I've had several e-bikes and I was looking for one that was small enough to fit two in the back of our 2017 Chevy Volt. I found one on Amazon, that is currently (May '24) about $500 including shipping,. "Vivi M026TGB 26" Folding Electric Mountain Bike with 500W Motor, 48V". I was skeptical as it sounded too good to be true, but I was surprised how good they are. I like the fact that they are full size 26" with full suspension. They fold up nicely, look pretty sharp, and the battery seems to give a solid 20 miles of range, which is really my limit before my butt gets too sore. :) I was used to paying over $1,000 (closer to $2,000) for our e-bikes and was surprised how OK these were at such a low price.
Nothing else would fit in my cramped Honda Accord Hybrid trunk, so Lectric Lite was the best choice for me (and I wasn't about to pay Brompton prices!).
Very much looking forward to your Brompton ebike review. You might also want to review the Zizzo e-Forte electric bike (under a thousand dollars, came out late 2023). One thing to consider is bike weight handling by shorter or lighter people. I know someone who loved the fit of the Synch 2 so bought it, then discovered that the bike was too heavy to keep upright if it started to tip, so fell multiple times...this person has had both shoulder joints replaced and both spouse and this person have had back surgeries. So they also have trouble getting it into their car. For a lot of folks, ebikes in the under 50# range are much easier to handle, load, pedal unpowered, than those in the 60-80 or higher pound range. edited for typos

Definitely try the Aipas A2 for $699 or less. I have been reading that is a rebadged letric with more features and power. I’m curious to how it does on your next test
Initially, I was super impressed with the A2 and was ready to buy one until I started reading about some very unhappy customers and that was a big red flag. I got the distinct impression the company is having some financial woes and it's showing up in the customer service dept. I hope you're having a good experience though.
I have an Aipas A2 and it was shipped in 4 days. They are overwhelmed with orders and this has caused some frustration with customer service. This is a great bike with lots of features including powerful motor, good range, strong build and great value. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.
I purchased two lectric 3.0 bikes one standard and othe step through in may this year and we have put 220 miles on them with riding on paved road to gravel trails and they handle very well. We have the standard battery which we get like 25 miles per full charge. We definitely want to get the long range battery it gets like 65 miles per charge which would be more than enough for us. The quality is great very well made. Customer service is great too.
Great review. First time I've seen your show, and now I'm subscribed. My wife and I will use some of your reviews to help decide what we will buy. We'd like a bike that we can do some light dirt riding also. Any suggestions for this out of these bike choices?
Honestly, most of these will handle light dirt riding pretty well. As long as the bike has knobby tires and a suspension fork, you should be covered. At least right now, Lectric is including a suspension seatpost on the XP 3.0, so that might be a good choice!
You should definitely take a look at CARBO e-bikes, especially the Model X. Ridiculously lightweight and compact, one of the best foldable e-bikes I've ridden and the after-sale service is very premium and caring
For anyone asking, the stock Model X weighs around 29 lbs and starts at 2,699$, could go up with features, but honestly, with the components, carbon fiber frame, excellent frame, and excellent warranty it makes up for the high-end price tag
Do not understand why the Aipas A2 was not on this list? At $699, looks like it came in from the same assembly line as the Lectric 3.0 except in different colors, has a 750w motor where the 3.0 only has a 500w motor. Only downside is the 3.0 has hydraulic brakes. I am leaning towards the Aipas which seems best purchase for the $.
Thank you for this amazingly thorough review ! I am looking at purchasing a touring foldable ebike on a tight budget and I have a hard time seeing which one would fit ! I want to take them on trains around europe and go bikepacking with them mainly on paved roads. I would need a bike able to hangle the weight a saddle bag for instance. Speed is thus much less important than range. I wonder how feasible it would be to pedal with those bikes without power given their weight. If you have any advice I would love to hear your thoughts !
Lectric XP lite is the lightest folding ebike. It is also the cheapest on this lst starting at 799. I just got one myself. Not sure how adorable it is though.
What about Wildeway fw11 series? 48v/32 ah battery 750 watt 20x3 tires for $900, or the 4.0 with hydraulic brakes, 850w motor and 20x4 tires for just a couple hundred more? Very well built bikes
The Heybike Mars and Aventon Sinch.2 have mechanical disc brakes. Generally speaking, we opted to leave brakes out, as 95% of bikes have effective brakes to start, and those that end up on our Best list are sure to perform well.
Wildeway FW11 3.0 comes with a 48 volt 32 ah battery. 32 ah is incredible. I bet it would crush the range on these. It has plenty of power, decent features, and I got mine for $779. They are lesser known, but I've had 0 issues with mine so far. You can get the 4.0 for more if you want Hydraulic disc brakes. You guys should check them out.
Would love suggestions for a fold-able ebike with a shock absorber or soft rear suspension. I'm wanting to ride relatively flat dirt roads as well as paved bike trails. Soft on the bumps, good stability on unpaved trails. Recommendations are much appreciated.
Unfortunately, we haven't tested any folding bikes with rear suspensions yet, but more and more brands are making them. Hopefully we'll get a chance to try a few in the near future.
Love your thorough reviews. The Heybike Mars 2.0 1000W with hydraulic brakes is brand new and starts shipping 6/18/24. I just ordered one last week. I would love to see this compared with any other bike, folding or not. I haven't seen 1000W bikes under $1500 and am very interested in you and your fan base's opinion.
The 750W version did a solid job, so we expect the 1000W version to be generally faster. We're not sure if Heybike will send us one yet, but we'll see what happens.
I just got my 1000w last week. The power is amazing, I live on a very steep hill about 1mi up and it takes me up easily at 20mph. For $1100, they included the front and rear basket which was very important to me as I want lots of cargo space…the rear basket is so large that I will prob not attach the front basket. Like everyone else, I has been keeping an eye on e-bikes for a few yrs, and am glad that I waited as the Mars2.0 is a great bike for the price..
@@guslevy3506my motor hub bolts loosened up and fell out. The wheel had to be replaced. The threads for the baskets were all cross threaded. The throttle broke on day 3 of riding. Other than that I love the bike.
Very bad experience with my lectric 3.0 first when I got it I had the battery stolen off my porch then the range that I was getting with it was only 10 to 12 miles on PAS one and then it fell out of my semi truck and hit the ground and broke in half Cracked right up the hinge. I bought a used 2.0 and absolutely loved it. Something about the components with the 3.0 just aren’t as good. I now have the rad expand five and it is the best bike by far over lectric. Long-haul trucker and I have to have a bike that folds to keep it in the cab passenger seat of my truck so I can go on rides I get in a good 50 to 75 miles a week.

We reviewed that one! Unfortunately, we had already filmed this video beforehand, so it didn't make the list. It will likely show up the next time we do a Best Folding E-Bikes video.
The Gocycle G4i should be reviewed if the Brompton is. Also, the new Gocycle CXi & CX+ Family Cargo electric bikes, with a total load of 480 pounds, while itself weighs 50.0 pounds. (Gocycle is not for the bargain hunter, but neither is Brompton. Must be a UK thing!)
@@BigB0ss00 My wish list would be a styling update, a more easily removable battery, 8 speed shifter, lighter weight, and, in my dreams, a 750w nominal motor and a torque sensor.
I'm looking to get a foldable e-bike soon. The RadExpand 5+ is at the top of my list. In the video, you guys mention it being $1899, but it's currently selling for $2,099. Do you guys know why it's increased $200 since posting this video?
I want a foldable step through with enough power to pull a trailer for my dogs and be able to climb big hills. Is there something out there for me, preferably with 2 1000watt motors and maybe 2 batteries? I don't need speed, just power by way of torque!
i understand what you say about why not to buy, but you have the batterys in the frame and you have the wider tires. This makes the bike bigger as neccesarily needed. there are bikes out there that have smaller tires, and removable batteries. i think that is a way better option.
Most of us want to pay 500 or less for a leisure ride. You're video targeted a higher level. Make a video for those who are the economy level for leisure like seniors and families. Thanks
You should also look at Dahon. They have two Ebike versions. I have had a couple of their regular folder bikes over the past 20 years. Excellent quality. US company.
Would have been nice if you guys included the Electric XP Trike model. It’s a folding trike made by LECTRIC and really great deal at $1,499. It’s great for those of us, like me, that have limited mobility and prefer the stability and in this case the convenience a folding e-trike offers. Perhaps an E-trike review coming soon?
Hopefully they get out the reverse trike with independent suspension, they don't tip over like a normal trike and much safer and incredibly smooth comfortable ride on the back when going over bumps!
Just curious as to why you guys brake test the bikes using only the rear brake. I have a Portola and with both brakes engaged at the same it stopped basically rigth where i was almost instantly.
Very sad to see so many missing adequate mud guards. Also missing close up´s on the controls/triggers etc. Then their is that question of the rain, just how protected are they?
Is there an ebike out there that folds into a grocery cart of sorts? That would be cool. Something i can fold and then use the wheels to push or pull it
Man that would make sense when needing to walk into a store etc. Like a handle that folds out and the wheels like you mentioned to pull it around, man, good idea.
What about the Hovsco Hovbeta? Its been out over a year and has a torque sensor, 750 watt hub motor, Class 3 speeds and hydraulic brakes! Essentially an Aventon Sinch 2 on steroids! Get on with it now!
@@quantumfx2677 It is still far more powerful than the Sinch 2's 500w motor and packs 85Nm of torque! People reviewing this bike literally almost wheelie off the moment they engage the throttle on this thing!
Your opinion, please. Jasion x-hunter folding e-bike. Would you recommend? Can’t find much info on this brand. Jasion has partnered with heybike company. As I understand it. Thank you
We have not yet tested anything from this brand. It's hard to comment without knowing what brands manufacture the components on the bike (the webpage doesn't share much), but I'd say it depends on what you plan to do with it. At its price, we wouldn't expect the suspension to hold up to long-term application of some of the extreme activities shown in the promotional footage (i.e. jumping). If you're riding primarily on smoother paved surfaces, that might be a different story.
@@ElectricBikeReport out of the box I liked speed, torque, distance, dual suspension, seat and easy to assemble. I am 250 and has no issues. Price tag was nice as well.
I am brand new to e-bikes, so hopefully this question won’t seem too dumb. They talk about how you can remove the battery to prevent theft, for instances such as when you are going into a store. So my question is this: couldn’t the person just steal the bike by simply peddling it?
The list seems very focused on heavy fat tire bikes. For me 50lbs max, closer to 40# better (Tern Vektron, Zizzo e-Forte), and ~ 2" wide tires are the sweet spot to retain the feeling that you are still riding a bike and not a beach cruiser. Once you get over 40# the number of folks that can heave these things into a trunk, RV, boat goes down rapidly.
It's true that most folding e-bikes in the American market tend to be heavy and powerful fat-tire models. Fortunately, their batteries can usually be removed to make them lighter and easier to lift, but most are still cumbersome. Hopefully we'll see more branching out with lighter bikes in the future.
Why arent you talking or reviewing the Juice bikes like the JetCurrent Pro? I love my Juice RipCurrent S bike and the battery is better than any you have reviewed.
@@ElectricBikeReport no, I've been riding a super73, but I've been in the market for more of a work bike, that possibly folds, and that Engwe is definitely at the top of my list. My priority from experience is battery size, followed by dual suspension, with some potential of portability if at all possible lol. There are also a car uple 60 ah folders on the market I'm interested in as well
Most folding bikes operate in a similar fashion, with a collapsing/telescoping stem and a central hinge in the frame. We will likely add folded dimensions to videos like this in the future, but it's safe to assume that all of the bikes on this list fold effectively.
We do that in the individual reviews for each bike. This was intended as a highlight video, but we encourage you to check out the in-depth reviews for the model(s) you like.

Sinch has a free second battery now too
That's a screaming deal then.
I'm looking to get a foldable e-bike soon. The RadExpand 5+ is at the top of my list. In the video, you guys mention it being $1899, but it's currently selling for $2,099. Do you guys know why it's increased $200 since posting this video?
What about the Mod E-bikes? Like the Mod City +3 folding? Thoughts on this?
We have not reviewed the Mod City +3 folding e-bike yet.
Revibike Rebel 2... thoughts??
I hope you review the upgraded Heybike Ranger S with 1000-watt motor and a torque sensor!
Probably the best pound for pound folding e-bike out there!
so letric might be the best ?
I want a foldable step through with enough power to pull a trailer for my dogs and be able to climb big hills. Is there something out there for me, preferably with 2 1000watt motors and maybe 2 batteries? I don't need speed, just power by way of torque!
Have you looked at Wallke bikes ?
i understand what you say about why not to buy, but you have the batterys in the frame and you have the wider tires.
Thanks
A $500 ebike is just going to be crap and quickly wind up in the landfill.
@@percivalgooglyeyes6178. You can get a decent bike for under 700.00 today
Luckeep x1 lite?
The Evelo dash always gets missed. It's more expensive, but with mid drive and a belt, it's higher quality.
I have an Evelo, the carbon belt took it over the other options. No grease, and I hardly ever have to charge it with my “last mile” commute
You should also look at Dahon. They have two Ebike versions. I have had a couple of their regular folder bikes over the past 20 years. Excellent quality. US company.
Could you review QualiSports Volador only 38lbs, I was thinking about getting one because it is so light.
I just bought a Denago fold 1 be picking up this week anyone else have this bike?
Would have been nice if you guys included the Electric XP Trike model. It’s a folding trike made by LECTRIC and really great deal at $1,499. It’s great for those of us, like me, that have limited mobility and prefer the stability and in this case the convenience a folding e-trike offers. Perhaps an E-trike review coming soon?
Hopefully they get out the reverse trike with independent suspension, they don't tip over like a normal trike and much safer and incredibly smooth comfortable ride on the back when going over bumps!
The sinch 2 is a gem
Just curious as to why you guys brake test the bikes using only the rear brake. I have a Portola and with both brakes engaged at the same it stopped basically rigth where i was almost instantly.
We do engage both brakes
Have you looked at Mod Bikes?
I like the idea of a folding ebike, but I am not interested in the fat tire category. I would like to have one that is small and light as possible.
Very sad to see so many missing adequate mud guards. Also missing close up´s on the controls/triggers etc. Then their is that question of the rain,
just how protected are they?
Nearly all e-bikes these days are fine in typical rain conditions. As for the others, sorry! Only so much footage we can squeeze in 😅
Is there an ebike out there that folds into a grocery cart of sorts? That would be cool. Something i can fold and then use the wheels to push or pull it
Man that would make sense when needing to walk into a store etc. Like a handle that folds out and the wheels like you mentioned to pull it around, man, good idea.
The Tern vektron has this feature. Brompton does as well with the back rack with wheels..
What about the Hovsco Hovbeta?
Its been out over a year and has a torque sensor, 750 watt hub motor, Class 3 speeds and hydraulic brakes!
Essentially an Aventon Sinch 2 on steroids!
Get on with it now!
750w Hub isn't much in power!
@@quantumfx2677 It is still far more powerful than the Sinch 2's 500w motor and packs 85Nm of torque!
People reviewing this bike literally almost wheelie off the moment they engage the throttle on this thing!
What about the EUYBIKE K6 PRO??
Haven't tested that one yet.
Guy, please check out the Envo Flex Overland!
We need a dual suspension folding e-bike review like the Engwe Engine Pro 2.0
@@ElectricBikeReport
Thank you for taking the time and responding. I appreciate it.
You had one small mistake on the Sinch. It can be unlocked in the Aventon app to 25mph. Not quite 28, but better than 20.
You missed GoCycle. Great light weight folding e-bike
We have them included on our written best page. It's an AWESOME bike for sure!
Jasion X-Hunter is an amazing beast for an e-bike.
We'll have to test it out and see how it does! What do you like about it?
@@ElectricBikeReport out of the box I liked speed, torque, distance, dual suspension, seat and easy to assemble. I am 250 and has no issues. Price tag was nice as well.
Would love to see hovsco's folding ebike's review and test
I am brand new to e-bikes, so hopefully this question won’t seem too dumb. They talk about how you can remove the battery to prevent theft, for instances such as when you are going into a store. So my question is this: couldn’t the person just steal the bike by simply peddling it?
In most cases, yes, so it's a good idea to also use one or more locks.
No Carbo x?
Engwe x26 or ne of the engwe x series, or ne engwe at all.. all around best bikes I've used
That's some serious Engwe love!
Why arent you talking or reviewing the Juice bikes like the JetCurrent Pro? I love my Juice RipCurrent S bike and the battery is better than any you have reviewed.
So why are they 1000 for Black Friday ? Plz help
The price? Part of their deals going on.
Aside from the Brompton, all those bikes are H E A V Y AF! What is the point of a folder if they are 55-80 freaking pounds?
engwe has recently reeased the engine pro mk2 and it has a torque sensor and the potential to run dual batteries
That sounds promising! Are you riding and Engwe now?
@@ElectricBikeReport no, I've been riding a super73, but I've been in the market for more of a work bike, that possibly folds, and that Engwe is definitely at the top of my list. My priority from experience is battery size, followed by dual suspension, with some potential of portability if at all possible lol. There are also a car uple 60 ah folders on the market I'm interested in as well
Surprised you don't have wallke H9 on here
Who won?
All 8 of them
How can you review folding bikes and not discuss folding??
Most folding bikes operate in a similar fashion, with a collapsing/telescoping stem and a central hinge in the frame. We will likely add folded dimensions to videos like this in the future, but it's safe to assume that all of the bikes on this list fold effectively.
Euy F6-b is best ebike under 900 bucks 48volt 20ah 70 mile range 32 mph top speed

Over 2 minutes to get to the point. The Rad Expand is $2,099.
none of the links are working (Firefox)
Am I missing you didn’t show how any of them fold?
We do that in the individual reviews for each bike. This was intended as a highlight video, but we encourage you to check out the in-depth reviews for the model(s) you like.
