Bestop Sunrider Install & Review On Our Jeep Gladiator

- Its time to install and review the Bestop Sunrider for hardtops! These have been a very hot item this summer, so i decided to try it out on our new Jeep Gladiator.
The Sunrider replaces the Freedom panels on the Jeep, and is easily folded back instead of removing and storing our old panels. The sunrider can be fully removed in minutes to offer the full top-off experience.
Bestop makes this top for the JK Wrangler, the JL Wrangler and Gladiator.
Install is a breeze, and is even easier with two people, you could say "its more than a two hand-job.. lol.
Overall, it gives the jeep a new feel, almost like having a full soft top while still retaining all the comfort features of a hardtop!
This is a fun, easy, and daily driver friendly mod that i know a lot of people would enjoy. I also know that it is expensive, and might not be for everyone. I hope you enjoyed the video, please give the video a thumbs up and stay tuned for more!!!

We installed a SunRider on our JK two years ago. One of our favorite mods. So easy to open if we want some sun, and still provides the security of the hardtop. Love it.

I have this on my jk and I honestly love it ! It’s so convenient and I get a lot of compliments on it... looks good with the silver too ! 👌🏻
Looks great on the Jt. I've had one on my jl for 8 months and use it often, even in the winter if temps get over 50. There's only one issue, the hinge points tend to get a little stiff. A little silicone lube takes care of that easily enough. Thanks for the great video.

Just installed one on my jk this past Wednesday and so far I'm loving it...
It matches the tonneau cover, so it looks fine. I have one on mine, too, which also has the color-matched top. The price has gone way up on these, just like anything else. Mine is the twill, and it is really nice. It's very durable, too. I've had mine for several years on my JL and kept it on through the winter. I just moved it to my JT. I also just added the retractable sun shade. That makes it REALLY nice!

Love mine! The only downfall I have found is when the sun is beating down I tend to burn my forehead. And yours looks great and it matches all the black on your Jeep!

@5:28 that is the question I've been having that had me wondering how hard it was to remove. I love taking the full top off, just didn't want a huge hassle to remove the "sun-top" every time when I want to go full topless! thank you!

Great video! The Sunrider for Hardtop on my JKU is one of the best upgrades I've purchased so far... I use it all the time here in Seattle. It was great to see the install on the Gladiator and how the design has changed. The clips by the visor are MUCH better! I have to move the sun visors on both driver/passenger before I can undo the clips and push back. Definitely dont want to do that much while driving but in your case its even quicker! Completely Agree Twill all the way! It looks great with your bed cover too. *Cheers!
I think it looks sweet!!!👍. I usually keep my soft top on my 2 door JK down all the way with the doors off all summer and put a tarp over it when it rains. The rest of the year when the doors are on with the top and windows I always use this feature because I don’t have a hard top. It looks great on your Gladiator and is awesome to use this feature so great install!

I finally bought one of these for my Gladiator from a local guy on Facebook Marketplace. It was still brand new in the box and he sold it to me for $500, versus the $950 from Bestop. I can't wait to get it installed!
Nice video. Looks like a quality product...and definitely adds to the overall functionality of the Gladiator. Also, it was nice to see Cassie back in GREAT form!! YES, we girls LOVE Jeeps too!! haha lol!!
I actually considered this for my JKU but I got my hands on a full soft top for a ton cheaper than the Sunrider. But the black Sunrider looks fine on your rig. My bet is by next season you'll be running a full soft top! Oh, please keep us all updated on if you get any leaks and if so conditions like being parked on a hill, etc.
P.S. If y'all find yourselves in East Tennessee, holla... I'd love to see this up close!

Just installed my Bestop Sunrider and I love the convenience and look! The concept is fantastic up until yesterday when the rains came! Oh my God! It leaks like a sieve! I'm an engineer and a life long custom mechanic and have built many vehicles so to install this simple top wasn't even challenging and I felt that my first impression of the top was top notch! Super tight, and fit and finish seemed spot on. Now I'm one of the jku's that doesn't leak. The seals and weather proofing was installed perfectly so to get one drop was disappointing let alone water steadily leaking in...

Its is April 21, 2021, 9:00 pm in the Silcon Valley, Ca. My Black Diamond top came arrived this morning. After I was done in the office around 7 pm, I decided to give it a whirl to install the top on my own in the office parking lot.
I struggled and it was just me going at it.
I tried following this video. I rewatched it roughly 5 times so I could understand the installation completely before opening the box. I downloaded the instruction and read it completely several times before taking the tools out. Once I felt confident that I understood every step, I dove in....
The first problem that I ran into after installing the 2 door rails, was that it was impossible to insert the Z Clips into the proper holes because they don't allow enough slack of the cable wire that they are attached to. I pulled the clip as much as I could before the underside of the Black Diamond material started to tear and this was with the top folded up. I tried it again but I had to disassemble the rails and take everything to the ground and opened up the top completely to see if that would give me more play with the wire but nothing, that was even worse. Still on the ground, I folded the top back up and with the rails in hand was finally able to get the clips inserted..MF!
Now this is where a second person would have come in handy to lift the top with the rails together on top of the Gladiator but I was able to do it on my own. Once I had it up on top, I was able to move things around to get everything lined up properly before trying to attach the rails again. Once i had at least the longer M8x80s screwed in, I thought inserting the (2) M8x20s was going to be a breeze but the Deck Assembly bracket would not sit properly on to the rails no matter how hard I tried adjusting everything together, the Deck wouldn't sit flat on the rails (you have to try it to know exactly what I'm trying to describe). So, I remembered the instructions saying to assemble everything first (inserting the Z Clips and screwing in the rails and the deck together FIRST before attempting to assemble it on the roof. So I loosened up the rail and took it off the Jeep Sport bar but being very careful not to cause the Z Clip to come out of the rail (the instructions say to use tape to hold it in place....wise words, but I didn't do it). With the rail loosened off of the Sport bar I was able to hold the rail flat on to the flat surface of the Deck Assembly bracket, inserted the screws and tightened them up enough to now allow me to reattach the rails back on the Sport bar. I tightened all 4 of the screws enough to where I knew they were going in straight and I felt that it was going to work so I assembled the other side right away so I wouldn't forget the procedures. Once I got that side taken care of I went back to the other side and tightened the 4 screw up all the way and did the same for the other side. The rest is history...

I love your videos and the information they contain, I have the Bestop NX PRO on my 2008 JK 2 door and love it. I just wish that I had seen the video yesterday (today is the 30th) we would have joined you in Uwharrie. I got caught out in the rain. We didn’t have time to pull over I just cracked the back windows and shut my top at 60.

If the top is closed and not latched it will blow open, not that it happened to me. ;-) I use it every chance I get, I also installed the sunscreen they offer which is retractable. We LOVE IT!

You could paint the back part of the hard top with plasti-dip, and if you don't like it, the plasti-dip peels right off. The color mismatch isn't bad in my opinion. The JT is looking good by the way.

love mine, a little louder than the freedon panles but not much, only thing is, it doesnt fold back as flat as my 2 Door soft top and you have this little parachute sticking up on the hiway, would I recomend it ?.... Hell yes, no panels to fuss with on a trip taking up luggae space in the back

Installed a Sunrider on my JK. Love it, but it has changed the wind pattern in the cab. I too have a color matched top and though I would hate it, but it has really grown on me. Lookin forward to more mods on the money pit.
How much louder is it with the new top?
@@jms415 Not much, it was a few dBs. I traded the JK for a JT, and the JT one is noisier than the JK one was.

I wanna get this in the spring but I'm not sure it will sit right opened with my Mopar Roof rack bars. It might prevent it from totaly retracting back 100%. Has anyone done this?

Gladiator should have the sky one touch option like the JL. Wife talked me into it on our 2020 rubicon and man we love it.
