Ben, I just wanted to say thank you for putting out such motivating and inspiring videos! Your videos are always cheering me up even through all the struggles I had, especially this year. I found your channel when I was in rehab from my ankle surgery at the end of 2019. I had a complete tear of 2 of my ankle ligaments after twisting my ankle hiking up in Scotland. It went unnoticed for a month until I finally got an MRI after rolling my ankle basically with every step I took, which is why I had surgery to sticht them back up. That meant no running until April. I had many days where I thought I'd never be able to get back on the road. However, seeing you make your fantastic recovery after your surgery gave me the push I needed sometimes to work on getting back to running. I don't think without finding someone as inspiring as you I would have found the passion for running again. Thanks to you, I was able to run a half marathon in August which is something I'd been dreaming off for quite a while. Sadly I had to stop running again in October after developing synovitis in my ankle and tearing the scars from surgery in the fascia. Nobody really knows why that happened and it dragged me down for a while, but again, watching your videos always seems to bring a smile on my face :). I have another MRI due in February after which my doc will hopefully give me the go ahead to start building up to running again, which I can't await... Sorry for the long comment. I've been wanting to share that for some time now... Keep up the good work and all the best from Germany Feli :)
Great effort. Love watching your vlogs Ben. Coming from an entirely cycling background, I started running in early lockdown as my wife had a nasty accident on the bike and I needed to be home more to help her out more. (4hr bike rides just werent going to work) and its been a revelation. She's recovered now but I have just kept running. I first discovered running youtubes when doing research into NY marathon and happened across Seth Demoors channel, both his and your channels have kept me keen. So thanks for your great work
This year I have also been subject to an injury and your videos are one of the reasons I pushed through with physio and I am now running again. Hoping to get back to where I was in 2021. Thanks for all your help and motivation. Good luck next year !
1 day ago I underwent the same surgery you had in your ankle after a terrible injury to my fibula. Have 2 screws in it and let me just say you have given me a reason to smile and fight through my recovery. Your videos are so inspiring, genuine, and helping people lives around the world. Greetings from Boston mate. You are already a champ!
Your journey this year has been really inspiring - truly a testament to courage, strength and resilience in the face of adversity. You are a legend Ben - keep it up with the great content!
Fantastic achievement on your PB Ben. I only started running seriously since June & through a friend found your Strava & TH-cam channel, thank you for giving me that extra motivation & you're running tips. All the very best for 2021 to you both.
Congrats on the PB Ben! I left a comment previously to say I was training for a 5K PB and I’m proud to say I managed to shave over 1.5 mins from my previous! 19:56 was my finish time. Thanks for all your tips and tricks! Look forward to more videos in 2021!
Loved watching this Ben, it's good to see you happy and motivated again, congrats on the PB (what a comeback after what could have been a career ending injury) and thank you for all the tips and advice this year, you really do inspire thousands of us everyday runners to keep getting it done. Happy New year to all at the Parkes Running team.
Great video! I enjoyed your split commentary. Your face really showed the effort you were putting in towards the end. The bike camera was a great idea and provides a professional view, kudos to Sarah. All of the best for 2021 from sunny South Africa.
Thanks James.. originally we put a camera on Sarah's helmet as a back up.. but the footage was pretty good so will do it again for sure. Glad you liked it!
I suffered a metatarsal stress fracture at more or less exactly the same time as you busted your ankle. My recovery as been so difficult. Your videos have been a constant source of inspiration. Thank you both for the brilliant content. I turned 50 this year and i'm feeling confident that i can break the 3 hour mark for the marathon. Thanks again and good luck.
Ben, Sarah, thank you both for being positive influences for me as a runner but also for your infectious positive energy. I started this year weighing over 127KG and lost, by October I had lost over 50KG and clocked my first virtual marathon at 1:33:47, now I’m going for a sub 3 hour first marathon next year. Thank you
Congratulations Ben on the new PB, discovered your and Sarah's Channel recently and I must say seeing you 2 pushing yourself to those remarkable finishes with every race you do motivates me to push myself further! I have been out for 3 weeks due to Peroneal Tendonitis but had my first run yesterday and regardless of my time which was 3.5 k in 18.15 it felt great to run once again. Luckely I was able to do my first half marathon on my own ,which was 2:12:01, before the injury! Keep up the good work and looking forward to the upcoming new videos!
Great inspiration! With this video in mind, I nearly broke my 9 year old 15k-PB today. Missed it by 11 seconds. Greets from Germany and all the best for 2021 to you and Sarah!!!
I signed up to do 25 miles in December for a local charity after starting to run in November. There’s been lots of Jeffing but watching you has been a real help. Not just the tips etc but it’s just your enthusiasm and love of it have pushed me on to complete the 25 miles and I’ll be carrying on and maybe I’ll do 25 (26.2) in a day at some point :) Oh, and I did my last run of the challenge in my new Ben Parkes hat that my lad got me for Christmas :)
Nice run. You are always so happy. Happy end of the year and succesful new year 🙂 Enjoying this channel from the May and love it. 55K of running per week for me last 4 weeks in offseason and try to do SUB 4 hours marathon in 2021. 2019 my first marathon was 4:00:12 sadly.
This year has brought many lows and highs for you but thanks for bringing us along. Sarah and yourself are a great team and thanks for getting it done. Looking foward to many more years!
Awesome, congrats, the hard work paid off! Final three weeks recovering from my injury and this content has got me chomping at the bit. I know the comeback wont be easy (easier than yours though) but the hard IS worth it and I will be better for the injury. Will be using the next three weeks to up my core (thanks to Sarah's video), yoga and elastic band exercises. 2021 is ours for the taking.
Congratulations Ben on a very well earned 10K PB coming back from your injury and all that we have dealt with as a planet with Covid, well done! We do recognize Boxing Day here in Canada, when I was younger all the stores were closed on Boxing Day, not as many closed anymore, but it is still a federal holiday. It starts off "Boxing Week" in the last several years where you can get some great deals on things, especially Christmas decorations, etc to stockpile for the next year! Wishing you, Sarah and Kiki all the very best for the New Year! Cheers from Canada, Scott
Thank you Scott. Always cool to know how different countries celebrate things round the world. Hope you've had a lovely holiday season and here's to even more running (and hopefully our first visit to Canada!) in 2021. Happy New Year!
Great run and great video to watch. You should try reversing your split times (start at 3:21 and go down to 3:12) you would have a stronger final lap. A lot of potential in just doing that. Congrats on the PB!
Congrats, Ben - a huge effort! I had a nasty injury over the summer that completely ruined my running for a few months but, on your recommendation, I saw Scott a few times and got back up and about. All the best in 2021.
Awesome photography as well in this video Ben. Those iconic London sites are always great to see. Here’s to everyone being able to come and visit us again in 2021 when we defeat this virus.
I’ve been subscribed to your channel for over a year now (I think) and you have some great videos, but that was my absolute favourite. Thank you so much for inspiring so many to change their lives for the better. You (and Sarah) are the best! And thanks for the tour of London! Been watching the Crown so it’s a great time to see everything close up! 😁🙏 Oh, and Happy New Year! Here’s to an incredible 2021! 🙏🥂🎉🕺🏽
Congrats!! Such an achievement after what happened in March. It’s so ironic that you’ve got these amazing traffic free spaces to run in central London. Here in rural West Berks, miles from the nearest town, I have to share the muddy lanes with tractors and SUVs. 😃
@@BenParkes cheers I've had a great year running wise getting back into it since lockdown but I've had a setback the past few weeks hopefully I'll recover soon and can run properly again here's to a good 2021 for running

Great video Ben and very well done on the TT. This year has been a hell of a ride but I feel confident you will have some new official PB’s in 2021 with better days ahead 🤞🏻👍🏻
Amazing finish to the year well done ben! Been great to watch your journey back from the injury, you showed all the highs and the lows. Glad to see back getting back to your best 😃
Great video Ben! Love the positivity and emotion towards the end :) ! I finally broke 20 min 5k last month and felt the same, just want to keep going now!
Thanks for all the videos, advice and inspiration throughout this year!
