    Weird Al's 'Word Crimes' parody of 'Blurred Lines' is great, but for a genuinely mind-blowing demonstration of his talent, you have GOT to check out his original track 'Hardware Store'.

      What is impressive is his parody of Bob Dylan's " Subterranean Homesick Blues" called "Bob" . It is hard enough to write songs but Weird Al writes a song where the lyrics read the same backwards and forwards on the cue cards. Most people do not even realize he is actually doing this.

      @@marybloody615 True.
      I always forget about it, but "Bob" is absolutely BONKERS for how difficult it must have been to pull off from a songwriting perspective.

    The best thing about this song is that the movie had not been released yet. It was written based on spoiler posted on the internet. A few minor tweaks were made after he viewed a charity pre-screening of the film.

      This needs a pin! The man is a literal genius. And the source lyrics are completely nonsensical too, making them all the harder to match with these.

    • @RatingsFor
      @RatingsFor 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@Tijuanabill The lyrics aren't nonsensical, just abstract. The "jester" is Bob Dylan, the girl who sang the blues is Janice Joplin, etc. Sorry I'm being a bit pedantic your point still stands.

    You mentioned that you weren't really familiar with "American Pie" (The Day the Music Died) which was the Don McLean song this one parodied, you should! You would be impressed with the writing and the way McLean told his story exclusively through metaphors. This might be one you want to do a little reading before hand so some of the symbolism and metaphors make sense - you won't really lose out on the enjoyment of the song if you do some light research ahead of time...

    What has gotten lost with time is that this was released before The Phantom Menace from only internet leaks. The leaks proved accurate so this is the entire plot of Ep1 The Phantom Menace. So Al not only wrote a parody to a classic song that also told a story in American Pie, but also nailed the plot of an unreleased movie.

    • @TheMedievalman9
      @TheMedievalman9 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not quite. It was _written_ before The Phantom Menace was released. I don't know if he ever intended to release the song before the movie, but Lucasfilm contacted him anyway to ask him not to release the song until at least a few weeks after the movie's premier, and Al was more than happy to accommodate. Everything else you wrote was spot on, though!

    Yeah, Weird Al is a very skilled singer for someone most well-known for being a parody srtist, but while I think he's gotten decently skilled with a couple of different instruments, the one he started with and I think still prefers always leaves me a little bit in awe both in how odd it is and honestly how it fits him - The Accordion. Several of his parodies are polka or polka-influenced, and he just manages to do so much with an accordion that it's honestly crazy.

    All of these reactions always makes me want to see people react to Queensryche. And either to their song Queen of the Ryche, Empire, or the Operation:Mindceime album because while many of the songs are good on their own. The entire album is an experience.

      Not Weird Al but check out Bad Lip Reading where they take parts from Star Wars movies and have Yoda complaining about Seagulls to Luke in a song called "Seagulls - Stop It Now". Bad Lip Reading takes clips and changes the dialogue to movies , songs , sports and TV . Other songs to check are Sample of my Pasta - from Korean boy band BTS (Idol), Russian Unicorn from a Michael Buble song (Haven't meet you yet), Morning Dew which has bits from Bruno Mars(The Lazy Song), Lady Gaga( Alejandro) and Jayz(?). They all loved what Bad Lip Reading did but Taylor Swift and company did not like what they did with her song - "Your Song" changed to (Rockin')All Nite Long with Wiz Khalifa

    I thinks he is the son of Frankie Yankovic, an accordion master. I believe he was the Polka King, hence Al's early accordion parodies.

    Its an actual crime that he ismt in the hall of fame. He should have an entire wing in place named after him. Can anyone name another person doing what he does? And to be his lebel of success as well. If you really are who you say you are( im from idaho , idk rap too well) join the push to help him get what he has definitely earned over a 40 year career. LETS GET AL IN THE HALL

    There are songs that are not on his albums that get played in concert. There is a paridy of Black or White from MJ that was never released because MJ asked him not to due to the meaning of that song.

    “Yawn-Ko-Veech” is how his family pronounces it but he has accepted people saying it wrong and says the way people say it (wrong) is now his official stage name😅
    But yeah the OG artist accidentally sang Al’s lyrics at a concert cause they were stuck in his head 😂😂
