I SAW YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN AT THE USC NORRIS THEATER THE SAME NIGHT IT OPENED IN HOLLYWOOD AND WESTWOOD. I THINK EVERYONE IN THE AUDIANCE WAS UNDER 30 YEARS OLD. THERE WAS NON STOP LAUGHTER FROM START TO FINISH BECAUSE WE ALL GREW UP WATCHING THE FRANKENSTEIN MOVIES. AFTER THE MOVIE WAS OVER, MEL BROOKS CAME OUT TO TALK TO US ABOUT THE MOVIE!!! WHAT A TREAT. MEL SAID VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING IN THE MOVIE WAS IN THE SCRIPT, WITH ONLY A COUPLE OF SCENES AD-LIBBED. IT'S STILL THE FUNNIEST MOVIE I'VE EVERY SEEN.

I love thinking back when I first saw this film in the theater. It was a Saturday matinee and the crowd in the theater was perfect. I sat about two rows away from a guy with the perfect mad scientist laugh. That guy had the whole theater in a uproar with us all consumed with laughter. We all left theater with a broad smile and a sore belly from laughing so hard. Probably one of my best theater experiences ever.

    This movie...this cast...this script...this screenplay...this lighting...this production...this musical score...this acting...?
RIP Peter Boyle, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, and Gene Wilder...you are all in my memories as being part of one of the greatest comedies in the history of cinema. And to you Mel Brooks, at 96 years young? May you live long and enjoy your accomplishments!
Halloween is coming soon and I'll be ready for my tradition of watching the original 'Frankenstein', 'The Bride of Frankenstein', 'The Son of Frankenstein, and finally 'Young Frankenstein' in the coming days ahead.

My buddy's dad was the projectionist, got us in for free, we sat alone in the balcony. I was 16, he was 14. I was already familiar with Mel, Gene, Marty, Peter, Richard Haydn, and Kenny Mars, but they were all new to my buddy, Bob. I even recognized " Putting on the Ritz" from an old Clark Gabel movie from just before WW2. The only principles he knew were Terry and Madeline. A great day I will never forget. This film truly deserves all the recognition and celebration it has received. A rare gem.
