For some reason when my little sister was about 5-6 years old she was obsessed with 'No Rain'- she was way too young to understand it was a more sad/somber song but she just thought it was catchy so she'd get all excited whenever it came on. 5:30 For quite a while, the expression / interjection "Uh, tererê!" (a phonetic approximation of "Whoomp there it is") became very widespread here in Brazil because of this song.
I enjoyed several of these songs in their time but none has ever impacted me as much as blind melon no rain. When that song came out I got the CD and I would blare it as loud as I could first thing in the morning and I would listen to it every single day to help me get into a better mood whatever. Great video. But I have to disagree about Lisa Loeb, even by your revised definition of what a “one hit wonder” is. She had quite a few more hits after that song. And she continues to record to this day. She is a cat-eye-glasses goddess.
I got sick of “baby’s got back” playing on repeat from my neighbor. I took my own copy and dropped our rotary ☎️ on top, cracking it. Upon inspection…it still played but all other tracks were DONE. That’s gotta tell you something…..
I'm a 75 yr old vet I liked the New Radicals I got them on my phone.
DYK: Tag Team was the second rap group to sing Whoop There It Is. The 69 Boys did it first, but it became more main stream by Tag Team.
Fun video. A personal vote, one headlight from the wallflowers.
trouble by shampoo will always be my banger
Letters To Cleo should've got some love on this list
Dangerous Type? I want you to want me?
I still have my original copy of that Republica CD. Still just as awesome now as it was then.
I bet every kid that grew up in the 90's still knows how to do the Macerena 🤣
Every kid knows the macerena. Still a huge staple of school dances to this day.
Actually, no 😄 i was 10 when it became a fad and always refused to do it.
Agree!
It's still around
Not just every kid - most adults too! Anyone who went to clubs or parties in the 90s learned how to do the Macarena. I’m 65 today and can still do it!
I love most of these songs. I love and miss the 90's so much. The 80's were great too.
The 90’s was my childhood at the time
Republica's follow up Drop Dead Gorgeous was in the UK Top 10. Great video, hopefully another Top 20 is soon
October '97. Contiki European Escapade. BE544.
'Ready To Go' was the tour group's theme song. That song brings back five wonderful weeks of memories.
I would've thought that "Walking In Memphis" would've also made this list.
@Jim Atkins Yeah, same here. Could have replaced one of the songs on the list with this. Marc Cohn's version of the song, which is the original, is absolutely awesome, but I also love Cher's version of the song. However, Cher is not a one-hit wonder, so her version wouldn't count.
The verve have loads of hits, the drugs dont work, sonnet, all the lovers, break the night with colour !!
I love the verve. Drugs don't work was their best song IMO.
To this day if I'm having a really crappy day that's usually my go-to.
I remember me and my friends calling No Rain the Bumble Bee song. Some of the songs I didn't recognize the name of the song till I heard the song. Besides the first one on the list (number 20) not a bad list.
We all done hehe, since we didnt knew the name
Counting Blue Cars -Dishwalla
Six Underground - Sneaker Pimps
Banditos - Refreshments
Cumbersome- 7 Mary 3
Bound For The Floor - Local H
If someone would have asked me if I thought "What is Love" would be number one on this list I would have said noooo...YEEESS! Aw man! Gets em every time!
Thumbnail scared the hell out of me 💀
Rip. It reminds me of something out of a horror movie 😂☠️
Tubthumping
Take me back to the 90’s
My mom loved "Ready to Go" I'm actually looking at the CD on the other table.
What's Up became a great song at sporting events. Penalty against the home team at a hockey game...queue it up.
I was a little kid in the 90's some good nostalgic times🎵
Loving the recent focus on the 90s from WatchMojo.
You guys should make a video focusing on 1998. In my opinion, the best year of the decade as far as pop culture goes.
Damn my graduation decade, 1990 😆🤦🏾♂️. Bout to Playlist this🤷🏾♂️😆....seriously 🤫
Great video and I enjoyed it and have a blessed night
I miss the 90s. Was a different feeling back then and just a great time.
