How does anyone not understand the Aqua song/video? It was clearly a social commentary track against the very thing they were parodying. It was meant to be ironic, as most things in the 90s were, especially in music. I will always defend that song to the death. It was a classic and brilliantly made dance track. You rarely get melodies like that which stick around for hours after hearing it.

Black Hole Sun, the song, was a masterpiece in my humble opinion. It’s release was right after Cobain’s death so to me and what I’ve read it was not about Cobain’s death. Cornell had heard a news anchor reporting a story and had mentioned black hole sun and he thought that would make for an interesting song title or lyrics. So he went home and wrote. And here with are. The video is creepy but this song is intoxicating!
“CHRIS CORNELL: I wrote it in my head driving home from Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, a 35-40 minute drive from Seattle. It sparked from something a news anchor said on TV and I heard wrong. I heard ‘blah blah blah black hole sun blah blah blah’. I thought that would make an amazing song title, but what would it sound like? It all came together, pretty much the whole arrangement including the guitar solo that’s played beneath the riff.”

Lord, Vanilla Ice's "I Love You" is absolutely terrible. I can't believe they even released that crap.

Give it Away is an epic music video. Contrary to what Rebecca said, the Chili Peppers' first major hit came 2 years prior with Stevie Wonder's cover of Higher Ground.

Theres something..unique about 90's...and music now just doesnt have the same type of uniqueness. I think the 90's will forever be my childhood. Even though I was born 2001 it really fits

One of my favorite songs in the '90s was Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega 😀

"Blue (Da Ba Dee)" clip by Eiffel 65 actually introduced me to the whole music video popculture in 1999 (I was 13 back then). What did attract me to this clip? All those themes like: space travel, sci-fi, futuristic setting, aliens, blue color, cheesy heroics, a sort of mystery, very catchy tune, videogame-style 3D video, the fact that it was released just shortly before year 2000 that epitomised my imagination of the future... All those themes, elements etc. in just one short 3-4 minute clip! I was simply destined to love it, and their "Europop" album :D And it's still large part of my nostalgia today :)

Same here. They're awesome. I have the Aquarium album on Spotify. It's my favourite pop album ever. Love them or hate them, you can't deny their music is catchy as fuck.

Just a bit about Sound Garden and the song "Black Hole Sun". The inspiration for the song title came from “Black Sun” a 1969 sculpture by Isamu Noguchi located in Seattle.

Groundbreaking video and song! Shannon Hoon was so freaking talented and I’m still sad we didn’t get to enjoy more of him. So many of the greats lost before their prime.
