It depends whether you count the OVA at the end or the ending where they both meet in their next life. This anime really has a strong feeling of melancholy to it. Like Clannad, It's hard to not be sad when re-listening/watching.
Out of the handful of anime that I have seen that were supposed to make you cry, this was the one that I cried the most on, it just has the perfect instrument for sad music, that freaking piano.

Guys, if there was a Season 2 coming, it would be the prequel of Angel Beats -- How the SSS was created and how all the members got there. There's already a manga for it, just type in Angel Beats manga -- it's still ongoing :)
I watched both Angel Beats! and Clannad/After Story. I didnt really cry or get upset in Clannad but I did like it. It had a lot of emotions and a lot of episodes (49 total) and Angel Beats! had 14. I had a lot more emotional turmoil in Angel Beats! and liked it A TON BETTER but overall I LOVED BOTH AND CANT REALLY COMPARE THEM. Watch both and see my point. Clannad marked my 40th anime as of 2-24-13. I started watching anime 3-10-11. Take my advice, watch both, pleassee. You wont be disapointed.
I like her too. Yuri is probably by favorite character of the series. I wish they would redo the series only longer because even the writer said, it was impossible to fit all the plot in 13 episodes. That way we can learn more about the other charcter's past and have them develop, the more we know about them, the more emotional it will be when they move on. And also they should fix that plot hole in the end. Those are the only thing I wish they would change for this series.
Also, something I just realized after rewatching it a couple more times- if they don't reach true happiness (after the "Shadows" come out) they become an NPC forever.
