@@hardcorehardo I never own one, but a friend of mine do own the old A-class. It's... CRAP! Great for city driving, rubbish for long journey.
This is also gonna be the last RWD 1 Series which is a shame, but I was speaking to my local dealer, they said the 2 Series Coupe will also go to FWD but the M240i could be in with a chance of staying RWD.
This is the first Mercedes A-class what I would buy.

I would spend a bit more get a Volvo S60 or V60
The styling and the interior is fab, but one thing they didn't mention here is the visibility out is terrible.
I took one for a test drive and found you can't see shit out of the back so you really NEED to tick the parking sensors option!!

A class looks way better than the 1 series
Nice little hot hatch. Quite a bit more expensive than the 7th gen Golf GTi but atleast it looks like a fun hot hatch, not like the boring 7th gen Golf GTi. Can't even compare to the very very odd 1st gen A class. Should have had airbag suspension which other Mercedes models have. Why this AMG model doesn't have air suspension? It can't be the lack of space to fit, air suspension is much more compact than springs and shock absorbers together. This would have made it more comfortable and still sporty to drive.
i would pay money to sit next to tiff in a 1 Series.... or 1.4 Volkswagen Jetta 5-Speed manual becuase its my favorite car
Top tip: get a 2wd manual FL A250, better ride, no annoying gearbox(eco mode borderline dangerous) and a couple of grand cheaper.
As an owner of an A220d Amg Line I can say it's actually really very refined on the road, however the A250 really is harsh due to its AMG suspension. However, they're both better than a 1 series and are much more confidence inspiring than an A3 on a country road.

The Driver Power Survey owners said this car is very hard and not a comfortable, soft ride at all. I wouldn't NOT like it for that reason.

Do not buy this car people my 16 plate A class piston snapped this year despite always being serviced at the manufacturer garage. Mercedes made me front up costs towards a new engine and refused to cover 100%. Shocking brand that only care about their sale and nothing after that. Failure after 65000 miles on a diesel

Tell you what... this car is fucking everywhere at the moment. I get the impression everyone one who would've normally bought a Golf, A3 or 1 series, has gone over to Merc. So from that perspective it's a success for Merc. A massive success. Wouldn't buy one myself, but that's just me. It's still a massively popular car.... And it's not a Golf. so.... it's not a bland ugly piece of tat.
The newer models make 381hp 💪🏼

Paula Taylor not really. the 160d and 180d have the same renault 1.5dci with different power outputs(89 and 108 bhp respectively) and the car itself is based on the Megane chassis

Nope, only the engine of the 160d and 180d is renault, the rest of the car is
entirely mercedes, is the same chassis used for the b-class, the cla and gla.
It looks a million times better then the 1-series :D
All other BWM´s look rather good but the 1-series looks kinda awful.

*ahem* sorry about that, we were talking about BMW design were we? The sad thing is ever since the S-Class came out, all new Mercedes have began to look the same like Audis, which is a big shame, as the previously lineup of C, E and S couldn't look more different. It won't be long before the A-Class and the CLA-Class look the same as a small C-Class. And now it's BMW which are JUST distinguishable between each other.

what is actually the difference between Front Wheel Drive and 4WD? Can someone explain as I never really understand!
Do you mean difference between 4wd and awd? If not Fwd drives front wheels rears don’t receive any power from engine, 4wd delivers power to all wheels.

I Owned a first gen a class an a140 interior quality was pretty good but the ride was a bit hard

TheGreatLoco does fifth gear even air anymore. cuz ever since Discovery Turbo screwed up things with their "redesigned" channel I haven't been seeing fifth gear appearing that much.

this is the old model that was face lifted a year and a half ago aproax. the latest revision has different exhaust pipes, different buttons on the wheel etc...
