The IC-7100 has an internal sound card. There is a mini-USB jack on the back of the main unit that gives you access to the internal sound card and provides CI-V radio control over USB. I use my IC-7100 regularly for Winlink using Vara HF, Vara FM, and packet.
I still use the TS-890S occasionally, just so I don’t get rusty with it. But on contest weekends it gets a good workout as that’s when I put the most QSOs on it. The IC-7300 is my primary digital rig, and the FT-991A is my everything else rig. I try not to let any of them get jealous of each other…
@@ND3N it makes sense, I have used the 890 for digital modes and it barely gets warm and the fan rarely runs. But for digital modes if yaesu offers a three warranty why not drive it since you have warranty coverage 😀
You know where all the settings are on the 991a. You know the pluses and minuses. You know the work arounds. Sure it's fun to have new gear but your confidence in the 991a has been hard earned. Swiss army knife. @@ND3N

Ts990s then you picture the 890 ?
You mentioned the 890 was not your daily use rig any reason for this? Are using a cheaper rig for ft8?

The Yaesu FT DX 10
The IC7851 is no longer commercially available.
HRO has them in stock.
Thanks. I used HRO as my primary source for what’s available…
See the comment in reply to yours. They are also shown on the Yaesu site
Get another 991a. I have two, very handy.
I’m really thinking about the 710 AESS. But still flexible
