GLASSMILL LANE BROMLEY 2023
Glassmill Pond, Church House Gardens, Bromley, April 2023. A sign at the site said that work is taking place at Glassmill Pond to deliver a restoration project which aims to return the River Ravensbourne to an independent river channel, separate from Glassmill Pond, as it was before the 1950s. It was stagnant there for decades, so this initiative hadn’t come a moment too soon. On that visit the air was fresh and it looks better than it had looked for a long time. #churchhousegardens #bromleytowncentre #bromleyparks #bromley #greaterlondon #london #londonuk

BROMLEY TOWN KENTISH WAY & TWEEDY ROAD 2024
มุมมอง 86หลายเดือนก่อน
🌳Living up to its name. Walking up through Kentish Way into Tweedy Road Bromley, then a cheeky pint in the Railway Tavern. Kentish Way sits very near and fairly parallel to the High Street, Bromley Town Centre. Photos taken in June/July 2024. You can’t help but take in the abundance of greenery. #bromley #bromleytowncentre #bromleynorth #bromleyparks #kentishway #london #greaterlondon #suburbia
Bromley High Street 1986

🛻 Bromley High Street, 1986. Credit: Bromley Studies and Archives. The shops are shut meaning it was probably either a Sunday or in the evening. What layout changes has there been in the intervening years? 🛻 Well at the north end of the High Street, not much, its all very recognisable. The buildings remain, but pavements are now wider and deeper, street lighting has changed. 🛻 Market Square dow...

Bromley High Street South 1986. Notice that Rymans is one of the very few shops still there today since 1986, and in its original position on the Broadway. Gas Showroom where KFC is now, edge of The Mall. Superdrug nearby, it’s now in The Glades, Pizza Hut, British Telecom (notice they had two buildings in the town centre then, and now none), Barclays Bank, Halifax Building Society, Bloomfield ...

London Borough of Bromley 1970s/80s BROMLEY HISTORY
Omg my cut and shut existence and you thought you can mock that you're doing it to my family when you're blocking me from being a normal person and taking the piece over the fuck is these people who come and visited at Nigel's taking a fucking mick out of a serious and dangerous situation
Didnt like the change.. Still don't..
Bromley High Street was a vibrant place to be before pedestrianisation and the Glades. Ii is where the so-called town planners got it very wrong! Doing what they did has completely wrecked Bromley High Street what it once was!
Germ Free Adolescence was a warning for the future. Thank you X Ray Spex.
Loved going into Bromley back in the 70/80s. Great pubs .clubs. Cinemas.Wonderful days gone by
Beautiful
I remember walking down the high street and smelling the coffee from the coffee shop.I remember visiting the new Mc Donald's in market Square.Great memories I moved from there in 1981
Any live versions?
So different now and not for the better. Oh to have lived in old Downham
wow...I can tell by how he is acting David Bowie clapped his cheeks for him and he was over the moon about it
Oh the Memories
Loved Bromley went there alot
Full of scumbags
that was my chill spot for like a year until it got knocked down
Way before the invasion safe days
My dad got petrol at the Chinese garage oh it was so lovely in the fifties ❤
Before the invasion great days
I never lived on the Estate but my primary school and secondary school were there so most of my friends were from Downham Estate and I spent most of my time there in the 1970s. I loved it, it was a brilliant place to hang out. I remember Pat who used to run the boys club in Valeswood rd, he was such a kind man. The only downside was getting beaten up by the Mallory boys who were much tougher than us, eventually I befriended one of their top boys so and from then on my friends and I were left alone.😊
Shame the building is no longer there.
I love Johnny ♥ Paul is so quite through it all!
I was manager of Bromley sports centre in the mall , the owner was Eric Fright , a lovely guy that played football in his time for Bromley Town . I was there in the mid 1970's , but this video is how I remember the town . As a young kid we would all meet in The Swan & Mitre pub at night , probably 8 or 10 of us and all had big ideas of how we was all going to get rich . One night one of the guys told us he had just bought some property , we thought he had managed to buy a house . He had bought 5 or 6 warehouses on the Docks . We asked , what are you going to do with them ? He said I'm going to live in them , we all fell about laughing . At that time you could not give the warehouses away as the docks had closed down . I few years later he was a multi millionaire .
Born in Bromley Hospital in 1951. Raised in Downham. Lived in Oldstead Road. Loved the swings at Forster Park. Was an attendant lady in those days, keeping us safe! Learnt to swim at Downham Baths with Mr Brazier. Well remembered days.
This used to be called Peter Pans Pool in the 1970s and there was an adventure playground there I think, and sometimes a fair ground. The Green Man pub was right opposite on the Bromley Road.
One of them is where I live still
My beloved Bromley, before the 'Croydonisation' happened ...... and the influx of the World's filth!
Great images, shame about the transitions which made it difficult to watch.
I looked like Boo then, although I had dark black glasses on!
Steve dancing at the end 😹😹
Thing is - his words to the girl have extra meaning after what Saville got up to
This is awesome to see this is the year I moved to Bromley thanks
How times have changed; and not for the better
I was a Police Officer stationed in Bromley from 1966 to 1977. Bromley in those days was a lovely market town but once it left Kent and became part of Greater London the decline started and it hasn’t stopped. A once lovely town ruined.
I remember back in the 70's, Keith Chegwin rocking up to Downham Boys Club in a Rolls Royce, wearing a cream flared suit with matching platform shoes, he was there to give out the prizes!
I learnt to swim in Downham Baths.
This brought back many memories. Thank you so much for this.
I’m at this school rn I’m in yr two
I was there, I was 5, we walked all the way down from Anerley Primary school and were given little flags.
The new headteacher is Mr De Freitas, Mrs Margaret retired a few years ago
Nice tune man she sounds gud n i never heard it
£450 for a house is incredible. You can't even get a 10 year old car for that price today.
I was born in Bromley Hospital and lived in Bromley until my mid 20's. I went to Valley Primary School then Ravensbourne School For Boys. I love these videos, such good memories.
Same here both schools. Left Ravensbourne in 83
The area has changed so much. I was born in Bromley Hospital and lived not far from the BP garage. I used to love the pet shop (Downham pet stores I think it was called) and my mum knew the owner of the Cloud 9 record shop.
I had no idea she could sing. This is much better than I thought it would be.
This from the late 1950's not the 60's. I am in the footage! I'm the brown-haired kid with the blond curly-haired boy coming out of the school towards the middle of the film. He is Michael Smalley and I'm David Stitt. The blond kid crossing the road who looks back at the camera is Trevor Smith. Trev and I still see each other regularly at age 74! Seeing this brought back so many memories.
Moved from Camden town downham estate Bromley in 1947 remember it well . Eddie
BROMLEY PUNX! And Downham Skins!Great times!😎
0:10 Look how sweet Sev looked back then ❤
It makes you realise what a lot we have lost since those happy times. A big thank you to British Politicians of the past 50yrs, who have destroyed this country.
Pre internet High St. Lots of shops and not 1 charity shop. Bromley at its best. 👍👍👍👍👍
Surprised she didn't sue McLaren for the sleazy liberties he took.
