- The Pickalotta is a unique and artistic off-grid cabin with solar power, a green roof, incinerator toilet, outdoor shower, well water, and propane heat. It's a 2-storey structure that measures 15'x15' and it's perched on top of reclaimed telephone poles. Approx. 30% of the materials in the build are reclaimed, and the majority of the furniture, dishes, and other items are unique vintage finds.

Joel and Stephanie have been living off-grid in their own self-built home for 14 years and they've created a beautiful and inspiring tiny home on their land to share the lifestyle with visitors! Right down to being able to raid their garden while you're there ;)

Ive been watching this channel for a few years and never thought Id see a project i played a very tiny part in ( helping with the green roof soil moving), To bad its not looking better in this, but im sure itll be flourishing in the years to come. Wow, what a funky, beautiful home!
you might want to check for any leaks in the hose for the water pump. my 12 volt water pump made that same noise until I discovered a small leak where the hose connected to the filter. Once it was fixed it stopped making that noise.

Love the fact they keep the died tree to make sculpture, the driftwood lamps upstairs. Not too sure about the hamac in the bedroom floor. Kitchen counter is gorgeous. I would really like to see a little sofa in front of the wood stove. Kitchen seems pretty nude with just that tiny table.

Finally someone that ureses an incinerator toilet. Love it. Where I live they won't let you have a composting toilet or an incinerator toilet even if you life outside the city limits, crazy.
Accumulator tank should smooth out the water pump noise.

A zero waste tip is to use newspaper instead of a plastic bag for the bin in your bedroom :)
@@KayRay1966 you can use any paper, but it’s easier to Google newspaper to see how to fold it. I use old scripts and bills or magazines I get in the mail (without subscribing to them)

I love this especially the kitchen. That tile work is beautiful. The bedroom looks so calm with its simple furniture and accessories. I am so Happy to hear that they have an incinerator toilet. This would be the only way that I could do off grid living. I think the composting toilet would be a deal breaker. And not having city water.

This is adorable and cozy, but there’s no comfortable seating? They really need at least a loveseat in the main living area, the only place to sit is a small dining chair. Odd.

It was amazing inside with the beautiful touches added to the kitchen, nice cosy fire place, lots of storage areas and a spacious bedroom. I would have definitely needed a comfy couch and not exactly a fan of showering outside. Looked a bit drab from the exterior and felt It needed some colour to match the brightness of the inside.

I love so many features of this little cottage including all the upcycled content (key sustainable living strategy) and the green roof! Was curious to hear of the use of spray foam for insulation....wondering about off-gassing and if there's a concern about this from a chemical perspective?
