Technica... they are sick!! This is basically like a front wheel drive EVO couple. Alot of people don't know early (and some later) Hyundai use Mitsubishi engines (including the EVO motor). Also found in the mid to late 90's Eclipse. Ultimate sleeper!!
@@ngrinshift4383 true I sold mine like 2 months ago it has a 2.4 mivec swap out of ralliart 2006 all motor with 225hp and 200 tq to the wheels it was so light that it was like a 300hp car literally I race with mazdaspeed with Honda's k20 and smoke them really easy is a fun car people tend to underestimate that car for that fact that stock are slow
@@cl587 right now I'm working on my next project. An '02 EP3. I am leaving it bone stock outside even keeping the four lug and working on all engine. Dropping an '06 K24A2 from a TSX-S. In order to keep my four lug I'm sticking with my stock five speed. Short shifter w/steel bushings, stock 15" wheels n'all. Just engine (I'm keeping that as stock as possible too) maybe just headers since the TSX exaust headers interfere with the stock swaybar on the EP, but that's it... stock muffler and all. (Maybe a cat delete) Then I'll focus on suspension Front control arm inner (geometery correction) relocation bushings and camber correction balljoints. Inverted tie rod end links and "delrin" steering rack mount bushing to prevent flex when turning under acceleration. Of course a good set of coilovers but I'm aiming to maintain stock ride height (possibly an inch lower MAX) since the McPherson front suspension doesn't respond well to lowering. Typically front springs "should be" stiffer but on the EP2/3 chassis it's actually backwards and the rear springs will be roughly twice as stiff as the front. It won't understeer more than stock. Another SI has a similar set up and it handles 110 percent on the curves. To use the TSX headers I'd have to use the thinner EM1 front sway bar or no sway bar at all and I am after full stock. Strut bar front/rear and chassis bar across the back window that's it. In the far future I'll strip the interior but that's another chapter. There is a way to install factory OEM Brembo option off an RL but you need to use s2000 rotors and I'm keeping the four lug so it's a no go for me. If I buy a second VTEC head (A8 head) I will try to experiment with the "VTEC LOCK" mod cause it has a NATY NATY sound to it. At that point I would get some custom unequal length headers to get the full effect.
@@ngrinshift4383 that's a good project I'm a honda lover the engine is the best you can't go wrong with the k24a2 I use to have a Rsx Types 2005 a Honda civic Si 2010 and last TSX 2006 and TQ in the k24 is definitely a plus

I had one of those in Puerto Rico, I buy it brand new in 2001 was white pearl with sunroof but I decided to give it to my mom she still had the car with 27,000 miles on it the car is like brand new in November is the car Birthday 18 years old
if you ever get the chance to check out Puerto Rico, you will be pleased with our car scene. the Mirage (Technica) has always been around and very popular. i had one myself running high 13sec with no turbo or NOS. there are many that are much much faster here. hope you keep it for a while, it does not disappoint.
Wish I saw this video back in ‘99 when I bought my ‘98 Mirage. I could have done more in my Mirage. It was tough fixing it. They don’t make anything for it really. Good job on not giving up modifying. I still have my Mirage. It will be 20 years old next year! 👊🏽
Got my license today and my dad gave me a talk and now i have the keys from his mirage seeing that car since a baby and now i have the keys for that car now it’s my car? It makes just want to tear up a little bit lol. Keep it up bro here in Puerto Rico you see a lot of them
Very nice and clean build! I have a Mirage MR with the same skirts front side and rear. I re-painted it my self just recently looks great, and have the 1.8L 16v still in it, absolutely love it! happy to find your build it is very nice and awesome engine swap by the way. Time for a turbo...
The mirage is the underdog I use to own a few mirages, the last one I had was a maroon red 5 speed Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5 I blew the motor on it, but now I want to buy another mirage .. I currently own a Miata
Wow im glad to know i am not the only one that enjoys the mirage, since my dad gave me his from 1998 when i got my license. I am from Puerto Rico and I still see this car used a lot, even if it isnt used for tuning and moding, but i know a few guys that modify their mirages
Made props on the car. Saw the video thumbnail and at first thought I really had no interest in seeing a video on a Mirage then had a second thought and said why not. Happy I clicked.
This video hit home. I bought my first car when I was 18. It was. 2000 Mirage, I called it my Mitsubeater haha. 275k miles on the engine, I only payed 500 for it and it ran like a charm. I'll admit I abused the 1.8l engine in it, I ran it like it was supposed to rally haha. But even running a thousand miles with almost no oil and neglecting any tune-up, it still ran beautifully a year later. That was until I let a coworker borrow my car (terrible mistake) and he totalled it at 70 MPH. He was fine, my Mitsubeater wasn't... I bought two cars after that, a 2005 Isuzu ascender with 105k miles ($2000) that developed an engine knock within 3 months, and a 2000 Toyota Corolla with 275k miles ($550) with an engine that locked up in a month. At the beginning of this year, I was searching my third vehicle in 4 months. That's when I saw what had to be fate. Posted in my town that day only an hour before I'd seen it, a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage Coupe LS. 205k miles, manual transmission, and the reliable ol' 1.8l. The kid sold it to me for 600, and when I sat in the driver seat nostalgia brought tears to my eyes. It was indistinguishable from my Mitsubeater. I'll keep my Mirage until I die, I don't care how much I have to put into it. Both Mirages were the best cars I've ever had and can't wait to have the fastest sleeper Mirage in the county 😌

Just got my hands on a 97 ls coupe I can’t wait to play with it
I had a 97 coupe for years till a accident... Miss I every day. The worst part about owning one is when someone calls it a Civic!
Same here I had a ls coupe wrecked it racing this 04 Altima beat it 2 times in a row. It was my first manual
Beautiful car man!!
Such a great underdog even the original 4g15 engine sounds nice too
If you decide to sell it let me know. I sold one fully build with all OEM JDM parts. I am looking for another mirage.
The video is great nice car modifications and I love GSR!
The problem here is the background music!!!!

Cars like these, the late 90s accent hatches, the 80s swifts and champs you can only find them in mass in Puerto Rico, trust me ive looked.
I used to own 2 and I modified both great toy man
Kereta ni kalau masuk malaysia memang aku beli.. Sumbat engine evo 8 ke evo 9 ke memang mantap ni
I'll never be able to move on to Mercedes, Lamborghini etc. Saw too many cars as a kid I wanted to mod and this was one of them.
OH MY GOD..I LOVE HOW PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT PUERTO RICO🇵🇷💞💞💞 WE PUERTORRICANS LOVE THIS CAR
4:21 depends by the previous owner and if you like it (car), and if you want to continue your own path. Btw. sick mirage, want one.
THanks for the info! I'm on the site now :)
Mitsubishi mirage technica is so popular in puerto rico and i have a mirage tech 1997 too and sorry for bad english 😂
Hey I have a Mirage 1.8L, I'm from Puerto Rico, over here are very popular
I love the sound and look of your car. What is the web site you mentioned ?
mirageforum.net
Love it! Amazing channel!
The good part of this is that in a couple of years (maybe), my mirage will be ready and people will ask me: "Is that a 3 door evo?? How did you get it?"
Is it finished yet?
3 years later!
My little island Puerto Rico they are every where. We specially look for the Technica wich is the one with the 1.8 engine on it man almost all of them are mod and there are clubs of them in a bunch of places.
I have one now and it's pretty fun to drive bad ass video
Its cyborg zr face ... Love it!
super clean
In Britain mirage coupes are virtually extinct
I have a 00 mirage de 1.8l I love it but it’s my project currently. It’s problematic but love it. I have had 6 and driven up to 12 cly cars this ones unique
I wonder if people would make a Mitsubishi Evo 8 engine swap to the Mitsubishi Mirage. What a beautiful two door lancer 🚙
I'm 16 and looking into getting a first car. Really thinking about getting knee of these. Something about these little things are intriguing. Hopefully i l
can find one near me
Brady Johnson yeah I got one at the start of the year and they are a good first car it’s also something you will wanna mod
In my country this is the rarest car
THAT WAS AMAZING
Car sitting my friends Mirage for over two years, I might just ask him for the pink slip.
Ill be getting an 01 mirage in a couple of weeks. Its running what the 1st performance up grade you guys reccomend?
Suspension! I’ve got two at the moment and find they handle like boats but get some good springs/ coil overs and the car completely changes
Nice car !!!
What all would 8 need to do this swap in a 97 mirage? Looking for a parts list and what engine harness to run?
Can you please tell me where to get those turn signal lights? Got the same car but the lights are pretty ugly. Thanks!
Had the same car in modesto. It keeps you humble. Its a great daily driver.
Back in 2000 I had a 1992 Nissan 240sx . I got laughed at by all the kids with integras and civics saying what the hell is that . 5 years later they all wanted my car because drifting became cool and they all wanted to get into the drifting scene.
Mitsu mirage is kinda like the cheap walmart cellphones, they are reliable and they do the job
Better than the ones they have now
Car is fresh
Anyone needing parts or help finding parts just let me know over here in Puerto Rico we find them easy. I have one my self and would not let go of it never it's a really reliable car
