This is such a fun watch. Thank you for making it, I had a blast learning all these cards stories. Guardian Eatos is my favorite card of all time and it was great seeing her story told.
Sky Striker Ace - Camilla and Sky Striker Ace - Azalea are also rather tragic. Despite their evil and malicious nature, mostly Azalea's, the two were born and bred to be weapons. Ultimately put down by fellow Aces Raye and Roze, who do genuinely feel that their deaths are tragedies simply because they were all born in wartime and had no choice. War is hell, and those two certainly show how hell it can be when Raye ultimately has to put them down to save the people she cares about.
Never loved, always seen as knockoffs of real humans, never really given the chance to understand anything beyond power. I was really hoping they wouldn't get packed up.
The Japanese name for the card 'one or eight' is 'ichi ka bachi ka' (一か八か). While this does literally mean 'one or eight', most people will interpret this as 'All or nothing'. If you look at the effect this makes sense.
I'd argue that if you want to include a death from the DT world, Natalia is a better candidate than Trishula. While yes, Trishula is a horrendous thing to be corrupted for the Terminal World at large, on a story scale Natalia's is bigger. It's the main trigger to the Ice Barriers to finally release Trishula, it's the cataclysm that releases the Lswarm virus into the world and it's what corrupts Noellia, triggering most of the events of Age 2.
@@MarkofWisdom Most of the story are inferred from the card art themselves and speculation. Most confirmed details are given through either VJump pages or the Master Guide books.
That is noelia, in the lore natalia technically die first by the hand of steelswarm hercules but is the infection of the steelswarm who cause a mess inside of the mind of noelia with more catastrophics results like noelia killing amelia for ritual which cause the body and soul of amelia split in two, the body become ghustkraken and her soul in mirrowgeist and the deaths of all lavals, in the end of noelia is even more tragic if you take a count her sacrifices for stop zielgigas after she os free from the evilness of the virus
It’s wild how you can derive stories from card artwork. Your narration and storytelling skills are also impressive. I feel like I’m in a lecture learning Yugioh whether it’s lore or techniques.
Not sure if this counts as tragic but the story of Eldlich the golden Lord is pretty dark as the more Eldlich uses the power of the philosopher's stone he eventually becomes Eldlich the mad golden Lord. Or Alaister the envoker as the more he envokes the more pieces of his soul are lost and is eventually driven mad and becomes more fiendish.
Seeing a lot of zombie monsters I use on this list. The Mayakashi and Golden Land monsters might also be worth a look in the future. The Mayakashi were woodland spirits who became enraged when humans chopped down their forest to build their village, the Mayakashi would take their revenge during the night by attacking the villagers. In response, the Shiranui monsters would step forward to defeat countless Mayakashi during the night with their special techniques, in the end leaving only Yoko and Yuki-Onna as the last standing Mayakashi. The Golden Land monsters were formerly alchemists in the search for the greatest artifact of all alchemy, the philosopher's stone. The had managed to develop a ritual that in theory could create the philosopher's stone, but as seen during the Eldlixer cards, the ritual was flawed. The newly formed philosopher's stone had its power run rampant through the Eldlands, everything the light touched began turning into gold while the people would lose their minds and souls, becoming zombified golden husks, later to be enslaved by Eldlich the Golden Lord into his immortal army once he marched into the Cursed Eldlands and claimed their philosopher stone for himself.
Eeeeh, they expanded upon Trishula's defeat quite a lot. First he evolved into the Zero Dragon form, which is level 11, a level exclusive for the gods of the duel terminal lore Sophia and Tierra. Then it took the Dragunity's strongest knights to fight the other 2 dragons, and Ascalon the combination of all Dragunity dragons to beat Trishula itself. It was quite the badass death and not sad at all.
a series where the main characters have to interact with the monsters themselves (No card limitations) would be awsome. could you imagine the stories that could be told givin the lore of the duel monsters world?
You forgot the very saddest ones imo... go check icejade Curse and Ran Aegirine's art to see how she had to watch her entire family literally crumbling into pieces in front of her.
duel terminal lore is awesome, all the water elements of that lore got tragic stories, ice barriers got wiped out and got forced to unleashed their 3 dragons but the dragons got out of control and try to freeze the world so they got banished, the surviving ice barrier noella collecting the children of the other tribe making a gishki tribe ending up corrupted by evilswarm and ends up sacrificing her adopted daughters only to be stopped by the adopted son and the son managed to safe one of the daughter and those two married (technically not incest) and have a baby and become nekroz tribe, legit duel terminal loves water type because trishula, gishki and nekroz are the strongest that came out of duel terminal with the exception of maybe mist valley apex avian, shaddoll, gem knight and qliphort, because those exception is strong but none of them are as broken as trishula (and brionac), evigishki mind augus and all the nekroz summoning

i always have been loving the storytelling of some cards, even taken by different artists collectively. is amazing and interesting because most of the lore is implicit in the card art, and is often up to viewer to know what is happening.
I recall at one point that Avram's fate was left uncertain following the depiction of a certain card, so I assumed that Avram may have died at the time? Although whether its true that Avram died has yet to be determined, at least for me.
8:32 I am pretty sure it is worse the whole "his family survived, but forgot about him / moved on from him". 13:43 Marron has an alternate route. one where it becomes a demon dog 18:23 YES! it made it into the list 19:35 Probably, what could made this tragic, is the implication that, Buster Dragon's effect still try to benefit Buster Blader (by spreading a dragon virus unto others and turn them into dragons). Which could mean that Whelp went insane, and yet, in its twister mind, still tries to follows its master's commands (which would mean Blader still raised it into a monster) 22:59 Funny enough, Ib's resurrection leads to the, arguably more tragic, deaths of Orcust Galatea (who gave everything, for the sake of Ningirsu), and well, Ningirsu himself . Funny enough, both would be resurrected as guardians of the new world Avram and Ib helped create

@@LittleAl016 in MD solo gate, he did, he sacrificed his existence to save the world. Which makes it even sadder because that would've means nobody remember him, not even Ib. Yet she was entrusted with the world key as his legacy.
@@LittleAl016 Yeah, as Strela already said, Master Duel unfortunately confirms his death.
You could say he ascended to become a force in the world, but he can never be himself again.
I thought Chopman the Desperate Outlaw was the one that caused Blazing Inpachi to be created. Hence the name of the Trap card, Backfire
You know what's sad, the fact that Konami ruined yugioh!
Keep telling yourself that

I like how Zera's most viable form in the TCG was him as a herald of the sanctuary. The card game followed the rule of not seeking too much power.
MY GOD! what a video, Due Logs. I enjoyed it like crazy, HOpefully there will be much more Lore in your channel, thanks a lot!
This is such a fun watch. Thank you for making it, I had a blast learning all these cards stories. Guardian Eatos is my favorite card of all time and it was great seeing her story told.
Buster blader and his pet dragon 😢
Also, I saw the subliminal vin diesel "family" pic at 13:48
I think you may have missed some Marron lore, namely Mad Dog of Darkness and Mecha-dog Marron.
I was really hoping they wouldn't get packed up.
where can i read the lore? I didn't find anything about the lore of those cards
@@el_mr6439Yugioh OCG Stories Manga, the Sky Striker story ended "recently"
@@el_mr6439 The Strikers have a manga. Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories.
It's the main trigger to the Ice Barriers to finally release Trishula, it's the cataclysm that releases the Lswarm virus into the world and it's what corrupts Noellia, triggering most of the events of Age 2.
where do all these stories and lore come from?
This was one of the most fun lists you've done in a while!! I really enjoy these lore-related ones
Please do more videos about cards with lore behind them. I love when they tell stories through the cards and there are so many I don't know about.
I love these kinds of videos, looking at card art and flavor text. Just so cool.
i think that was the best intro to a yu gi oh video ever
13:47 don't think we didn't see that "family" flash over Marron...
Honestly a part ll please great video
Editor sneaking in a picture of family like I wouldn't notice at 13:47
For me, one of the most tragic deaths in YGO lore, especially recently, is Dogmatika Fleurdelis/The Iris Swordsoul.
And life cycle of the Icejades.
She comes back though. Her body gets used in a ritual but due the power of anime love she breaks the mind control and has a powered up body.
Nope
I didn't expect a 23 minute lore dump but hot damn did I enjoy it.
Outstanding Dog Marron’s death is probably one of the saddest deaths since pet deaths are really upsetting
a series where the main characters have to interact with the monsters themselves (No card limitations) would be awsome. could you imagine the stories that could be told givin the lore of the duel monsters world?
You forgot the very saddest ones imo... go check icejade Curse and Ran Aegirine's art to see how she had to watch her entire family literally crumbling into pieces in front of her.
Ash Blossom to Ash Blossom, Harpie's feather dust to Harpie's feather dust 😔
Duston to Duston.
@@enlongjones2394 I was gonna use that one but I thought more people would know HFD 😭
Logs is so dope👏 their content is quite literally just shit you have on in the background and sometimes that’s just all you really need🖤
Watching the Vendread story in master duel was sad even though this probably doesn’t have anything to do with this video.
Not sure if Iris soulsword is dead or not. If yes, I'd say she deserves a spot.
Yes she is, and yes she does :(
I was dreading this list wouldn't feature the goodest boi Buster Whelp. But there he is ❤
Vin diesel really jumbscare me at 13:48
Bro I never thought I would cry about a card's lore, like really, Number 1 and Revendread got me
"Despite our Solemn Wishes, life points drop to zero."
Give the writer a Pulitzer.
Anybody else also catch the "In America!" pun?😂
13:48 marron art turns to vin desile meme "family"
This needs a second part... there's way more tragic stories in the abyss and deul terminal lore. Especially Gem-Knights.
13:47
I saw a flicker in the artwork and already knew what the joke was, had to confirm it tho, and i was right 🤣
Dog marron was based on a real dog in Japan I believe that waited for his owner to come back, but never did. That makes it much sadder. 😢
DAMN there is a lot to see about world chalice
and it doesn't even end there, there is also THE CRUSADIA CARDS
duel terminal lore is awesome, all the water elements of that lore got tragic stories, ice barriers got wiped out and got forced to unleashed their 3 dragons but the dragons got out of control and try to freeze the world so they got banished, the surviving ice barrier noella collecting the children of the other tribe making a gishki tribe ending up corrupted by evilswarm and ends up sacrificing her adopted daughters only to be stopped by the adopted son and the son managed to safe one of the daughter and those two married (technically not incest) and have a baby and become nekroz tribe, legit duel terminal loves water type because trishula, gishki and nekroz are the strongest that came out of duel terminal with the exception of maybe mist valley apex avian, shaddoll, gem knight and qliphort, because those exception is strong but none of them are as broken as trishula (and brionac), evigishki mind augus and all the nekroz summoning
A little cabiat here, she was not stopped by avance, instead for that time for disgrace of avance he was levianima due he try to resurrect emilia from the ritual which turn her in ghustkraken but his efforts backfires and result in avance transform in leavianima, was the brother of constellar pollux which free noelia from the virus but resulting the creation of evilswarm castor, but with noelia free she return to normal avance and resurrect amelia only for her finally dying in a effort for stop once and for all with zialgigas
Marron is my favorite yu-gi-oh card., also loved the "family" pic
Branded in central dogmatika is honestly the number 1 for me. The artwork showing the tragedy is amazing and fleurdelis deserved a better fate man …..
this video is very sad. i cannot watch it. i already started crying a bit when you talked about the felgrand dragon
Dragon Core Hexer deserves a honorable mention too!
Isn’t he still alive though
@@Deathmare235 She is, but read hers and Dragon Horn Hunter's card text.

you should have put ojama blue on this list, not because his death in battle is sad, far from it actually, but he brings out 2 more ojama cards which is infinitely worse
Really love watching some good YGO lore
The World Legacy story is so cool! Reminds me of Xenoblade Chronicles. I'd play an RPG game of that Yugioh Lore Story.
Didn't expect the intro of a top 10 cards in a children's card game video to hit so hard
Might be because I cry easier when I'm sick but buster whelp absolutely got me and I couldn't stop the tears for the rest of the video
This was a very good video I'm going to go cry in a corner now
A new lore related video? Yes please!
i always have been loving the storytelling of some cards, even taken by different artists collectively. is amazing and interesting because most of the lore is implicit in the card art, and is often up to viewer to know what is happening.
13:43 Marron has an alternate route. one where it becomes a demon dog
18:23 YES! it made it into the list
19:35 Probably, what could made this tragic, is the implication that, Buster Dragon's effect still try to benefit Buster Blader (by spreading a dragon virus unto others and turn them into dragons).
Which could mean that Whelp went insane, and yet, in its twister mind, still tries to follows its master's commands (which would mean Blader still raised it into a monster)
22:59 Funny enough, Ib's resurrection leads to the, arguably more tragic, deaths of Orcust Galatea (who gave everything, for the sake of Ningirsu), and well, Ningirsu himself . Funny enough, both would be resurrected as guardians of the new world Avram and Ib helped create
It’s happy to see that Galatea got to live on, as the fairy accompanying Girsu.
Galatea is essentially just an infant when she died lmao
There’s also Mecha-Dog Marron too. But it’s hard to say if that’s a path for the actual dog or just something like a robot made in in his likeness
Worthless world
Now you have to do one for tragic Magic the Gathering deaths.
13:47
Alexa, play 'The Furious 7 soundtrack'
I saw that vin diesel, well played
This is an unexpected and welcome topic to watch through
World legacy and its continuation can become its own movie
I would love to see some of these stories make it into a mini-story anime that delves into the lore of Yu-Gi-Oh cards.
It'd be neat to see a "storyteller" or "lore" format with cards that have expanded lore outside of the card game, giving people themed decks, with them being tales of sorrow, or of stories of glee
no idea how it would work but it'd be neat
No shot you excluded Iris Swordsoul from this list.
the one who sliced Inpachi was Marauder Captain, not Freed
i had no idea yugioh cards had lore like this, that’s soooooo cool
