- Any Problems with the Jeep Gladiator Sunrider Soft Top? I've had the Sunrider soft top on my Gladiator for about six months and it's been thru heavy rain and steady showers. Here are the problems I've had (if any) and how it's doing for me. What do you think?

Great review and channel. I just had my sunrider installed and absolutely love it but it is noisier than the soft top on my wrangler. I don’t mind but I didn’t think it was going to be. I got the twill also and looks amazing and No leaks 😊 Thx Rob for all your great reviews!
Hmm…I’m surprised to hear that. Mine is quieter than the Freedom panels.

This was a great suggestion and mod for my Gladiator. I haven’t had any leak problems but do get sun burns. Now I need a sun shade. It is great while the sun is setting to sit back and watch with the top back.

I just installed the mopar version of it, so I hope I like it.
Just got and put on today. I’m pretty sure I got the seal right in the back corners but guess i’ll find out next rain. Another install video said there will be a noticeable gap and I don’t have that. Took for a spin with the kiddo and she liked it both open and closed. Hoping it lasts for quite some time! I liked this quick review video especially from someone who has had it on for a bit.
That’s great! I just transferred it to my “new” Gladdy. Should last just as long as the soft tops that come from the factory 👍
Heat seems to accumulate near the top, you will need to open your windows as soon as you enter and start your vehicle. The breeze will clear away the heat near your head. ( it’s true heat rises to the top)
This mod is for someone who wants a soft top option. Not my cup of tea, but it is the best one i have seen so far.

Just got my Bestop Softrider in the Twill configuration yesterday & installed it. It would be easier with two people mostly just to set it all in place on top of the Jeep but it's doable with one. IMO the included instructions are not very good. I used your video to help me with the install. They say it takes 30 minutes, maybe it's just me but it took me much longer. The Z clips are difficult to get installed I ended up taking my long bolt back out so that I could move the side bar around and then I got it installed, I hope. After install It was taking me two hands to open it. what I was doing was trying to use the center handle area on the top which was why it was more difficult instead of just reaching the latch bar area right above the drivers seat where I was sitting, kind of a duh moment. I did use some light oil around the hinges to loosen them up a bit which has helped. WD40 would probably be better but I was out, I had to be careful by adding little amounts and not too much so it wouldn't drip or get on the twill. I think this is going to be a real good Mod, My Jeep Gladiator is black so it looks real classy with the black twill. Your top looked good as well on both the Mojave and now your sport.

I had a Jeep Wrangler with a soft top here in Va....our cold weather...snow and ice...took a toll on it. I'm sticking with the Freedom Panels up here. Would love the convenience but concerned about the long term duration.
Might be a bit different than a full soft top given it’s just over the front cab. However, I understand your concern👍
I have it, up here in New England and I plan on switching back to my freedom panels during the winter months to extend the life of the sunrider.
How is the heat in the summer with the sunrider closed?
I have this top on my JL and love it. Mine cost just over $830. I installed with a friend's help holding it up to help it get seated. Easy. My question is, have you ever found anything that gives instructions on removal? I saw a quick bit at the end of a video that said you don't have to remove the frame, just the shade and then the Freedom Panels will go back on. But no instructions. The only reason I thought about putting the panels back on was because we get snow sometimes and I didn't see anything that stated how the twill top holds up. Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

I've read that you can't use the standard bolt-on Mopar grab handles with the Sunrider and that you'll need to purchase old school handles with velcro grips which have to be placed more forward towards the windshield.

@@robmotiveplus I've installed four grab handles on my JLUS and they use the T25 torque bolts on top of the roll bars. It looks like the Sunrider's top mounting brackets on each side may cover up those bolts. Just wondering... Thanks!
I live in the North East and it's getting cold. I want to take the Sunrider off and put the panels back on for the winter. LOTS of install videos. How do you take it off?
Just the four side bolts and the plastic rear bracket.

I have one and plan on doing the same here in New England. The install was fairly easy and I imagine it will be much easier now that it's all assembled to take it off. It's like 6 bolts I think.
but did you have the sound dampeners on your freedom tops. I do in my LE and i don't get much outside noise, no more than any other truck i've ridden in.

Will over tightening the bolts result in the sunrider feeling harder to close and open? I don’t have a torx wrench and I am afraid it’s too tight, but not sure if there is a “break in period”. I just don’t want it too lose and cause an issue at high speeds on the freeway. Thank you

I believe it controls a little light in the interior door handle grab spot.
Very dim light in foot well. Pretty worthless. Can only see it at night in dark, needs to be higher lumen
@@gregmyers1864 thank you! I had to wait until dark to see it and know where to look helped, I also noticed it controls the backlighting for door handles aswell.
How well does your antenna work? I have changed mine to a small Ronin bullet shaped antenna and does not seem to work well.
Nope...those tiny antennas do not work well. Mine is just fine. No issues👍

I have one & I got a leak once When I took it to the car wash. I guess it was too much pressure & the water came in through the side. Have you had that issue ? or try it out? now I am concern if I installed wrong /:
I had a leak during heavy rain with it parked backwards on a slope. Haven’t had any rain since installing it on this truck🤔
@@robmotiveplus I haven't had any leaks like that but it has the same design flaw that you pointed out in another video with your wife's Wrangler where the water troughs along the side run into the cab if you open the door trying to get out while it's raining.
Can you take the rear off with this still on? A lot of times I will remove the rear and put the freedom panels back on.

You would have to remove the Sunrider to put the hard panels on.

No. Meaning you don’t physically open it with the vehicle moving at those speeds.
