It's best understood seen than my poor description, but the rapport between those two was so good. Her health started failing her in latter Letterman years, so she wasn't on as often anymore. But man, there's some choice Garr-Letterman stuff in the archives. Just TH-cam "Don Giller!"@@dangerous8333
Teri was always one of my favorite guests and one of the biggest stars of the 80s. She was everywhere...and man did I have a crush on her! I hope she's doing well...I know she's had a real tough go of it with her health over the past decade or so.
This right here is my personal favorite Letterman guest segment, ever. In the "Staff Favorite Moments" series, over and over they make a point to mention Hal's incredibly nimble directing and Paul's great sense of show/timing.... together with Dave's sardonic wit and Teri's winning adorable nature and chemistry, it just all fit together beautifully.
Believe me, nobody cares about whether or not she can tell a joke. She is the most adorable, sexy, real actress you could find. She is a gem and a treasure, and she also get the blood pumping. Just ask the crowd. 🤣😍🥰
They had such great chemistry together! You can actually see the ⚡ sparks ⚡ between them. And like others have said, everytime she was on, it was a gift for all of us ❤️
Teri Garr is and always will be just delightful. I looked forward to Teri Garr on Letterman. The conversation could go anywhere and did and I hung on every word. Thanks
R. I. P. Miss Garr. You personified the girl next door that every guy wanted to bring home to his parents. I had a crush on her as a kid after seeing Mr. MOM( and I was a black kid from inner city Chicago) Such a timeless beauty
I love Teri Garr. I can't believe she is 78 years old now! For me, she will forever be the early-twenties dingbat cutie Roberta Lincoln from "Assignment: Earth". She always makes me smile.
I loved Teri Garr. She was beautiful, witty, funny, talented and classy. I always liked her facial expressions and mostly her smile. She had a great personality and a sense of humor, too. She was a firecracker. That’s why David Letterman liked having her on his show so often. They always had a great comical interaction that was natural. Watching this video was a real treat. That’s how I will remember Teri, as will most others. I think the character Roberta Lincoln portrayed by Teri Garr had a supervisor whose name was Gary Seven in that Star Trek episode, “Assignment: Earth” portrayed by Robert Lansing. Seven was tasked to prevent WW3. He destroys a nuke in the atmosphere before it can do any harm. We could use Gary Seven’s help again right about now. I had an instant crush on Teri from that Star Trek episode going forward. Then again when she was on the TV show McCloud starring Dennis Weaver. And again one more time when she starred with George Burns and John Denver in the movie “Oh, God!” and throughout her career. I told my wife once that she reminded me a little of Teri Garr. She was a fan of hers too. She said it was a nice compliment I said that of her. They both had come in part from Austrian blood, both on their mother’s sides. I also have Austrian blood from my Mom’s side. My Mom liked Teri, as well. Go figure. Ironically, both my wife and Teri passed from complications due to Multiple Sclerosis. My wife passed away 11 years ago and Teri passed two months ago to the day I’m writing this on October 29, 2014. Teri would have been 80 on December 11, 2024. May Teri and my wife RIP.
She was the complete package. I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved her. I had a huge crush on her as a young teenager in the 70s. She was so talented and the greatest Letterman guest ever in the 80s. I believed he really did love her deeply.
Oh, Teri, you are wonderful :). Whenever I heard her name in the opening I was instantly happy . Her final appearance on the Late Show from 2008 is one of the most poignant television segments I have ever seen.
As a child of the 80s I only remember seeing her in Mr. Mom and a thriller/mystery with Paul Newman where she was very reserved and mostly scared the whole time, but I always thought she was super pretty and cute but it's funny seeing her here she is so adorable and bubbly. Her winsome personality really shines through. I'm interested in seeing her in more things now.
@@jimmyguitar2933 Oh great movie, and she looks FINE in that movie too, also very funny but I didn't see that until I was a bit older I think my late teens/early twenties
Something about Teri Garr is just so wholesome and lovely. It's not just that she's beautiful, but she was a great guest because she has such an adorable personality, and a lot less fake-seeming than a lot of guests seem to have (nothing against them, I get it). I don't know, I just really like her. She's got a folksiness that fits so well for Letterman specifically. It's impossible not to fall in love.
Oh, I forgot how lovely, charming, mischievous and playful she was. Self deprecating, but really quite sure of her value. Sweet Teri. RIP. What a great, unique and memorable actress! We get to love you forever.❤ After Hours was a wonderful movie too. She's great in it.
I was born in 71 so I'm 52 and when she was in a lot of movies I was just a little kid but I had the biggest crush on Teri Garr from the time I was 10 or 11 til I was 16-17
After seeing this, I honestly don't know if she's still alive or not. I do know she was forced to retire from acting in 2011 after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Very Charming and Likeable (Teri's not bad either). She lightens up every movie she appears in. I am going to have to watch "Miracles" (mentioned here) again.
Yes, Teri Garr was funny. I felt bad for her. I still remember that show Dave did in the offices back stage and tried to get Ter Garr to take a shower as "treating the guest to luxury". Probably one of the funniest shows, and it wasn't a full scale production.
❤Teri Garr. Every Letterman appearance was a gift.
I hear there’s a full compilation somewhere on the TH-cams.

She made it to 79...pretty good, for having to deal with that awful illness! Clearly, there is no loving God.
It's impossible to not love Teri Garr. Her Letterman appearances are so good
Ms. Garr was the premier guest on Late Night. Her many appearances were appointment television.
Garr is a delight and I find myself returning to this clip every few years to watch her enchant David and Paul.
I love this woman . Funny , quick whited and beautiful with mountains of charisma.
Always loved Tari Garr, I wish her well.
This is like when David convincing her to take a shower 😂 Teri Garr guesting always entertaining 😊
What a sweetheart. It was interesting watching them interact with each other. Thanks Dave!

One of the best things on TV in the 80s was when Terri Garr did Letterman. He really knew how to push her buttons.

I mean... Teri Garr and Charles Grodin were foundational people for me, their playfulness with Dave and the show. Thanks for posting this.
There she is! Tada! Ms. Teri Garr! Hilarious. "You know, Johnny Carson likes me a lot ......but, I like you better." Well, well, well. Adorable.
Take that, Johnny!

Perhaps my favorite recurring guest. Cute, smart, funny, gorgeous, and a BRILLIANT actor.
Terri Garr was and still is a crush from my early adulthood. Just seeing this clip made me reminisce about how lovely she was/is.
