conspicuously absent: Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill Hearings, Janet Reno's Dance Party, Road Trip with Ross Perot and Admiral Stockdale (or any Ross Perot skit for that matter), & Bob Dole on The Real World (RIP Norm). Sinatra Group will always be my #1, mainly because I've been quoting it for 30+ years and don't ever plan on stopping lol
I'm a diehard SNL fan. The number #98 guys gotta go. You completely left out anything Martin Short or Billy Crystal did. You also left Ana Gasteyer as Martha Stewart, Amy Poehler as Kaitlin, Will Ferrell & Molly Shannon in Dog Show, and Fred Armisan & Maya Rudolph doing Prince & Beyonce.
I was thinking this would actually be best for people who are new to English and American culture. The explanation combined with the snippets would help firm up language comprehension in a moderately entertaining way.
I've been an SNL fan for 36 years now, and for me, deciding on favourite skits would be a near impossible task. So many moments you just can't forget. LAY OFF ME, I'M STARVING!!! 😂
Murphy's white guy bit should have been in the top ten. Or twenty if this video had bothered to take all skits into a committee vote. It's mostly just slapped together content that was quickly available to the editor.
He went to the same Catholic elementary school as I and my brothers went to, and my father was a server at his funeral Mass. So sad we lost him so soon.
I am shocked that there wasn't more Belushi - he was sooooo good as William Shatner/Capt. Kirk in the Star Trek's Last Voyage skit and hilarious as the Hulk in The Superhero Party.
Definitely. Also Phil Hartman; Will Forte; Kristen Wigg; Cheri Oteri; Fred Arminsen; David Spade on WU Hollywood Minute; Adam Sandler ; Will Ferrell inside of that leather shoppe with the only thing Fallon was funny in was as Barry Gibb and Andy Samberg too; Ferrell as the film critic who interviewed Skreech from Saved By The Bell played by Elijah Wood is hilarious and sometimes funny was the very last sketch whether it was hit or miss; they usually managed to pull it off.❤ Greetings from Boston Massachusetts Amerikkka quite literally!
The Colon Blow commercial was a parody of the classic Total ads where they'd stack bowls of a "leading brand" breakfast cereal one on top of the other, and it culminated in a *mountain* of cereal bowls.
The Californians and their entire sketches based on f freeway names. And the over the top sketches of the yentes, "oy, I'm so faklempt" And their love for Barbra Streisand with her skin like "buttah.
Needed more belushi. Samari tailor. Little chocolate donuts breakfast cereal. Also missing, the three mile island skit. It's like having a chest x-ray. Over and over and...
Another one they missed was pupper uppers and doggie downers. Also, the takeoff on the geritol commercials. How does she do it? She takes speed. Or. My wife. I love her. I think I'll keep her. Billy crystal: ever get an ice pick in your heed, I hate when that happens.
What's weird about the "Cowbell Sketch", is that it was considered a "throw away" Sketch at the end of the show. I actually remember seeing it in real time and and I had tears in my eyes, it was so damn funny!
Enjoyed most of this. I remember how often we would quote SNL in high school in the 70s! Classic moments. Gilda was a gift. How stoned was Pete during the diner lobster skit?😵💫 Glad Nate Bergatze made the list. Really hoped Jason Momoa would too. His ‘Elf on the shelf’ was hilarious! Smigel’s ‘TV Funhouse’ were always fun. Thx for the walk down memory lane!😁
Nate Bergatze sketch made me laugh so hard. I watched over and over and it remains the funniest sketch on SNL Also Pedro Pascal two sketches have gone back to those 2 a few times.
One of my favorite commercial parodies is the Disfunctional Family Christmas Album. Classic. Also, the best one of the Sinatra Group is when he has Shined O'Connor and called her Cue Ball, I just laugh. There are so many to count.
Man, looking back, I think I really appreciate Eddie Murphy's early work...remember the sketch of Buckwheat's greatest hits? I was probably 7 years old, little white girl, and he made me laugh so hard😂😂😂😂
The Matt Damon/Brett Kavanaugh sketch, David Pumpkins, and Washington's Dream, are iconic. I would include the sketches with: Ben Stiller as Michael Cohen, Chance the Rapper at Halloween, Simu Liu in the Dog Man bit, anything with Matt Schlapp, Adele as the ghost with Chad, the December To Remember Lexus story, Billie Eilish inviting crazy Kate McKinnon for Christmas dinner, and any Mikey Day clip in letters to home.
The North Pole Report with Eddie Murphy is so funny especially when Eddie's character keeps interuppting Mikey's reporter to inform everyone about the bear attacks and then he shows them the severed leg.
I love Chris Farley and will Ferrell. All so funny but John belishi samurai sword definitely deserves a spot. John belushi was a shinning star . Thank you for this post. All so funny !!!
There was not one clip I thought was not top notch. However, I was very surprised how little John Belushi there was. the Samurai character (Samurai barber and others) deserved a mention.
I've been watching WatchMojo for well over a decade and this is by far the longest video of theirs on any of their channels I've ever seen! Honorable Mentions: Andy Kaufman: Mighty Mouse I'm not sure if this would have counted, because it's technically a musical guest, but it was from the very first episode, and there was multiple musical guests. They hadn't figured out a style or format yet. It was basically a random variety show at the time, but it worked for that time. Tina Fey eating a cake One of my favourite Weekend Update moments. I hesitate to call it a skit, because it feels like she was legitimately venting. It was both depressing and hilarious at the same time. Dana Carvey's President Bush impression It famously sounded nothing like the president, but we all knew who it was supposed to be. In fact, when people do an impression of Bush Sr., it's Dana's version they're doing. Pete Davidson's Chad character No matter what scenario they put him in, he's just so nonchalant about it. "Okay" Gilda Radner: The Judy Miller Show She was great in pretty much everything she did, but that character really let her show her high energy and I never fail to laugh no matter how many times I see it. Pretty much any skit starring Leslie Jones or Kate McKinnon.
So glad Bass-O-Matic & James Brown were in this. I would have loved to see Samurai Hotel Clerk, Andy Kaufman, Land Shark and of the other commercials. Would prefer the list be broken down so we could actually see more of the skit and less narration.
I was hoping one of the clips would show "The Barry Gibb Talkshow". Justin Timberlake was in the skit and he was great. They sang "Talkin it up on the Barry Gibb Talk Show...talkin bout politics --- talkin 'bout crazy cool medallions" Jimmy Falon and Justin Timberlake were so funny in that skit. 😅😂😂
Census taker: What is your name? Blarfengarph. Could you spell that? S.M.I.T.H. How is that one not in there? Land Shark. Mister Bill. I'm Gumby, dammit. Cork Soaking. Kate M. as the devil. How are those not in the Top 100. And the Chappelle skit is top 10.
I watched the entire video. Jan Hooks was in one of them. I always found her to be the best and funniest actress on SNL (although there were several others excellent as well). Brenda The Waitress, imo, was the quintessential SNL skit.
I think there are 2 misses in this list. The "Pepper Boy" sketch with Sandler and Dana Carvey. Also, "The Hurlihey Boy" with Farley and Sandler where the house-sitting "requests" get truly bizarre. Otherwise a pretty good list.
Um... Hans and Franz? I thought you were saving them for number one, and now you're telling me they're not even in the top 100? What kind of list is this, anyway? And if you're looking for singular sketches only, there's Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford falling down the stairs (with no stunt double) while decorating the White House Christmas Tree. Sigh. Who in the world makes these lists? Have they even watched SNL?
I will say this controversial topic, the mid to late 90s - the early to mid 2000s cast were the best eras..... I would have included the early cast members like dan, jim, chevy, bill, gilda and jane, And a few other members over the years..... But as whole casts i think those eras and members and sketches are all the all time best
I truly enjoyed this look back. So many really funny things I forgot about. I wish they'd do this again including some that didn't make the cut, including more of the Church Lady.
You can tell how influential Monty Python's Flying Circus was on early SNL. Irwin Mainway was clearly a different take on Whizzo Chocolate Crunchy Frog sketch.
It was. I usually have to skip through there top 100 movie/TV show videos. If I haven't seen an entry. I liked that I could just enjoy this one with no interruptions.
One of the most fantastic elements of the Saturday Night Live experience are all of the incredibly elaborate sets that included noticeably expensive props and lighting used to help create, to help vividly give, the individual sketches their "Life." It's as if the stage has become its own magnificent, beautifully-adorned "character." As well, all that can be said about the rich staging and props can be said about the costumes each character wears. They are lavish, with the clear sense no expenses are spared in trying to create realism to match the subject, theme, purpose of each sketch.
The Kavanaugh Hearing should have been top 25! Def Matt Damon’s best SNL performance. My late father & I would turn this on when we need a good laugh. My dad would 😂cry he’d laugh so hard. Instead of George Clooney he’d try to say he looked like Matt Damon😉SNL is such a wonderful thing families share❤
For the digital shorts, I am more partial to "Jack Sparrow" That just came out of nowhere and Michael Bolton SOLD the joke so much that he would appear alongside the Lonely Island when they did live performances, and he made a ballad piano version that he played on an HBO special he did.
You know what you missed? Jingleheimer Junction. It’s the first sketch I ever saw as a child and I remember it vividly. Also, Colonel Angus should have been top 10 - that is brilliant writing.

I love rewatching the sketches..but the voice overs and explanations overwhelmed the actual product.
You didn't miss much.
They probably can't do that and still monetize the video to make money. They need to change the content with commentary or snl can copyright strike.
every time
Copyright...they can't do it any other way
I was thinking this would actually be best for people who are new to English and American culture.
Honorable mention: the "BUCKWHEAT'S BEEN SHOT!!" sketch!!
That...sketch...KILLED...me! I was in 6th grade and thought it was the funniest thing i ever saw.
Oh, yeah, I forgot about that one! Or how about Eddie impersonating Little Richard Simmons!
How about Gumby?
How about the 'hey, nice penis' sketch. Just some straight nudist guys at the beach shooting the breeze with some small talk.
Murphy's white guy bit should have been in the top ten. Or twenty if this video had bothered to take all skits into a committee vote. It's mostly just slapped together content that was quickly available to the editor.
Matt Foley and the Chippendales audition. I wish Chris Farley was alive to know that a new generation of people love his work.
It turns out, according to a documentary about him, that he didn’t like that skit. He was getting tired of the “Fatty falls down” routines.
He went to the same Catholic elementary school as I and my brothers went to, and my father was a server at his funeral Mass. So sad we lost him so soon.
FUN FACT. Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk wrote the Matt Foley sketch. Also, he did not much care for the Chippendales sketch.
Too bad that his comedy acts was backed by drugs just like John Belushi?
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
There were only 2 I could think of, they were "Land Shark" & Gilda Radner's "Brownie" routine.
you left out Dan Aykroyd as Julia Child?! sacrilege, darling.
Yes. The Dan Aykroyd as Julia Child, cutting her finger was hilarious. LOL
Yeah my favorite was always Eddie Murphy as gumby with the catch phrase "I am gumby dammit
The Close Encounter sketch has me in tears every time I see it. The second one is great, but the first one is just so funny, it's surreal.
I am shocked that there wasn't more Belushi - he was sooooo good as William Shatner/Capt. Kirk in the Star Trek's Last Voyage skit and hilarious as the Hulk in The Superhero Party.
No shit. Tom Hanks made this cut? WTF?
Not to mention Samurai Tailor and the other Samurai skits.
And Beethoven.
Samurai TV Repair. It was hilarious!
This was fun to watch, but....how did "Buckwheat's Been Shot" miss the list? That sketch was EVERYTHING.
I expected Samurai Sushi Chef to be number one. Somehow, it didn't even make the list. John Belushi was one of the best comedians ever to be on SNL.
Not sure how they didn't include it. Everybody loved Samurai Chef back in the day!
Bill Hader is in like half of these. The man is a living legend.
I loved his turns as Vincent Price in the holiday party sketches. Priceless (pun intended!)!!
I was in College in 1975, and saw ALL these amazing SNL shows. Made a great Saturday chillin’ night relaxing at home. 👍🏻
The Roxbury Guys don't include Martin Short 😆! That's Chris Kattan!😂🤣😂🤣
No. She said different characters appeared and he’s inside of the car in one of them. Watch it closely again!
You mean Mango ? Lol
The Colon Blow commercial was a parody of the classic Total ads where they'd stack bowls of a "leading brand" breakfast cereal one on top of the other, and it culminated in a *mountain* of cereal bowls.
How could you possibly leave out "Cork Soaking" with Janet Jackson? CLASSIC and HILARIOUS! 😁
An hour, three minutes and 17 seconds later, no Janet, no "Cork Soaking" tour.........Mojo's done lost their mojo on this one!!
Jon lovitz as the devil in people's court is priceless....and Bill Murray as Hercules is even better
LOVE Jon Lovitz as the Devil- HILARIOUS!
Add "ACTing!"
These skits are better without an overlay of sirens and monologue!
Then look up the sketches. Are u new to watch mojo?
After watching the Top 10 version of this, I knew more cowbell was going to be #1!
The Californians and their entire sketches based on f freeway names. And the over the top sketches of the yentes, "oy, I'm so faklempt" And their love for Barbra Streisand with her skin like "buttah.
This goes way back: I'm Chevy Chase, and you're not.
Here's one you missed, from about 1986: William Shatner at a Star Trek convention telling everyone to "get a life."
He asks the nerd if he has ever kissed a girl and the nerd is destroyed.
Everyone in Hollywood plus any who bow to the overlords of (this site) h8 bill shatner
Yes!!!!!
Remember, she said not including cold Open
That being said, one of the best!!!
Thank you for the list. Church Lady should have been in the top 20 for sure.
Agreed! When it clocked in 85 I was shocked.
Kate McKinnon is comedy gold in the alien encounter ,Ive never laughed so hard 🤣🤣🤣
She broke everyone.
Or Will Ferrell as the angry lawyer, complaining about the guy as a dog who liked to sneak into the yard to take a dump.
That's right, there was not a single Belushi sketch with him as them character. Copyright issues?
Vincent Price’s specials and the ones with Kate McKinnon as the abductee are the best.
No Jon Lovitz liar guy? Billy Crystal as Fernandez? Buckwheat? Target Lady? Deep Thoughts?
They had more newer skits in here than the REAL comedy
No mention of the blues brothers?!?!
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the "no musical acts" disclaimer at the beginning disqualified it.
What's weird about the "Cowbell Sketch", is that it was considered a "throw away" Sketch at the end of the show. I actually remember seeing it in real time and and I had tears in my eyes, it was so damn funny!
Christopher Walker HATES it because everybody he meets says to him : you need MORE COW BELL, I agree he said it is ever SO ANNOYING !
Enjoyed most of this. I remember how often we would quote SNL in high school in the 70s! Classic moments. Gilda was a gift.
How stoned was Pete during the diner lobster skit?😵💫
Glad Nate Bergatze made the list. Really hoped Jason Momoa would too. His ‘Elf on the shelf’ was hilarious!

Thx for the walk down memory lane!😁
I’d only add that Nate Bergatze deserves a push more to the front of the list.
@@Mels925 Agreed👍
I was choppin brocoliaaaa today! choppin broccoliaaaa
@@jeepgirljody Those were some of the best moments! Adam Sandler had several too! Sad, there’s nothing like that now.
Nate Bergatze sketch made me laugh so hard. I watched over and over and it remains the funniest sketch on SNL Also Pedro Pascal two sketches have gone back to those 2 a few times.

They will pump.........you up.

@@CherylSimser 🤣🤣🤣🤣
How funny would a Matt Foley-Debbie Downer crossover have been?
If only we could have that 😭
The Mr. Bill Show!!! Oh nooooo!!! Hilarious!
I don't think Mr. Bill is funny. I used to think it was the funniest thing on earth. Why is it not funny anymore ?
I wore a Mr. Bill pin as a 4 year old. One of the many benefits of having a 24 year old uncle. He also got me into Supertramp!
Crime of the Century...
Would leave parties oe end dates early if they did want to watch Mr Bill. It was mandatory
I mean didnt want to watch mr bill
Anyone else notice how the more recent cast members nearly always break character?
I don't think it really happens more often these days - they've always broken. The top of the list has Jimmy Falon and David Spade breaking
And, by now, Ryan Gosling will be known as SNL's "Most Consistent Breaker"
The Matt Damon/Brett Kavanaugh sketch, David Pumpkins, and Washington's Dream, are iconic.
I would include the sketches with: Ben Stiller as Michael Cohen, Chance the Rapper at Halloween, Simu Liu in the Dog Man bit, anything with Matt Schlapp, Adele as the ghost with Chad,
the December To Remember Lexus story, Billie Eilish inviting crazy Kate McKinnon for Christmas dinner, and any Mikey Day clip in letters to home.
Chance the Rapper had a lot of great sketches - the one that gets me every time is “First Impressions Court”.
Great list! Would have loved to see the Sweeney Sisters as well, and Gemini's Twin.
Garrett Morris as the translator for the hard of hearing.
“Making Copies” probably the most quoted SNL line if you worked in a business office
I don’t know why, but the sketches I laugh at the most are the what up with that? ones
...Well, we're outta time.
@@Dr.Thirteen-bb1ub ooooo weeeee WHATS UP WITH THAT? WHATS UP WITH THAT? OOOOOO WEEEE

It's nice to see Chris Farley all over this list.
David Harbour's "Grouch" parody of "Joker" and how close the rest of the cast Sesame Street impressions are and with Melissa's Latino "Elmo."
There was not one clip I thought was not top notch. However, I was very surprised how little John Belushi there was. the Samurai character (Samurai barber and others) deserved a mention.
Shatner's take down of his own fans at a cheap convention 'Move out of your parent's basement and get a life'.
Some I like are so new with current cast members, Lisa from Temacula. Hilarious
I've been watching WatchMojo for well over a decade and this is by far the longest video of theirs on any of their channels I've ever seen!
Honorable Mentions:
Andy Kaufman: Mighty Mouse
I'm not sure if this would have counted, because it's technically a musical guest, but it was from the very first episode, and there was multiple musical guests. They hadn't figured out a style or format yet. It was basically a random variety show at the time, but it worked for that time.
Tina Fey eating a cake
One of my favourite Weekend Update moments. I hesitate to call it a skit, because it feels like she was legitimately venting. It was both depressing and hilarious at the same time.
Dana Carvey's President Bush impression
It famously sounded nothing like the president, but we all knew who it was supposed to be. In fact, when people do an impression of Bush Sr., it's Dana's version they're doing.
Pete Davidson's Chad character
No matter what scenario they put him in, he's just so nonchalant about it. "Okay"
Gilda Radner: The Judy Miller Show
She was great in pretty much everything she did, but that character really let her show her high energy and I never fail to laugh no matter how many times I see it.
Pretty much any skit starring Leslie Jones or Kate McKinnon.
Norm MacDonald with a Burt Reynolds mustache gets me every time!
Norm MacDonald's Burt Reynolds impression is legendary! It's amazing how he captures the essence of Reynolds with just a mustache.
@@WatchMojo It's all in the 'snark' that Norm backed up that mustache with.
if you put Robert Downey, Jr in a suitcase, I'm sold!
How could anyone possibly choose from this spectacular collection? I love them all!
Land shark should have been on here!
WOW, I forgot about that one! There should really be the top 200 SNL sketches!

Ok but which Snl Bambi live action or 2001
Cant beleve you left out the Robert DeNiro Homeland Security Briefing. Hilarious

Norm McDonald is the best ever!
Yeah, no weekend update from Norm??!!
I watched the entire video. Jan Hooks was in one of them. I always found her to be the best and funniest actress on SNL (although there were several others excellent as well).
Brenda The Waitress, imo, was the quintessential SNL skit.
Love the Coneheads!
If Living in a Van isn't 1....
No Sarah Sherman?!?
Her roasting Colin Jost is the best thing I've seen in 20 years of SNL.
She is amazing!

@19:07 I was on assignment _in_ Boca Raton (dealing with my own shpilkes) when this skit came on--and thought I was going to laugh myself into a coma.
What was the phrase? Schpilkis in the connectigezoids? (sp) loved it. And was Jon Lovit the pathological liar?
The Coneheads!!! Once again, Dan Ackroid

Father Guido Sarducci was better than about 90 of those, esp "Mr Tea"

Beavis and Butthead might have cracked the top 100 since this was made.
You can tell how influential Monty Python's Flying Circus was on early SNL. Irwin Mainway was clearly a different take on Whizzo Chocolate Crunchy Frog sketch.
The Rock's "Pedophile Robot " should have been in the top 10.
The Close Encounter " skits were all great.

Eddie Murphy as Gumby is a laugh riot too. 😂😂😂
