My wonderful father moved me and my mother to Welling from South London in 1968, happy memories growing up there. Great video, so many happy times long gone by.
Thank you - that was a wonderful journey. The juxtaposition of the old and modern made it the more illuminating. Must be said that old welling with a sparser population and all those lovely trees seems idyllic, but then you think of the two world wars ....
From welling I moved into flat at plumstead then bought a house in plumstead then bought a house in sidcup and then another in sidcup,so 37 years in sidcup and have now retired and bought detached bungalow at westcliff Ramsgate. And very happy here.
So sad, Welling ruined, like many places over run with people and dodgy councillors and town planners taking back-handers, particularly in the 60s/70s. 😥
Really sad to see how beautiful life was to the ugly architecture of today. Sadly this isn't the England we all once knew a loved. For this reason Im leaving here for good next summer.

Very interesting. 1930's England (although obvious hardships) always seemed so innocent, gentle and tranquil.
Beautiful job putting this together. Thank you.

used to live in Wickham street, '96-13. Wife's a welling girl, Both my Children went to old Fosters
Wow.... RIP Ralph in Cruisin records 2:25. I bought my first ever 12" with my brother from the money my Nanny Ena gave us.RIP
Definitely preferred Welling in the olden days, no cars, no road markings, no road signs, peaceful and with less people.
You had Trolleybuses.
Wow.
Very informative.
If you want to capture and view something then pause video as no shot lasts more than 2 seconds..
Yes, you're going way too fast.
Sorry, I blinked and nearly missed your comment Roger :)
I was a Welling Grenadier in the 1960's!
Excellent compilation Lee.
I see it says " Welling Resident to 1998" does anyone know what happened to Lee , please ?
Very interesting as I lived in welling from 50s to late 70s.
Where did you move to Ron, please ?
Victorian Era 1837-1901.
Edwardian Era 1901-1910.
Last comment by Debbie Wetheridge NOT Matthew Hall.
More peaceful and certainly safer Debbie. I mean Matthew...
Matthew Hall don’t suppose Debbie is related to lee wetheridge? I grew up in welling and knew a wetheridge family at olyffe avenue!

Much prefer the welling I was born into in the 1950's. Far to crowded now.
