It’s pretty sad that some dealers are forgetting this. I’m a master tech for BMW…going on 16 years now. We use “shipping spacers” that look like hockey pucks that go around the strut tube, under the dust boot. They also come cranked up to 50-60psi…all for shipping purposes when transported by boat. Although, we’ve had a few cars come in with 30k miles and they still had the shipping spacers installed.
It makes sense why they do it. Congrats on 16 years 👏🏼 we need more techs like you showing the ways. There is a huge difference from being able to turn hours, to actually turning hours while "paying attention". A lot of the new techs need to learn to walk before they can run
when i bought my car they took it for like a good 30mins for inspection i think all they did was check oil cause they even spilled some on the cover and they tired to wipe it off and you can just see oil over the top valve cover. then they didn't even take out the hockey pucks in the struts, and the tire was still at 50psi, and under the door they have the rubber grommets to stop the water from coming out those need to be removed also so that water don't build up in the doors that wasn't removed. and the best is a service manager can't even answer my question about the rear view mirror they are installing until 3 days later after it was installed. how does one get even hired as service manager and don't even know anything about the products they are selling or installing ??? and your also going need a alignment soft tires my toe was off.
Yeah that sucks, when I worked in a dealership. It seemed like the technicians were always missing items on a pdi and from what I saw. I had them realign my car when I picked it up because I had different tires installed
whats funny is there is a sticker on the top left corner of the car that tells you that you need to remove the hockey pucks yet they removed the sticker and didn't even look at the picture or read it. how can you trust them to work on your car when they can't even do a simple thing. @@teejaylc
Yep, they got me too. I looked today and there they are. Just bought mine 2 weeks ago. 700miles so far😒 Already had problems with the dealership taking the protective wrap off and not cleaning it properly so there were little lines of adhesive on the car making it look like it had a bunch of scratches on the roof and hood. I’m pretty disappointed that the Toyota dealership didn’t give this car the care it deserved. My next question is, will they do anything about the scratches on my suspension? Thanks for the heads up!
It's crazy that they consistently don't pay attention. Mine had adhesive marks all over the hood and roof too. Take some bug and tar removal to it, it will come right off. As for the scratches on the springs. My dealership said they would paint the springs and I said no. Knowing them, they would get overspray all over the car and I would have another problem lol. I put lowering springs on mine so that fixed my issue
@@teejaylc my thoughts exactly! I will say as a die hard VW GTI guy for 25+years I was really surprised they didn’t pay close attention like VW normally does. I honestly thought there was something wrong with my car. Then again I also realized my tire pressure was at 50 psi a week ago too. So maybe not so surprised. Anyway, good luck with your endeavors and keep up the informative content.
Thanked for telling us about this. I’m in a 23’ model, and didn’t even know this existed. Can you give us an update as to how the driving felt after removing these?
The ride was stiff.. but after removing these it really felt so much more progressive and comfortable allowing me to really experience the front end and how it was intended
@@teejaylc I just went out to check. I didn’t have a jack, but I turned the wheels, and I didn’t see any plastic on mine. I had one previous driver before I got mine so it must have been removed. Do you know how much a coil over install might cost?
Hey I'm curious, did you get yours through a Toyota dealer? If so we're they able to custom order it or was it just an allocation for a waiting list or something? I live in NC and my toyota dealer I'm going through told me that they can actually custom order a car. It's just a deposit with an allocation so I'm guaranteed a car but they won't know when It will arrive? Anyone else experience this?.
Yuup, picked up my 24 Circuit in November, drove from AZ home to WA, then only found they left the spacers in lol. Its absolutely ridiculous but man there was 0 body roll changing lanes lol
same they put 50 psi on mine too lol, and I drove like 80 miles home and I was still driving around with 50 psi, until I saw the app said 50 psi. SHM lol
I just picked up my premium grc. I'll be checkin this out later today. Luckily I only have put 140 miles on it and no snow in FL so shouldnt be too bad if it is still there.
Now I see this. 🤦🏽♂️ I have to check once I get out of work. Road I live on is a mess due to the gas company replacing everything under the asphalt and I feel every bump on the road. This might be why. I wonder if the dealer can change the springs since it was their fault that they get scratched for not taking this part off.
Checked and all clear. I did notice white paint smudges on the springs. I’m assuming they scratched the paint off when pulling them out and used white correction paint to cover the scratches

I got it from a dealership. It was never claimed, ended up looking online and found it. Unless your looking for something specific, I would just look around. There are tons of them for sale and ppl are starting to sell the circuit editions for the same price as a new premium with just a thousand miles so don't forget to look at those too. Good luck 👍🏼
You don't have to jack it up to check, only to get them out because you need to release tension. To check you may just need a light to shine since it's black but plenty of room to see if it's there while on the ground 👍🏼

This has been a known issue since the 23 models. Crazy to see dealers still haven't learned.
It may take them a while..
Thank you for the video! Mine had this issue when I picked it up from the dealer.
Hey! No problem 👍🏼
THANK YOU. I forgot about this and am picking up my GR tomorrow at the Dealer. Added to my notes...
Thanks again : )
Just use the phone light and shine it in there. You'll be able to see them real easy 👌🏼👍🏼
And Congrats on the purchase 👏🏼
Reminds me of the dodge yellow bumper things, lol they’re for shipping but some dealer left them on and now it’s a fad
🤣
Getting 24 circuit edition soon, going to check this. Thank you
No problem. Welcome to the family! The CE is sick 🔥
Just checked my GR. I've got about 750 miles so far, just checked, and it's still there.
Dang!! Take those puppies out!!! Way smoother ride! Lol
Thanks for this! Picked mine up a week ago and mine were left there too! Crazy!
No problem! Glad it helped out 👍🏼

Always good to check ✔️

How’d I know this is what you’d talk about lmao. Mine were still there too. Had mine for a year now
Yeah dude 😆 they need to really start checking so us goons don't drive around with stiff suspension 🙄
Just got my GR today I will check with it tomorrow.

Another item you should add to check list is alignment FYI mine and about 100% of all users have bad from and rear toe settings.
I had the alignment redone when I got new tires 👍🏼
Nice. A fellow PA resident here. My premium is due to arrive at the end of the month.
What springs are you gonna go with? I’m going to go with swift.
Ay! Nice congrats! I'm most likely doing the eibach sportlines

Also, remember to also check your tires PSI 🙂 mine were at 50 and on forums some others have had that oversight as well
I did have different tires put on before I left but I will check. Thanks

Mine were 50psi too. If they’re not going to do it then should at the least let know so we can do it ourselves.
Ive been look at GTI and GRC but i prefer a heavy clutch pedal and low bite point, how are the bite points on each of these cars?
I would say the GRC is heavier and has a lower bite point but the bite point isn't that much lower

Keep those rubber...probably worth a lot in the future 😅
Gona sell em on ebay

This was a common issue with VW's years ago going back to MKV.
Really? I didn't know that. I didn't even know manufacturers shipped cars with those to begin with
@@teejaylc It's for transport.
Little late in the game We all know this old news

Thank you for your post
Thanks for listening!
Dealership Technicians get paid per job, so sometimes they skip stuff and claim they completed it
This is true
Happened to us 2 weeks ago. Dangerous and stupid. There’s a big sticker on the windshield telling them what to do during PDS.
That's what I'm saying!
No wonder my GR felt so stiff I'm gonna check mine I grantee they didnt take it off
It has been pretty common for techs to forget. Were they there?
Found these on my car today
We're you able to get them out?
that moment you broke 7k and then find this video -_-
Did you just find a set on yours ??!
@@teejaylc just got back from getting them removed a few minutes ago luckily no wear on the coils
Subscribe so you dont miss out again! Glad you got it taken care of 👍🏼@@hotjonmw90
@@teejaylc apparently this also happened with the new type R civics and the FL5s also
@@hotjonmw90I thought we were the only ones lol. It's just most techs that speed through pdi's
Can you tell only by jacking it up? Or can you shine a light and stick your hand in there when the car in on the ground

It's a shame
Lowering springs.. 😂
