Anyone who cries about this movement is silly. This movement is a blessing. Every good watchmaker can work on it and parts are readily available and cheap. So when it’s service time you won’t get a pu-nch in the guts.
Breitling maintenance service prices are the same for all their time / GMT watches. Regardless of which movement is inside. And they are pretty reasonable. So nothing to worry about.
I own a “New” Superocean for 18 months. It’s amazing. Polishing beutiful, time accuratelly. Clasp oh my god so confortable. The purchase experience in AD was really good! I’ll buy it again.
I got the orange dial version last week, absolutely love it, had to change the strap to a metal bracelet though, can't stand the garish strap it came with.

Saw this watch in person and it’s so beautiful. The anti reflective coating of the crystal is amazing and the metal work is top notch for sure. Legit watch.
The minute hand is very important. The previous generation Superocean, which didn't have this feature, almost made me succumb to the murky depths of the ocean while sitting at my desk. Its an error that could happen to any desk diver.
At around 4:32, look at the micro shot of the second hand passing the minute hand. You can pretty clearly see the under side of the second hand. It looks like it was never touched by a finisher…. I love the watch but I wish I could unsee that one… Danke Jenny!!!
It's assembled and finished by Breitling and they send it to COSC. Imagine it was a Hublot, they would charge double the Breitling without any of the specs 😬
Having an ETA inside wasn't a problem when they were Valjoux and everyone from Rolex and Heuer to Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe was using Vj 23s and 72s. The obsession with in house manufacture is comparatively recent.
Jenni you’re slipping!! Not sure why she kept saying it’s a chronometer but it’s NOT certified. You can’t have a chronometer without it being COSC Certified unless I missed some change!?! 🤪🤪🤪 love the previous model much more than this shiny quirky one
Lovely Video, and happy that this watch gets finally a little bit of recognition, but a few errors: - first it's COSC certified, like every watch from Breitling since 1999 -and the design is based only on the Ref. 2005 Slow Motion and nothing else. And the hands have the surname of "paddle hands" And also if you like the design you should absolutely check out the Bronze Version with the Green Fumé Dial in real light, it's mind-blowing how different the vibe of this watch is, compared to the stainless steel versions.
I bought a pre-owned Superocean that immediately preceded this model and love it. I think it's better looking and it has more water resistance (and is COSC certified). I have it on the rubber strap and it's great. That giant chapter ring on the newer model is hard to like.
I bought this exact Black superocean 42 on rubber back in Q4 of 2022. As it was quite a new release then, there isn't much pre-owned available but I managed to get a 25% discount from my AD which comes up to about USD 3.5k as the retail was about USD4.7K then. I choose this over the BB58 as I find it slightly small and IMO the fit and finish of Breitling is a notch above Tudor and its the same price after discount which the BB58 has none. The AR coating is superb and the crystal looks like it isn't there at certain angles. Its suppose to be my beater but surprisingly I got the most questions and compliments with this among my small collection of Sub41, GMTc, Speedy Pro and Santos.
I have the Kelly slater edition, I bought it upon release and I didn’t even know it was limited edition. The movement is extremely disappointing but Breitlings build quality and just everything else about the watch is stunning, I got a good deal on it. But they absolutely need to put a better movement in it.
it is both and chronometer and certified! The hand is for the chronograph hand from the superocean slow motion mkii/mkiii. It is not a combination of the hands of the slow motion mki and the deep sea…🤣🤣
Exactly!! Such lazy work here with so much misinformation. At 3:27, that “big rectangle” you reference is not a seconds hand, but a chronograph minutes hand. You know… hence the name slow motion! You did show the first SuperOcean - that’s a very elegant watch that they made a capsule collection of. It’s called the SuperOcean Heritage 57 and is only 9.9mm thick.
I think you're spot on with the pricing and picking these up used. I would love to own one, but not at retail price. I am glad for the accuracy, but would expect something a bit more modern for that price. I don't even want in-house, because a chronometer SW300 movement with 56 hours power reserve would at least be a bit more modern. Other than watch nerd level complaint, the watch itself is very comfortable on wrist and well built. The bezel has nice clicky action/sound. It's relatively thin for that depth rating and the quick adjust on the bracelet version is very welcome. Another person at a watch meetup a few days ago brought up this watch and we both agreed that while the minute hand was a bit jarring at first, we've both come to appreciate it and would like these. For anybody that can, I recommend trying these on before writing them off. I would like to pick one of these up in the next couple years, but it's competing for other watch desires. Although the 44mm fits my 7 inch wrist, I would go for the 42mm as it hits my personal sweet spot for this particular design. Side note: I just tried on the new rainbow version at the Breitling boutique last week. It's a fun watch and all the different straps available for a very reasonable price (sans deployant clasp) would be worth getting. I personally would probably stick with blue or turquoise looking variant.
Such a cool watch. So great to have a main stream luxury brand doing something radically design different from a Sub. The Superocean is very nicely made. If you like the design try them on the wrist wear very well.
Good review jenni - bought one early last year, loved it but want to downsize the collection (which didn’t happen!) so sold it this year….major regrets, it’s the perfect casual diver, photos/videos don’t do it justice - its definitely not worth full retail price but would recommend pre owned👍🏻
What the heck is up with that minute hand is that it's designed for depth diving. The lumed square would easily be visible in murky and dark water so the diver can see the down time before having to surface. It's truly a practical feature. Good job Breitling!
Hi Jenni, a fellow St.Andrew’s grad here, I enjoy watching your videos and don’t normally comment however I think this is a great looking watch. I bought the 46mm version in blue last year and have not regretted it once. It of course has the same hands and I’d say it big square makes it much easier to read the time in the dark (I suppose under the water if anyone actually takes these diving) controversial question, does the movement really matter once you establish its accuracy and it’s not a display back ? You’re never going to see it…

Beautiful watch, but this is my problem with Bell & Ross and Doxa as well…you can get an 8800 co axial master chronometer from omega for way less. Hard to justify $5k for an ETA!
Really like these “newer” SuperOceans; especially the 44 Aqua Blue & 42 White w/ Blue ring versions. Yellow would be my 3rd choice … Breitling did a great job with this design. 👍🏻
I really think the Breitling CHRONOMAT 36 worth to have a review, just to have your thoughts and opinion, it seems really a beautiful one also, and not been mentioned enough,
The big PROBLEM with the minute hand is that most people will mistake it for the hour hand, as the majority of dive watches have some sort of shape on the hour hand. This is especially problematic for us Tudor owners.
Breitling charges the same independent on which movement is inside. Check out their website with the service prices. They only distinguish between complications / functions.
The Thor’s Hammer minute hand is funny. I like the design - but even used I’d rather spend a little more and get a new Tudor. I think Breitling is in for rough times.

I briefly flirted with this watch recently with the idea of selling my BB58 for it but glad I didn’t. In the flesh it’s not as good as the Tudor or my older Omega Seamaster so it stayed in the shop and the Tudor and Omega remain in my collection.
Only Rolex watches retain their value... Because of their limited availability... Would have liked you to talk about the bezel... It is like the Longines Legend Diver
I'm not sure what the purpose of this video is. About 99.9% of brand new watches depreciate dramatically as soon as you buy them, not unlike a brand new car.
My $800USD Tissot 1938 Chronometre has a COSC certified ETA 2824-2 movement inside.. can’t justify thousands more for a watch with the same movement to be honest.
Breitling is a partner in Kinesee movements along with Tudor and they use an ETA movement? They could have used the same movement Tudor uses in their dive watches with a 72 hour power reserve. I wouldn’t buy that watch. Stick with the B01, B09 movements with Breitling. Those are superb movements.
They have Superocean Heritage with their ‘in-house’ movement for that reason. A friend of mine has this exact model as shown in this video and while I like the way it looks, I can’t get over the fact that there is ETA inside for $5k+. I have Tudor GMT which is more than a grand cheaper and to me has much better quality than this Breitling
@koolpep They had use of Tudor movements in exchange for Tudor using the B01. They used them in other watches. ETA is fine, but for $5 grand They should give 72 hours power reserve.
All movements Breitling is using are COSC certified - this one is too. The dial says Chronometer and the case back has certified chronometer engraved on it.
I was so pissed when the watch Brietling trailed as modelled on the Slow Timer turned out to be an ordinary dive watch that the fact it's butt ugly as well was almost irrelevant.
Disagree on the movement: the 2824 has a known design fault in the manual wind mechanism, it's not a question of if it will break but when. $5k for a watch with a 2824 is laughably unacceptable.
Absolutely, I don't have a problem with ETA, but their most basic movement (with a known design issue) at this price is totally unacceptable. At the very least I'd want a 2892-A2 (or Sellita SW300), much better movement and still cheap to service 3rd party
It is COSC certified hence chronometer written n the dial and engraved on the case back Certife Chronometre.
I began my watch collecting with Breitling so they are always dear to my heart. The build quality, and their polishing were always up there.

She's a good solid, yet elegant ⌚ 👍
I briefly flirted with this watch recently with the idea of selling my BB58 for it but glad I didn’t. In the flesh it’s not as good as the Tudor or my older Omega Seamaster so it stayed in the shop and the Tudor and Omega remain in my collection.
TUDOR is Trash 🗑️ BREITLING IS THE BETTER WATCH 😎
@@SIZZO76 the Breitling is just ugly. Didn’t do it for me.
all Swiss watches that say chronometer must be certified.
Only Rolex watches retain their value... Because of their limited availability...
Would have liked you to talk about the bezel... It is like the Longines Legend Diver
Rolex ships 10 million watches a year. They're very available it's just that they make you jump through the hoops which creates that impression :)
Price please
Why don’t you actually watch the video? She clearly states the price
I'm not sure what the purpose of this video is. About 99.9% of brand new watches depreciate dramatically as soon as you buy them, not unlike a brand new car.
My $800USD Tissot 1938 Chronometre has a COSC certified ETA 2824-2 movement inside.. can’t justify thousands more for a watch with the same movement to be honest.
bring back the old version
This would not be my first choice when shopping for a Breitling.
The caliber that they have made an agreement with kenissi is very thick and for this reason they did not use it in this model.
Breitling already announced they will have their own time only movement in Q1/2025. They are working on it.
@koolpep They had use of Tudor movements in exchange for Tudor using the B01. They used them in other watches. ETA is fine, but for $5 grand They should give 72 hours power reserve.
@@rickjason215Yes indeed but the Tudor movement is quite thick and hence might not have worked in this watch. Their own movement is probably slimmer.
The hour hand is too short as well. But most legible chapter ring evAr!
All Breitling watches are COSC certified. Engraved on the case-back.
"Sketchy dudes wear Brietling" - Watches of Espionage
Guess I'm a spy then. Where Is this quote from?
Well I guess I am sketchy then.
How can it be COSC, and not certified 🤷🏻
All movements Breitling is using are COSC certified - this one is too. The dial says Chronometer and the case back has certified chronometer engraved on it.
ETA is the shiznit.

It's much better than the awful one on the Tudors 🤷♂️
Nice video babes 🏌🏽♂️
The minute hand looks like a woodworkers hammer.
The heritage is better❤
I like the watch but hate the price..
Ich glaube, Ihr Mann ist ein glücklicher Mann. Und er kann es zu schätzen wissen, Sie in seinem Haus zu haben.
The movement is a selita based sw200 not a swatch group 2824 so its a no from me
i have a better question: WTH is with Tudor's hour hand!!
TUDOR is 🗑️ 😂😂😂
