It's awful that a studio providing something so wholesome had this happen.
Ep 11 got me. In fact the fear of dying without being able to express your true emotions and thoughts is one of the worst possible ways to die and Violet helped this man to die in a way where he at least could express himself. The moment where the loved once told her "thank you for bringing back my son" just hurt so much but was so beautiful I had to write about it. Thanks for reading.

@@imrekalman9044 I saw that video too. I enjoyed listening to that Veteran's opinion on how he thought of Violet Evergarden. I though wished that he could have told a little more about it. That Veteran left out stuff from the series that I wish he could've talked about. Yes he was trying to keep his identity/ life private, however I wish that he could've told more about the series. That's just me though. It was a good video none the less.
@@rosemmagutierrez1386 I did not have this feeling. After all we know the series, he was talking about his associated feelings, memories. Although I'm not a vet I happened to have spent a couple of years in uniform, he said nothing I couldn't understand, empathise with.

I don't think it would, the art style of Violet Evergarden is the typical art style of this studio. Another anime this studio animated it Free, which does have a similar art style, but Violet Evergarden is a lot more artistic

This is so true, at least for me. With only 13 episodes, violet evergarden changed my life for the better (this anime was a present in my life, it held my hand and helped me to become a better person, accept myself as I am, gave me confidence and a lot of other things), and it's in my top 1 anime/series of all time, tied with one piece (a wonderful story that touched my heart multiple times too).

Violet Evergarden has everything that I have ever wanted in an anime. Great Animation, Emotional, Great Plot and mini plots, very good characters, a wonderful story, and it's a Masterpiece and I also love that it's unique from all the other animes I've seen (I've seen 300+). Applause to Kyoani and Kana Akatsuki.
Let's give the creator Kana Akatsuki a round of applause too for creating this show. If anyone who deserves praise, it's her. Violet Evergarden is my 2nd Favorite Show and Number 2 out of my Top 5 Anime Legends. If you want to know my Number 1, do not be shy to ask.

Actually, the layout of the city where Violet works (I can't spell it for the life of me) had a lot of influence from Mediterranean architecture, so it's very possible that the music took influence from the Mediterranean, too!

Watching this anime going in blind, without knowing anything about it, was probably one of the best things that have happened to me. I don’t know what I expected, I had only heard the name and seen the art style one or two times, but it was way better than what I thought it would be. This will probably my favourite anime for a long long time...

im not afraid to admit this anime made me cry like i was a child again, so much so after episode 10 i couldnt watch episode 11 because i couldnt even see the screen through my tears i wish i could erase my memory of this show only to rewatch and cry all over again ( probably would still cry if i rewatched it again)

Violet Evergarden's story during the war is sad and lonely. She became a monster and an enemy of people around her. Her past is tragic and painful. Yet, there's also a good thing in those dark times. But there's one most important thing she got from those memories she had that she'll keep until old age. Not just the necklace, or becoming a wiser woman, but her name. She knows that she can't go back in the past, no matter what she do. But her curiousity will change people lives. It doesn't matter if her name and her title, as a doll, will be known throughout the globe. But to learn and find what human heart is and find out what she truly believe in. Never coming back ( 6:20 ) was one of my absolute favorite songs in the series, I could listen to it forever and never get tired of it. The sound gives some sadness but it’s as if tranquility has been found in that sadness, makes me feel less alone 🙂

Devorantem netflix didnt even fund it i think. All they did was buy the rights. Juts think of it like how disney bought star wars. It doesnt mean ep1-6 was made by disney but that disney simply bought it.

It honestly took me rewatching this anime 3 times to fully understand every mesmerizing detail about it. The fact that violet grew up with hardened emotions that made her look and feel to be incapable of such expression, and in every episode, she’s shown different situations of different people that let her feel new, scary and different emotions each time. Every episode, I find myself thinking back to how violet never knew what she was feeling and how closed off she was because of it and it hurt, but then I got to see how much she grew with each letter, and I felt proud that she learned what loneliness was, that she had to try her hardest to not cry writing those letters to the daughter, and how she could finally slightly understand the meaning behind what Gilbert meant when he told her he loved her. She grew, maturing and feeling and loving and found her reasons to go on living even when she had lost everything.
Violet Evegarden is truly such a magnificent tale of such a strong girl with such supportive family and friends. So happy to have watched this as many times as I did.
I only watched it once tho. And i didn't cry at all. Just feel sad. Dunno why people say it's one of the anime that will make you cry list. Maybe I'll rewatch it as there's some anime that i rewatch ended up being one of the best for me

As somewhat of a vet myself this anime holds a very special place in my heart, not only because of its extremely beautiful and tearful story but because it mostly accurately portrays the real struggles of combat and re-integrating back into civilian life. Truly one of my top 5 best animes, possibly even #1 on my list. I really hope that it gets more popular and more recognition. Stay strong and live to be happy! Hooyah!

This anime touched me in a personal level even thought it's not one of my favorites animes. I could relate quite a bit with Violet's feelings and love... Really love this soundtrack!!

I have never had an animated film move me to tears quite like Violet Evergarden did.
The musical scores, the voice actors, the impressive artwork it was all so moving. It made the audience feel part of her world and her torment.
The film allowed the audience to indulge in this fantasy world and sympathise with Violet. I cannot express in words how this movie has moved me, it has inspired me. This is the success of the animation crew, film composer and voice actors. My heart reaches out to the families of those who did not survive the fires of the Kyoto Animation Studio, and especially the lead animator for Violet Evergarden. You are all brilliant and talented individuals and this is recognised in your contribution to this beautiful film.
I doubt anyone will be forgetting the brilliant minds behind the brilliant film anytime soon, that is, Violet Evergarden.
Rest In Peace knowing that your hard work has not gone unnoticed.

I feel like the father that was an author was the saddest for me. People also sleep on the stargazing one, wasn't sad but was absolutely amazing

If Violet Evergarden expresses people's feelings into beautiful heartfelt letters then Evan Call expresses those letters into soul pearcing music. Truly the unsung hero of this brilliant series and the two movies. Violet Evergarden wouldn't have been Violet Evergarden without his music weaving its way into each story like a beautiful tapestry. I'm sure both him and Violet both worked together somewhere in the background.

Just watched the final movie and it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. I love this entire anime every second of it was beautiful. Anyone who hasn’t seen it is truly missing out on an absolutely amazing work of art filled with so much emotion and color. I just want to say thank you to all the people who created it. I am truly great full that someone was capable of making such a masterpiece.

I finished this anime a few weeks ago and literally it’s one of my faves! It made me laugh, cry buckets of tears ( I was literally sobbing no lie) and the music is absolutely gorgeous! It’s gives me chills every time I listen to it! The art style is stunning and I just can’t with this anime! 💜💖 I love how each episode where violet would go on separate contracts all helped her understand love in different ways (both romantically and platonically) but each had their own stories 💯😭 I have never cried so much at an anime before I stg😂💖 Violet is the perfect protagonist, both strong and vulnerable, endearing and caring, she’s amazing 💜💜absolutely beautiful, this series will forever hold a place in my heart ❣ I’m so happy they r making a film 😄💜
This show is one of a kind. I don't think that they'll be a show as this until the year 2100. Good luck to anyone wanting to replicate this show because a story as this is Super Rare. However this show is my 2nd Favorite and is Number 2 out of my Top 5 Anime Legends. If you want to know what my Number 1 is, do not be shy to ask.

Violet Evergarden is one of the best anime that I've seen so far. Most likely it will remain that way (Probably because I want it to stay that way XD) So... I'll be in my room praying to God that Netflix will make infinite seasons of the anime. Voltron doesn't need 8 seasons and yet it has them. Violet Evergarden needs more seasons so there's no problem there XD
Technically, Netflix doesn't make this series, they just paid a lot of money to get the exclusive rights to stream it. Unlike Voltron, where they helped finance it from the get go and can demand as many seasons as they want.

Sadly, since half of the studio one staff at KyoAni were killed in the arson attack, there may not be another season of VE. Kyoto Animation has decided the best revenge is to keep making art, so there's some hope! But some of the main staff for Violet Evergarden passed away . . . so I am not sure.

No words can express, what this Anime is. It´s not beautiful, it´s not emotional, it´s so much more then that. That anime touched my heart and every time I here the music of Violet Evergarden, I´m inundated with emotions

Episode 10 was too much for me. For me that was the most heart touching and sad episode. The emotions, the music, and the tears. I never thought that letters were for Ann for 50 years

Is Gilbert DEAD or ALIVE?

The answer is yes. In the Light Novel he is still alive, however in the anime his status is remained unknown.
His body was never found, and the person who opened the door in the final episode was not shown. It was never confirmed that he was dead - only "considering" the option that he died in action.
In the trailer for Violet Evergarden, you will see a scene showing a close up shot of Gilbert's face with the scar from after the war, and an eyepatch on his right eye (as he lost it).
I feel like Kyoani version that he is dead is better than the LN version where he is alive... The light novel version of why he hid the fact that he was alive doesn't really make sense to me. For example: why would he tell the Lieutenant he was alive but not his family?
A separate note: The scene towards the end when Gilbert's brother visits Violet at the Doll company, it was supposed to be Gilbert that visited Violet. However, it was changed from the LN version by Kyoani which I feel like was a good decision by them.

I briefly saw this show on Netflix not giving it really any thought, watched the trailer, and read reviews but never actually started watching.
It wasn’t until a couple days later I couldn’t get the soundtrack and animation style out my head, and so decided to watch the first episode. All I can say after that is that I immediately got hooked and couldn’t stop watching and thinking about the words Violet kept saying.
violet evergarden to me is a perfect anime. the visuals, the music, the beautiful story and the amazing characters and character development. it will always have a piece of my heart. it really changed my perspective on life and recovery and self-forgiveness. it's such a treasure

Okay, this anime is probably the best I've ever seen. The story is very well put together, the characters are loveable, the art style is *PHENOMENAL* , and even the animation is *AMAZING* as well. It surprisingly didn't make me cry but it did hit me in the feels *harshly* (I'm still on a mission to find a anime that will make me physically cry and so far it's failing) but overall this anime was amazing. Very well done and even the soundtrack is amazing. I love anime with orchestrated soundtracks because it beautiful
Have you tried Assassination Classroom? It's the only one (alongside Violet Evergarden) that made me cry, but it was a much deeper cry than Violet's one

It was a magical journey to witness. Violet, whose hands had once hurt many people were able to weave words to heal even more. She was a slave to circumstances, yet she taught us how its never too late to reform ourselves. The show is as inspiring as it is heart wrenching. I am glad that Kyoto Animation found the strength to return to its former glory and heal the wounds, just like their masterful creation - Violet did.
