- Growing guide for the Scindapsus Treubii 'Moonlight' and 'Dark Form'.
I own both the Moonlight and Dark Form varieties and have for two years now. In this video, I share what I've learned and what works well for me.
Scindapsus Treubii is a great plant which is fairly easy going if you're careful with it's watering needs (it doesn't need too much!) It's a slow grower but looks good, even when it's young.
If you still want more, then the full care guide can be found on my blog -

In the video, I mention a water moisture meter. They're pretty generic to be honest, and you should be able to get one from most garden centers pretty cheaply, which is where I found mine. But if you can't find it in real life, here are (affiliate) links to them on Amazon.

We live where it’s cold and my moonlight is still growing with our house at 66 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
i only love the dark, form!
Great information. They are so not liking too much water 😢
I LOVED BOTH!!!
Thank you for all your information. I just got a cutting and didn't know that I had the dark form Scindapsus.🙂
I just wanted to add they can go to downhill due to underwatering too. whenever their leaves slightly wilt and curl, I have to quickly water them . if I wait a day or two and let the leaves completely curl,a leaf in each wine will yellow and drop
Yes definitely, you're right! You can get away with underwatering for a bit, but they can't be neglected forever.
Your plants are beautiful. I have recently got a cutting of each of these. The moonlight is worrying me because it has one, newer leaf that is fine and one older leaf that is curled! What is is trying to tell me?! 😅 I hope i can grow them to look like yours. Nice video. 😊
Feel free to send me a pic on one of my Socials and I can take a look. It might just be a leaf that's reaching the end of its life. If you have new healthy growth then hopefully it's not a problem to worry about. Good luck with the growing. They're super slow but great to look at when you have a few stems growing strongly.
My moonlight didn’t even like being by a grow light. The new leaves kept dying before they would open so I moved it to a spot a few feet away from a west window and it seems to like it better
And it’s a pretty shady spot
That's a shame! Perhaps the grow light intensity was too much. Either way it sounds like you've found the ideal spot for your plant. I hope it continues to grow well for you.
