The relay is there for the purpose of doing everything possible to give each horn as close to 100% of the requested power for full volume. The shorter the run from power to the device the less voltage drop occurs. Also, the large gauge wiring, the less resistance to conducting electricity, which means less voltage drop. Without using the relay, you're splitting the available power (10amp in the GR Corolla) in half per horn. If both horns are 5amp draw, then there is no issue. If the horns are 6amp draw, you'll pop your fuse, as that would be 12amps being pulled across a 10amp fuse. Aside from that, due to the cable run - horn switch, to the fuse, to the horn - you're losing electricity the entire way through, which means your horns are not getting the full amount of amps needed to work at full volume. Relays of that nature that I've seen tend to be rated for 30amps. Being that the battery lead (power) is behind the left headlight, the power run from power, to the relay, then to the horn is incredibly short. You can go a bit overboard with 10gauge wire and you've just set yourself up with a situation where you can put in a louder horn (draws more amps) without having to go back and redo wiring.
FYI: The red horns are "Supertone" and the yellow horns are "Sharptone". They make different sounds so before you go buying one over the other, do your research. I personally prefer the yellow horns since they have a deeper tone. Happy modding.
Currently as of right now. There doesn't seem to be any viable rust showing on the horns just by looking through the bumper. I'm about to install something that requires me to take off the bumper. So I'll inspect further once the parts arrive.
If anything, this video makes this look HARDER than it actually is. Take a few minutes before getting started to make the wires up, then it can be broken down into getting access, removing the old one, adding one new one, adding a second, test, replace parts. I did it in 30 minutes complete with starting dinner half way through while I remade one wire to use a larger end to suit the m12 bolt.
That doesn't mean they are ok back order. It's not shipped by Amazon anymore. Their Amazon stock probably ran out after this video. So now the company has to ship it themselves and they probably just put a long wait time just in case. I have ordered stuff off Amazon that said they wouldn't be here for a 3 weeks but showed up in a week.
@@miket.8412 and I’ve had Amazon products that were supposed to arrive in two weeks that never arrived. I’d rather find a different supplier than have someone who puts my order in the back because they can’t fulfill it at the moment
First, I did this mod. No it wasn't $4 for me. The original horn on the GR was crap, my Scion xD was better. I bought everything you listed, worked great. It's Hella (🤣) loud. But I will say this, use the old self threading bolt from the original horn and the original bracket from the stock horn. Most pleased. Awesome safety upgrade for $25 (for me, and I had a gift card.)

Do you have a parts number for the toyota wiring? The amazon link you added isn't for toyota.
amzn.to/41l1atI This should be it. I fixed the link as well.
@@antdo I appreciate it!
the red horn match with the color theme very well!
💯
Sorry. Seems like my mic was going in and out. Time for a new one. 😅
Thanks for the video I did mine. I use two bolts and nuts and used the holes that they had that were already there .got them centered. Pretty cool.
I'm glad the video helped.
How did you get it center? you drill?
@@davn7723 there’s a hole right next to the factory one but no drilling. You’ll be able to see it when you get in there.
Thanks for posting this, installation was a breeze because of it! That oem horn is simply a safety issue. Now it sounds like a truck horn haha
Thank you brother, very informative i was able to finnally get my horn working you the man thanks for the easy explanation! You earned a sub
Thanks! I'm glad the video was helpful!
This is mod is 100% needed on all Corollas !
I agree 💯
Great install! That harness made it 100% easier!!
Thank you! 🙏

I'm glad the video was helpful 👍
We remember you doing the Mazda install in our garage
🤍
Thanks for this video! I'm doing this asap

Great Video! Thanks for sharing

Great video. Very well detailed
Much appreciated!
No problem. Keep the videos coming.
Hey Tony,
How are these horns going one year later? Any rust?

Are we just going to ignore that fact he is doing a mod all Subaru owners do in a Subaru Jacket lol.
😅😅
You forgot the vape!
I like good the red looks
Thanks
What gage wire did you use for the ground?
Great install video.
Thanks
Seems really easy to install thanks
No problem 👍
There is another horn behind driver side head light ...
I know you didn't want to drill into a new car. But man that horn not being symmetrical really bothers me lol.
I'd rather it be off then start drilling into a car with less than 1000 miles
The DC Univers is the Best!
You're misspelled Universe
Did you sand down the paint for the ground on the second horn?
No i didn't have to do that.
Any reason why you have to ground it ? And not just connect like factory harness ?
I mean I won't lie to you. I'm just going off the instructions. I don't Know the the factory harness Will ground this horn or not.
If you get the splitter you won't have to ground them.
the horns are 37$ for the pair today, but i think its a kit though.. with all the parts needed to install
Any other harnesses you can recommend? The one in your list is on short term backorder.
Did they message you about it being on back order? The site still shows it as in stock?
@@antdo No, but its not shipping for at least 4 weeks.

It's $12. If it's not here in a week just cancel it
So we are doing Subaru mods on this car now?
Yup!
You just buy Hella Tone horns for all your cars don't you lol.
😅
Damn I need to do this mod, wish the video was more clear lol
Unplug your old horn. Plug in your new one. Doesn't get much more clearer than that lol
Where is the Link 😂😮
It's in the description
😑
Today price of the horn is over $30.🤣
Definitely get parking sensors😂
You don't own a Subaru. Why would you do this mod?
Because I want to
where does it say they are Subaru parts lol
Cause stock horn is weak AF. People don't even notice it.
evo's did it first
No bro all black was better
Just leave the car alone

Why the original bolt and bracket?
Because it fits perfectly into the support.
