- Nostalgia trip. A look at central Bromley and other parts of the borough in 1985. Music video to start, then (at 4.30mins) the local tourist board type film 'Serving The People' a jaunty unique voiced commentator leads you around the area to, at times, comic effect, though I'm not sure it was meant that way. His posh stern vocal is a charm smile emoticon. If you lived in the region back then, it's a nice dip back in time.

I was born in Bromley Hospital and lived in Bromley until my mid 20's. I went to Valley Primary School then Ravensbourne School For Boys. I love these videos, such good memories.

I can image what it’s like, Catford and Lewisham were unfortunately the start of the downward spiral of events. Nobody seems to care or do anything about it. I love looking at a video on TH-cam before and after pictures of Bromley, I couldn’t watch it too long I felt emotional.
I worked in Army & Navy briefly , also Lasky's hi fi shop. I left for Devon 25 years ago. Many nights drinking in The Three Compasis pub.Good to see a thriving high street. I hear it's gone down hill now.
Came to Uk when I was 1 I am 60 now and I’ve lived in Bromley area ever since . This video took me back to the good old days ! Thanks for the upload !

Very nice - this was the time I came to Bromley. Many memories.
A very dingy Orpington precinct can be seen at 2.27 Rumbelows is on the left, I brought a VHS video player there with my very first monthly pay cheque! How things have changed.
Bought a video player! Very posh. I rented one for a tiny amount til I had bought it several times over. Rang them up when I eventually found the paperwork - they asked for a small amount and said keep it. Renting a TV and video was the thing at one time and you got a new TV every year or two.
Why did you add that horrendous noise over the top at the start?

I can my parents used to take me to the Gaumont many times, I still remember the flag waving on top of the building while waiting for the number 94 or 47 bus back home.

I think it works. Sounds like a 1985 TV theme - synthesisers were the thing then.

It's a London Borough. It's in Greater London. The postcode is in Kent but this is a long running argument and nobody's really sure where it is.
