Saloon cars still make sense. Better fuel efficiency, better handling and cheaper price all add to making it an easy decision. Only plus I found when having an SUV was the easy entry and exit. The seat at your posterior level makes that easy.

Most of the reviewers are obsessed with the new micro turbocharged engines, 10 years ago most car were NA. There's a pleasure of driving a car that has a linear and strong power band, I drive a Mazda3 with a 2.5 NA engine, and it pulls strong all the way to the red line, there's no lag, no hesitation, no waiting, there's always a response.

Well in the end the engine are proven and reliable, but the industry loves small turbo engines since they dont last as long.

As the owner of a petrol skyactiv Mazda3 which uses similar engines avoid the diesel unless doing big miles. It's shame Mazda killed the 6 but I'll still be looking at one for my next car. The petrol engines are bulletproof.

I disagree that the auto gearbox is slow. It is very clever and if you try to drive it and keep the speed at 20, you will know what I mean . Try to do it on a dsg gearbox at such slow speed and you will get your head knock off because the dsg gearbox is indecisive of which gear to go at such slow speed

I do wish these outfits would research the product they talk about:
    1. "The HUD is an option on the Sport Nav+". No it's not, it's standard.
    2. The engine isn't turbocharged..no, but it's not a 998cc lump (as per any other manufacturer) that's had to have been turbocharged to within an inch of its life to get any power out of it.
    3. At 9:54, "the Sport Nav+ has a better ride quality than the GT Sport Nav becuase it has smaller wheels"...err, it has exactly the same 19" rims.

I have the top spec and got 5K off new unregistered. May the SUV love affair continue. And, what you get for that money puts BMW and Mercedes to shame. Not to mention the 3 year service for £300 and much cheaper to insure. It's also easy to enter and exit as it's not low to the ground unlike the Insignia. Only, draw back I've found in my 6 month ownership is the drivers seat is just not got quite enough adjustment, but then I'm 6'"2".

Good review, thank you. I've always found Mazda dealers very helpful with good customer service though maybe a little more expensive to service than similar brands. On my shortlist though not the most exciting interior or tech. Guess that's why they are reasonably priced.

I don't understand the demand for SUV type cars. They don't drive that well, they aren't necessarily any more practical than a typical hatchback on which most are based and I find them all far too bland to look at.

@@krokuspokus2403 Not a long time ago, media in our country reported of a lady in a big SUV who killed a small child while going very slowly inside a living area among block of flats. Her argument was that should could not see less than 9 meters from the car. So it is only wrong imagination to think that you have better visibility :-( . SUV are all the way dangerous, non-sense car for a standard road use that are mainly a matter of current marketing fashion, and maybe a false feel of safety. DSG gear boxes might shift faster than Mazda's 6-speed gearbox, but the former is "jerky" and stutters at low speeds when the computer is trying to figure out when and how much it should apply the clutch. It's not very pleasant for slow city driving.

You won’t find any review comparing the 6 to a 5 series due to price. The vast majority of people looking for a saloon in this price range will be looking at this against the bmw 3. This is why the superb is always in this bracket rather than reviewed against a 7 series or maybe 5.
You personally may look at the Mazda as a 6 rival, but you are in the minority.

Awesome review! Mine isn't even the latest model (it's a 2010 hatchback), but it seems like Mazda went "only fix what needs fixing" with the 6, and not much about the driving experience sounds much different besides ride comfort, even with completely different underpinnings. Question
    Diesel engines 150hp and 175hp versions .
What is the difference between them as I know both option after remapp goes to around 210hp .turbo is the same as I asked Mazda customer service .
    So where is the difference?

    • @gethinchristian
      @gethinchristian 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

No difference. It's just the factory map that is different. One is tuned for a lower power output as far as I know. A stage one remap will bring both versions to the same power output.

    • @fF-jb4gs

Just restricted from factory they're the same engine, although some say the gearbox/ratios are different in each . I remapped my 2.0 petrol 145bhp to 180-185bhp. Bought a obdlink and bought the program from versatuner and its brilliant, I can switch back at anytime
