    I'm unable to touch the ball of my foot between the 4th & 5th toe. The slightest touch gives me shooting pains. It's been 2weeks now and im unable to put any weight on it. At night it feels like pins and needles followed by my leg going to sleep. I don't have insurance right now to see a doctor. Any suggestions on what I can do to get some relief? I've been taking inflammatories and using lidocaine as well as biofreeze

    Podiatrists tell me I have a high arch and flexible foot, not a good combo they say. I had arch pain, heel pain and now ball of foot pain. I think I need amputation and get some of those blade runner legs like the South African dude.

      oh no no @jodyroper! It is not common your foot type. What has your Podiatrist suggested?

    • @jodyroper
      @jodyroper 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Feet&Co custom orthodox that I purchased, rehab which I've done and continue on my own but MRIs show no sign of PF they say my tendons look great, nerve conduction tests were normal, I've been to a bio mechanical expert worked on hip, quad, hamstring balanced strength, I've tried natural toes. I've changed my diet to anti inflammatory foods, I have lost 30lbs from 195 to 165 which is my college wrestling walk around weight. Two years now and it's better but the pain is always present when standing or walking and running is not in the equation. This has changed my life completely from work to what I do with my family. I'm trying hard but it seems like a dead end road to full recovery.

    • @grantthefootdoc
      @grantthefootdoc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi Jody, the positive is that your MRI and tests are normal. That's great. it's definitely as a result of lifestyle. You've certainly made massive changes. Unfortunately, sometimes resolution is hindered cause of age, duration of pain...etc..
      Does your orthotics have any ball of foot forefoot pads ? to reduce pressure off the ball?

    • @jodyroper
      @jodyroper 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Feet&Co no at the time they were made I was not having any ball of foot pain but I am now, I will make a appointment with the orthodox specialist to have some adjustments made. Temporarily I have a gel pad that fits on the ball of my foot. The pain is in the last three toes more, almost below the ball at the bottom or below the ball of foot?

    • @jodyroper
      @jodyroper 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Feet&Co one strange thing no podiatrist I've seen has a answer for but when I'm barefoot the pain is 80% better but when I put any shoe on the pain is there and gets worse as the day goes on. Do you have any idea why that is,?

    I have ball of the foot pain Have throbbing pain. It hurts to walk. I am a basketball player & the pivot area is inflamed and red. There is an ugly yellow/white hard callus that I think may be a deep blister. I could to find any spot to drain the blister. So I feel as if the callus is soo thick now that I'm unable to self treat this. The pain occurred a day after a rigorous 2 hour outdoor basketball training session. Pavement has much to do with this. I am sure...the pain did not come until the next day. I've been using an alcohol/epsom salt mix liquid to rub on the foot and I tried to attend to the area of pain. I did not use any creams or stuff such as arnica gel. Hopefully you will see this before I wast my time going to a med express...takes sefxeral weeks to see a foot doctor. Any advice is appreciated. I am fit and do plyometric exercises daily btw. and oh the show you showed in the video is a Mizuno not a Brooks. Mizuno is a great shoe and on same level as Brooks I think.

    This pain came after two days of rest from running 50 km per week. Been sitting most of the time. The shoes I wear for running and walking are highly padded soles. Maybe it started from that one time I sprinted to the bus.

    • @grantthefootdoc
      @grantthefootdoc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey! Thanks for your comment. Running 50km/week and resting only isn't gonna cut it for adequate recovery during your two days. Was this a gradual increase to 50km/week?

    • @HushemFlupskluk
      @HushemFlupskluk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey wow thanks for your reply! Yes it was a gradual increase to 50 kilometer of running per week over this year. I did have some minor injuries in other places in the legs but this all healed over this first half year. To be short, I did not rest enough during the week in that period. When I implemented 2 days of rest per week I gradually increased my mileage from 30 kilometer per week to 40. Then from 40 kilometer per week to 50. I am doing this from oktober to achieve that goal I set which is to run 1600 kilometer in one year.
      Last week when resting two days this pain in the ball of my left foot appeared. Strangelly when resting. Because of this pain in the ball of my left foot I had 5 days of rest.
      On rest day five I iced it with one cold pack a couple of times. This really helped alot. On day 6 and 7 of the week I picked up running again and included icing the ball of the foot a number of times during the days.
      I really hope this is not a chronical injury because it is not healed yet. But during my last two runs last week it did not affect my (poor) performance. It seems it is a minor injury and caused by this sprint I had to have my bus in time. Perhaps I stepped on a marble or something like that during that one sprint.
      For sure I will visit a podo-therapist when this pain keeps coming back! For sure I will have more rest to heal this injury aswell!

    • @grantthefootdoc
      @grantthefootdoc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! That's pretty decent amount of mileage of running. Besides icing are you doing any other types of rehabilitation? Are you doing any other exercise?

    • @HushemFlupskluk
      @HushemFlupskluk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good morning! Thank you I work hard to achieve this weekly mileage. This is pretty much what I am abled to do now consistantly without having injuries after. For recovery I like to walk alot aswell during most of my days. For that I have a treadmill in my home. Mostly after my runs I have some vegetables and fruits in the blender and I have fish oil capsules to have the nutrients for my body to recover. And I eat some nuts and seeds and dried fruits.
      Just before the run I mostly do some foamrolling. The first 5 km some run-walking and in between a few dynamic stretch excersizes and running at a heart reate at about 70% of my maximum. I have to have my HR pretty low when running most of the times to prevent injuries aswell.
      Would you recommend static stretching for my foot mechanics to improve? My tight ankles might have a fair share in this pain I had in the ball of my left foot last couple of weeks. The pain did go away more or less. I already had a 50km week after but still there is a little bump in the place where it hurt.
      Thanks again for your replies!

    • @grantthefootdoc
      @grantthefootdoc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hmm..I personally am not a big fan of the treadmill. Proper foot running mechanics are thrown out purely cause the 'ground' is moving for us. Do you mix up your rehab with swimming, yoga, massage therapy and Podiatry?

  • @ZimCrusher
    @ZimCrusher 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've been running longer distance.
    Issue is, once I get past 10K I start to get pain in the ball of the foot and base of the toes.
    feels like the sock is crumpled, or someone stuck a hair scrunchy in my shoe. It's right where the toes connect to the foot.
    Now, if I remove the shoe (stop running) and feel inside, there is no deformation of the insert, or my sock.
    the pain will last about 30 minutes after I stop running, then go away, but that section is still tender when massaged.
    When walking around, it's fine.
    I'm just getting frustrated, because my muscles, and lungs can easily handle the distance, and every time, it's like at the 10k mark, this starts.
    Recommendations?

    I NEED HELP PLEASEEEE. I have had this pain for months, pushed thru it for about two months, (bad idea), but then it came time for my doctors appointment. I play football a lot and have had to miss months and months and it seems to not be getting better at all. The doctor said it is inflammation and has me going to PT once to twice a week. It has been feeling so bad and Ive been staying off it for soooo long. Please help me, I need this to heal fast, and it feels the worst it has ever been. Whenever I bend my big toe back, the pain is on the bottom, and when I stand on it, there is pain. Im getting so stressed because my football season starts soon. Please suggest something!!!!!! @@grantthefootdoc so the treatment I'm having right now is I am wearing a "boot", to minimize the movement of my toe, and I am going to physical therapy, doing toe exercises, trying to strengthen it, and I do "toe yoga" at home everyday that I don't go to PT. I am also taking Aleve to get rid of some of the pain, but my doctor pulled me from football so I can't really do anything right now physical wise.
