  • No one Understands Zoro. Roronoa Zoro is one of the main characters in One Piece, but also one of the most commonly misunderstood. Zoro is more than just a fighter, and more than just a swordsman. Zoro is gradually descending deeper and deeper into stoicism and despair. His power comes from a place of fear as a result of his numerous losses, rather than bravado or self confidence. He will undoubtedly be the strongest swordsman to ever do it, but he needs to overcome these hurdles first. Obviously title and video inspiration ‪@NuxTaku‬

I'm a zoro fan, but he as a role model is really dangerous, life is much more than a single objective, a single goal, Zoro's view is romanticized in One Piece, but is a really contrived view to be taken as a model of anything.
I love and respect the character, I can't agree with his worldview.

@@DarkChaos1986 Zoro as a character embodies the achieving the goal and being the most loyal in the most pristine way than any other from the 2000+ animes I've watched,1500+ manga I've read In my 15 years of otaku life
The thing is his worldview is not singular in any way
      In fact it's the opposite
He views the world for what It is but as being a pirate he cannot associate with things which might become a problem to his crew or anyone he cares about
Luffy can do it as he is the captain of the crew and he has every right to tell what his crew should do but he doesn't since that's how he chose to have his pirate,as a family
He lets them do whatever they want but they don't due to the respect to their Captains
It's actually a brilliant writing which has been consistent for 20 years

"Humans are Fragile". This one Line given to Zoro Is almost never talked about when it comes to Zoro's philosophy. This notion of Humans being fragile plays a Big Role in Zoro's development and Mindset. "Even the strongest in the World are Fragile because He/she is Human" (Kuina's death). This gives Zoro the sense of confidence that Being The World Strongest isn't Unreachable or unattainable. But it all changes when He meets Mihawk. That defeat gives Zoro the Idea that Hawkeyes Simply isn't "Human" and to defeat him, Zoro himself cannot Simply be Human either. "Even if these wounds can kill a Most people, I Will not die, I simply cannot be Normal". The Idea of the strongest has now changed from "The strongest is reachable because They are humans" to. "The strongest is unreachable if you are Simply Human". Every Loss reminds Zoro that he is Far too Human to become the strongest. So he Trains and Fights to overcome that Flaw. Great Video Btw I'm glad some people understand Zoro's character

I can find that line literally anywhere anytime in most idiotic comics too. There is literally nothing more to it then humans are weak and thats all. Zoro is boring , hes just op which is fine because hes set of skills are good help for the team. But one piece favors backgrounds and stories over powers so thats why hes not so loved by many . Luffy is op and has well written personality thats why hes the lead but in terms of power i dont think hes much stronger than zoro.

@@jezuzgurl3934 but zoro being an outwardly boring character is exactly what hes supposed to be. He’s meant to be the stoic and manly character for the sake of the crew. nobody on the crew has his serious attitude 24/7, which is why he’s often seen as the captain instead of luffy. he doesnt have a tragic past because he doesnt need one. he lost a friend/rival when he was young and carries her dream with him. after he lost to mihawk, he vows to never lose again and proceeds to do so. he carries everything on his shoulders every battle and continues moving forward.

    @user-zi6gc3yr4n 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Disclaimer: I've only recently started OP, but I'm aware of everything that was discussed in this video prior to watching.
While I agree with a lot of your points, I don't think that he's at all not confident in himself. In fact, I think the opposite in that he exudes a large amount of confidence.
Something I'd like to point out is that there's a very fine line between arrogance and being confident in one's abilities. Zoro not only shows a fuck ton of confidence, but he never becomes arrogant. He never assumes that anyone that he fights is free, and it's even more true for the people he knows are absolutely stronger than him in every capacity, specifically Mihawk post-baratie. Zoro fully acknowledges their strength and even states on Mihawk's island that he's not dumb enough to even think about defeating him. Zoro emits so much confidence Mihawk even goes out of his way to tell him that he's an "overconfident youth" while he's trying to make it back to Luffy in his fucked up state.
And I don't think him losing is at all bad for him, as a matter of fact its something that drives him because not once has he lost sight of his goal. In his eyes, protecting his captain's dreams and making them a reality is his path to attaining his own dream. He holds himself to the highest of standards, second only to the standards he holds Luffy to. In my own little head canon, I see his sacrifices are his own trials by fire. He constantly says that if he were to die there then that's all that he was made of, and not in a way that says that it's okay to die. He says it as a means to say that he himself is better than this. He constantly pushes himself to be better not because he's not confident, but it's because he has to in order to get to his goal. He has absolute confidence that he will push through his trials, not only for his captain, but for himself to progress as a swordsman.
Another thing I would like to say about just how absolutely confident Zoro is was during the transition to Enies Lobby from Water 7. While they were on Rocketman on their way to rescue Robin, Luffy goes up ahead because he sees a stray car from the sea train that had Robin on it. Luffy comes back and tells Zoro "Cut it. It's in the way.". To which Zoro responds with a very casual, unbelievably nonchalant "Sure.".
Zoro has absolutely no doubt in his ability and knows what he's capable of. He exudes an amount of confident that's borderline arrogance, knowing that the possibility of defeat is there but never accepting defeat. In my eyes, Zoro never truly loses even when he's supposed to because he always gets something out of it that just pushes him beyond where he used to be and puts him even closer to his goal. His captain's dreams are more important than his because he absolutely cannot be the world's strongest swordsman if he can't even make his captain become the Pirate King. That's his trial because the King of the Pirates would want nothing less than the world's strongest swordsman, at his side.

This is great but when it comes to zoro he isn’t fearing that he is too weak to beat his next opponent just like Luffy after he lost ace, zoro starts to realize that he needs to become stronger in able to stay alive and defeat his opponent. In fights throughout the story he always has confidence, he just loses it by the end of the fights sometimes because he gets overwhelmed by his opponents like mihawk and Kuma. But overall Zoro is just a characters who doesn’t accept failure and can’t live with himself if he fails

Just noticing that Zoro uses a tiny sword to fight the samurais in Wano, just as Mihawk used one to fight him. Short note. Zoro is absolutely an inspiration to me; the samurai in my name pays homage to him and many others of the similar conviction, such as Samurai Jack. I find that I lead my life unintentionally with similar code, and I adore the concept of a lone samurai wandering the world, and yet not all those who wander are lost. So is my artist journey. That past for Zoro is anime-only which we now have confirmed through SBS. Zoro was a native of Shimotuki village and a descendant of its founders. So this idea of him going from village to village challenging dojos until he arrived at Shinotsuki isn’t canon. But, he was still an orphan and he still could not defeat Kuina despite being able to defeat most adults when he was eight. So that aspect is still canon to his character, and I imagine a lot of the conclusions you draw are still accurate to his manga-canon backstory (what little we have of it, at least).

The part about how Luffy got Conquerors Haki was out of confidence. I don’t agree with you on that. Luffy got Conquerors Haki out of fear of losing his brother and that it will be another person he lost along with his crew. When they were about to execute Ace on the platform. But I agree that he is the most isolated character besides Robin. I would also love to know more about Zoro. I believe at this point Zoro is the only Character that hasn’t gotten a couple of episodes about. But he is my favorite character. I agree that there is more to Zoro then what meets the eye. I believe he takes that personality because everyone else is more carefree. So he has to be the one that is more critical and just a tad bit more reasonable especially when it comes to battle. But Wano is the first time we have ever really seen Zoro show this much extent of emotion that is not smug but revengeful and murderous.

Literally was having a debate with someone that said Zoro is a simple character, this man is very complexed, not as complexed as characters like Itachi etc, but just because he is not as complexed as that he still is complexed

    Spoiler zoro has conqer haki

  • @tahatoorabally7556

luffy doubted himself so many times since childhood man, Zoro also had confidence enough to face worlds strongest swordsmen(Mihawk) as early as baratie instead of saying "nah it is too soon" which black beard always does. also this is on the assumption that conquorors haki is stemming from confidence, but that is not at all the case man cause it is smth genetically passed down besides needing to awaken it on their own. likr Kaido an he is devoid of confidence in a sense cause he arguably has the biggest L's in the onepiece verse and also fears living (sucide hobby ans even planning world destruction cause he is too scraed to live long) but he has concuoros haki just fine so man your points are qute negated based on canon stuff and my perosnal bias and speculation combined.

i didn't need an any ally bruh if i have this man on my side , his loyalty it's something barelly rare to find especially nowaday. that kinda sad knowing eventually any relationship just always come out with self-benefits.

Well then make a video explaining a character who's deeper than that instead of just saying "you're wrong" with no actual argument to back this up.

I disagree with Zoro’s character Development.
Many kids say that because Zoro told Luffy if he make trouble for his dream of wss he will kill Luffy And Later Zoro sacrifice his Dream for Luffy. They say Zoro was a selfish character and become selfless for that reason 👆 I told and they said Zoro had a character Development because this change about Luffy. Really what a bad and Nonsense reason for character development. Zoro hasn't change at all Zoro in Thriller bark Just Choose between His dream of wss for kuina not for his selfish dream just for kuina and Luffy's dream.and first mate just how much Zorofans disrespect other Strawhats Loyalty. There is No need for firstmate since all of strawhats are so much Loyal to Luffy I am pretty sure if Nami and Usopp and all other If they were that much Strong like Zoro they would sacrifice like Zoro in Front of Kuma.Usopp only fought Luffy because of that special situation Usopp just Loved going merry so much even like a nakama Yeah He was wrong for fighting his captain and Leave the crew but only one time and Going merry was a nakama for him and he just can't Accept the facts.I am pretty sure if Luffy Bring back Usopp without Apology I'm pretty sure if Luffy were to bring Usopp back into the group without an apology, the crew wouldn't fall apart and there wouldn't be any problems because the Straw Hats are all fiercely loyal to each other and this was just an exception. Zoro fans only Without logic, they insult the loyalty of the rest of the Straw Hats.

Zoro is your typical loner swordsman we see in almost every anime. He's a great foil for other characters, but not a great character in and of himself. Zoro is like the basic knight in every fantasy quest setting: important, but dull.

hes a mid character and everyone thinks hes the greatest in onepiece and i dont understand how. hes just a decently written character with nothing that really stands out, he has cool moments and people think that coolmoment=great character or something. oda is amazing at story telling and scenery but those factors dont make zoro anything greater than sanji or luffy
