVER HAVE BEEN OBJECTIVES WITH THE SCORING. CHECK BY YOURSELF WITH SANITY. FOR EXAMPLE: CHECK THE SCORE OF THE VIDEO OF "NEW VAUXHALL CORSA 3 DOOR (TEAM REVIEW)" AND CHECK LATER THE SCORE OF THE VIDEO "THE LEXUS NX 300H (TEAM REVIEW)" THIS IS ONLY A LITTLE SAMPLE ABOUT THEIR "OBJETIVE" SCORING!!!
Basic to the top model, they all have the same engine for the Mazda6. Unless you're using the diesel engine, that thing is wayyyy better - both in fuel economy and performance.

are skyactiv engines with direct injection as prone to carbon build up as others? i was looking into getting the mazda6 until i found out it was a gdi.. makes me hesitant. i want a car that wont have to be in the shop every 50k miles to remove the build up... i also know nothing really about cars and wouldnt feel comfortable trying to clean it myself. toyotas dont interest me, honda accord is my other choice however the newer models are also gdi engines.
What is the obsession of all these reviews referring to large sedan cars as Rep cars ?
Also, why are there constant comparisons to the Ford Mondeo ?
Be careful of the 2.2 Diesel. Lots of issues with them, which can get very expensive.
Such as?
I have the 2017 2.2 diesel its super reliable but stay away from the 2013-2016 diesel engines
Fun position talented ah CEO so name keep capital supporter praise than.
Wtf you smoking!
@@crisfiler6128 Suspect it's a 'bot.
These guys should be the new Top Gear (or something like that).. Great drivers, great chemistry. With a bigger budget they could do wonders. I don't f*n care if they don't give us enough "useful consumer information", they're entertaining to watch.
here we observe the wild Mazda 6, ready to pounce on the prey which is a Ford mondeao
How the hell do they measure mpg ratings? 56 mpg wtf?
mpg is measured different in the uk. a gallon for example is bigger there. all cars over there have higher mpg then the us
Mrwaffleandmilk that is happening everywhere. That is what happens when you mostly leave it up to the seller to post the numbers. Higher is better for them
A friend told me that it is the policy there in europe. That's why their engines are usually smaller.
Will never sell as the steering wheel is on the wrong side
Video tradition assist fight crack actual link equation.
Lmao thought that was superhands in the back
A Shitdeo is the bench mark for midsize family sedans? It doesn't even come close to the Mazda 6.
+enemay Autocar rated it best in class up to the point it was replaced by the mk5, wich is rated third best.
enemay This is the only generation that they haven't shared a platform.
Wow .. that’s what I call a comprehensive review top gear thanks - a real clear picture of this car. Thanks .... for nothing 🙄
I came here to see the car not a bunch of shots of people
Its funny how Europeans talk about how massive cars are but here in the states they are just considered mid-sized vheicles...lol
This has to be the least practical car review I've ever seen.
I have a 2014 mazda 6. 2.5l and i hate it. The wind noise is absolutly bad. Very very bad. And the car feel heavy and not stabile.... but it is a very realibale car
I have the estate version of this and I HAAAAAATE the way it drives🙄
Thinking about getting one.... The saloon. Is the ride that terrible?
Anyone here drove the automatic, dodgy leg means I need one. Feedback appreciated.
The Mazda does look like a BMW E60 from the side.
Wow, got a higher score than the Audi S7. Are you even trying to let these ratings make sense?
They don't even have a scoreboard or anything like that. So I guess we'll never know.
The 6 spanked the Ford! Wind noise at 130 MPH, really?
Come on people! You were using the basic model!
Basic to the top model, they all have the same engine for the Mazda6. Unless you're using the diesel engine, that thing is wayyyy better - both in fuel economy and performance.
We all know that the Mazda 6 start with 2.0 for the basic and 2.5 for the full options. I bet it is not the same.
Abodi jamboOo 2.5L in all trims.
Jeric Tamayo That is true only in the US, everywhere else there is a 2.0L option.
Better than top gear tho
The ISport tires are ugly tho
Wonder how much Mazda paid them...
Mike Jones Why do you think that?
Mazda build great cars. Simple.
