Anyway, she was such a charming, gorgeous woman-a work of Art, really!...Why it was her Fate, to wither away with MS, is making me so angry at whoever/whatever made us so imperfect! Teri's performances in Tootsie and Young Frankenstein in particular are great examples of her talent. She was one of Dave Letterman's most entertaining guests and they clearly liked each other.

NBC-era Letterman was the best. Way more of a cutting-edge vibe at that time...

I had such a crush on Teri Garr back then. She will be missed.
I realize Teri Garr’s an actress and worked in Hollywood, but I'm impressed that she quickly named two films that Lillian Gish starred in - two films that were released over a hundred years ago (around 70 years ago when this aired).
(And yes, I checked that her answers were correct - “Birth of a Nation” in 1915, and “Intolerance” in 1916.)

She reminds me of the character, Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow - actress), from the series, Friends. Her mannerisms, laugh, sense of humor and even her voice are very similar.

Oh *yes*-for sure! I had noticed that, too. Such a striking resemblance-in both appearance and quirky wit…Teri could have passed for Lisa’s “real-life” mom!
While some commenter in here had stated that Teri had already contracted multiple sclerosis at the time she appeared in this Letterman episode, you’d never have known it at the time (not sure if it was even true or not).
I _did_ learn, however, that she was stricken with MS, by middle-age… In fact, her symptoms were visible in those couple of Friends appearances (the camera angles masked her limp, best they could).
