I've been loving the idea of a house boat or house on water, but could you maybe do an episode on the potential risk of extreme weather's effect on house boats? Like if I'm buying one now is extreme weather and the rising sea level going to be a problem down the line? Great video as always.
A google search for marinas in Toronto will give you a good idea of costs. Usually, costs are per foot or slip size, whichever is more. I lived on a small sailboat for 12 years.
You know the old saying…if you have to ask you can’t afford it. I’m guessing it’s astronomical. I couldn’t afford it. Love my doublewide trailer on 10 acres in the high desert. 😂❤

I was thinking the same thing. My condo apartment, in Mississauga (abuts Toronto) is smaller than this houseboat. As you say, everything is relative. This home is lovely.
Her space feels very pristine, but not in a bleak, colorless way. Her house boat feels very open, but very warm and inviting. I love the color palette of her house!
This was such a beautiful home and to have it on water is the icing on the cake. She has such an elegant way of decorating, and being able to kayak so conveniently adds to the beauty. Call me impressed!
We have been there and the neighbours are close but they are respectful to give space and privacy. We were looking to live there but nothing was available when we looked. We found all the owners are friendly and kind that they allowed us to walk through. I wish we had better luck to have a home there.

Lived on a Sundance housebarge (42 x 16, 2 br 1 ba) in NY for 8 years, until our firstborn was 3 and we had another one on the way. Loved the community and the fun of telling people about it. Do not miss the ramp from the parking lot down to the docks, particularly in the winter while pregnant. This is beautiful!
We lived in a very similar houseboat in Sausalito. It's so funny, Kate's even in a different country, different climate & everything she said is exactly the same as our experience. Ours was 450 sf (very similar design!). Thank you for showing the world so well what it's like! Beautiful video and boat!

Even though her house is dwarfed by her neighbors, it has SO much charm and creativity....and how much space does one person really need? Plus she has THREE patios/decks to choose from, how cool is that? Not a lifestyle for everyone, but it looks so inviting and beautiful, no matter what the season. The biggest problem might be those nighttime bathroom breaks! LOL Beautiful home!

That deck is absolutely amazing. Almost in the trees with lots of plants, the cat loves it as well. I have a garden with a tiny house in it and I would like to have a roof terrace on it but I still have to save some money for that project 😉 It looks very cosy with the outdoor patio set.

Beautiful little houseboat. I could 100% do this if it was on a lake with no one else around. I could never have any kind of house in that close proximity to other houses. I like people, I just don’t want to live with them. I’ve lived at least 60 of my nearly 80 years on acreage in the country or in the mountains. But that is an absolute darling of a houseboat, and your taste is impeccable.

What a magnificent home and life experience. I love smaller living...especially the innovation of space. We have lived in less than 1000ft for 40y. We expanded outword with additional 300ft patio, raised beds gardens, wildlife and tucked away seating. Everyone tried to encourage us into getting a bigger house. But, everyone comes to our cozy house for events.haha Thanks for sharing.
I didn't know this was in Toronto. I got excited and started googling and gosh, these houseboats range from $550 000 to over 1 million, some older ones that havent been renovated might start a little lower but most were in the $800k range. This is pretty much the price of a studio condo in Toronto

Wish I can be there. What a beautiful set up. I lived near the water and the love of the St-Laurent river and it is tattooed in my heart. She is very well equipped, with laundry, a nice bathroom. Love the mix of white and wood. What a beautiful bookshelf. My major concern is winter with extreme temperature. We go through? It so clear that climate has made a turnaround! I love it! Would have to have dark curtains, (have light sensitivity). Being on a boat wouldn’t bother me being that close to other boat homes. It just seems different than being that close in a house. 🤷♀️

Kate you have a lovely home. It is so tastefully decorated and at one with nature. I love water and you have got the best of both worlds being near to a city and nature.
Wish I can be there. What a beautiful set up. I lived near the water and the love of the St-Laurent river and it is tattooed in my heart. She is very well equipped, with laundry, a nice bathroom. Love the mix of white and wood. What a beautiful bookshelf. My major concern is winter with extreme temperature. We go through? It so clear that climate has made a turnaround!

I love it! Would have to have dark curtains, (have light sensitivity). Being on a boat wouldn’t bother me being that close to other boat homes. It just seems different than being that close in a house. 🤷♀️
Thank you, I was enthralled at both the houseboat, the outlook on living that life, but the reality of it all. I wish I was younger, I wish my adventurous side was more in tune, but thank you for letting me enjoy/imagine what life could be like.
