They took away create a play in madden because players were exploiting the broken AI. You see “top” Madden players using exploit audibles instead of actual football strategy today.
I can't believe how good this game still looks... It's amazing. It's hard to even imagine what they would've done with current gen consoles and technology
2K5 definitely requires a lot of you in terms of a learning curve, but I never minded that, because the learning curve was always football-based. Meaning, you get better at the game by making better *football decisions*, as opposed to having to exploit or circumvent some shortcoming or quirk in the gameplay. The result of that is that you become more immersed in the experience, as opposed to going on autopilot and checking out. And that's a really rare thing in football sims.
This game is amazing and it still holds up. It’s a reason it’s the greatest football game ever and any madden doesn’t come close to it. Madden still hadn’t cracked the trajectory of throwing the ball deep and with lob passes here it took more skill but the game is top notch

If you listen closely, the reasons why crop up. The game play is good, but overrated. He doesn't play franchise, which is trash. The playbooks are a joke if you know real football and schemes/concepts. I loved 2k5, but it has not aged well.
APF 2K8 is much better in my opinion. It has improvements with proper QB mechanics. Both games are Hall of fame legendary games. You won’t go wrong with either. I only play APF 2K8 since that’s what I prefer. I use an editor from King Javo. Look him up. Enjoy!

You should do a franchise i know you don't care for franchise mode but believe you fall hard for the franchise mode really able to build up your team see your players development is truly awesome

@@gomodedaniel some people do this some do also not do this but in franchise mode you can edit your rookies before draft them there names height and weight and abilities I do it myself that's why I never need my first round pick for my first round pick I can get three picks which later can be two starter and depth player or one starter and two depth players it's up to you but for sure practice before really getting into the game back to the draft of the rookies I use to edit the rookies where they would come out 99 overall that was me playing the game in the beginning
@@gomodedaniel as I got older I start to appreciate the game more and more for what it really worth now when I do franchise mode I edit my rookies only to come out 70 to 75 overall no more then that I watch DYN-CHISE rebuild once and he had amazing draft class without edit rookies to where his first four picks overall was 85,83,81,80 the rest was like 75 thur 67 over he had just one of the best draft class every getting a LT, 85, G 83, FB 80 and the tight end 81 overall just super great
All pro 2k8 and its awesome. They madr a great football game without the license. Its so much fun playimg with the legends and building a team ti see how dominant you can be

You weren’t going to run 75 yards with your Quarterback either. If 2K were to make an NFL game today it would look just like NBA 2K 24. Nothing but FURY!
Madden can never touch this game and that is why they took the rights to make NFL games. But they never succeeded at improving the game on the Next-Gen Consoles. This game on the PS2 beats them all because there are no cheap animations about anything other than football. This game is a well-oiled machine and Madden 24 is a machine that presents itself well but fails to deliver what's under the hood. They act like "we have the exclusive rights and we can do whatever we want".
I can't even put into words how much Better this game is then madden 17 thru 24. The only 2 maddens on ps4 that might be better or equal is madden 15 and madden anniversary

When it comes to madden, I've been playing since 95 or so. The best ever maddens were 05 and 08, and then the 10 to 12 era was pretty decent too. But nothing touches Espn 2k5. Easily the best football game of all time and it's still so good after all these years. That's because they set out to make as realistic a game as possible. So even today, it feels like real football. It's a masterpiece of sports game design. That franchise mode is still the best in any football game. I just tried out madden 23 a few weeks ago. Got it on gamepass, don't worry. Wow, what trash that game is. Everything is broken. The qb's arm doesn't even follow the right angle and then the ball will just shift over to the right angle on it's own like it's a magnet or something. Running game? LOL! It's awful. Even Madden 99 is better than this trash game. Thankfully I have 2k5 on my pc, so I guess i'lll load up a new franchise to get my football gaming fix and I also have All Pro 2k8 on my old ps3. good enough until an actual good football game comes out.
Interceptions was perfect you had to play to get it and there is a http for catch and a button for swat.! This game is too much better than madden, madden is trash compared to 2k

2k5 is really good, but also overrated. Masterpiece? Nah. There are so many flaws, and people just make the excuse for being from 2004, when the things it does poorly (Franchise), Madden was already doing a lot better. That's the thing. 2k5 has great presentation, great animations, good game play, bad playbooks, and a trash franchise mode. Madden 2005, to compare one-for-one, has great playbooks, more responsive control, great playbooks, and a detailed franchise mode. If we could have taken the great parts of both games, it would have been amazing.

Bought this game brand new in 04. Always come back to revisit it. Madden just couldn’t compete.

The Xbox version was way better too… the NFL2k5 resurrect project uses the PS2 version and it’s amazing.

You really have to play ALL PRO Football 2k8.The gameplay of that game is a dream. The run blocking is emasculate. The pocket passing feels authentic.

NFL 2K was way better than Madden at its time going against them. EA was pissed 2K made more money than them at a $20.00 price for NFL 2K5.
