Life hack: if you put that Long screw for upper wishbone in opposite direction, you will have easier disassembly next time. After that you need only to disassembly the joint And remove Long screw. Upper mount And lower arm link does not need to be removed. You Just need to remove wheel arch, which is 5 minutes job.

I know is am very old video, but my question is if when i have to install back everything, do i need to lift the suspension and everything with something from underneath like a jack? Because i understood that is necessary in order to have a good alignment and to be installed right you need to have load on the suspension like is on the floor? If i got that right let me know thanks

So I changed everything on my 147.
Brand new KYB Shocks, Eibach Pro Kit springs, new control arms front/rear (with lubricated PU silent blocks in upper control arms), new Febi shock absorber cups, PU anti-roll bar upgrade.
I still get squeak over speed bumps, when making contact with them, and after car drops... I was suspecting those were the upper control arm bushes, but now that I have replaced them with PU, the sound is still there.
Do you have any ideas what it might be?
Could it be shock absorber cups making noise with the chassis? Should I perhaps lubricate them with silicone spray?

@@arcgarage Great channel, thanks for all the helpful advice! It seems my roll bar bushings are failing and cause a knocking sound. There is someone on TH-cam who replaces just the bushings by separating the bracket that holds the anti roll bar. I can get the rubbers for very cheap, but is this a good solution?

Thanks for yours videos! 👍 I think that is matter of what position of this wishbone before tightening. Because it works like a spring from a certain angle.
I'm replace upper wishbone on my AR 159 earlier this year 🤌and read that you're should tight it "under load"(for correct work) as if you do it with wheel on the ground. Maybe this is the same situation?🤔

Great sharing man. I got the same issue. Sprayed with silicone grease but only lasted a few months. Btw do you know if those upper control arm bushes are for sale separately? And what kind of grease did you used? I suppose white lithium grease is probably not best. Great video man 💪
Thank you buddy. I think you can get the bushing separately online. I used some kind o grease intended for rubber which I think is based on silicone grease.

true with the certainty that the rubbers of those new arms are very bad and in a very short time you have a worse sound and a short duration of the entire piece
Pozdrav druze, 159 je u pitanju. Skripi kada motam volan lijevo desno i kada nalijecem na neravnu cestu. Da li je donje ili gornje rame u pitanju? I da, kada padne kisa usuti se potpuno.
Do you know how long it takes before the bushings start squeaking again after manually lubricating?
Bukvalno sam samo uzeo remontovane i ugradio i nisam proverio ovo i sad skiči užasno a nigde lufta, auto preudoban za vožnju. Ništa, prva prilika skidam gornje viljuške i udri 😂 a šrafove sam se setio da podmažem, i da očistim ležište za šolje i još da namastim 😢
Nice video. It took me a lot of effort to maintain suspension on my AR156... What you need to keep in mind is that this is just a workaround. The arm is not supposed to rotate in the rubber bushing. Rubber must be pressed enough by the bolt to stop rotation in working position to act as designed (flex instead of rotation). With this modification you essentially created a bearing from rubber (?!). Rubber is not exactly good material for bushing which is constantly moving and hitting road bumps.So there are 2 options how to solve this permanently: Performance fix: Replace rubber bushings with PU alternatives and grease it well. Polyuretane holds much better than rubber. OEM fix:. Replace with new aftermarket rubber bushings and shorten metal tube inside the bushing (-0.5mm) so it gets squeezed enough by the long bolt. The issue is that aftermarket bushing is not manufactured correctly and the rubber starts rotating far too soon after installation. So if you don't do that, it will start rotating and squeezing within a year.
Also when you have the arm out, I recommend to paint the ball joint cap to prevent water leaks. Again it is not manufactured well and it will rust out from inside and cause plain. You can significantly increase its lifespan. I hope it will save you guys some wasted time on repeating this process, I learnt it the hard way :-)
Thanks, I had my battles with this as well, even if you fix them in place you will still put enormous strain on the rubber components, so I am not really for that as well, it would be best to put polyurethane bushings, and check them from time to time...
How to fix excess camber on front of 166?
Hi:) I have that squeaky noise on my 159 , front suspension. 2 questions> I have a quallity high temp grease with graffite, would that be good or you think it will destroy the rubber? 2) would wd40 do the trick without dissasembly... at least for a couple of weeks or a month? . thank you !
I would use silicone grease, wd40 won't help much, it will be good for maybe a week or two, if you manage to get it in there

Stavio sam ja nove od TRW-a, nakon 3000km desna skripi kao luda. Naspricao sam sa silikon sprejem, ali cim je malo kise opet pocne. Sve se cini da cu i ja morati u praksi napraciti sto i ti u videu. Odlican kanal!

I have a problem on all 4 suspensions. The rubber that's under the spring (the round one that is on the lower part of the spring) starts to desintegrate and it's now metal on metal on some spots.
I'm from Romania and couldn't find the part on any sites. What do you recommand me to do?
Hm, you should be able to get it from auto parts store, if not, grab some universal tubing for that purpose

They are great, a bit stiffer, but they will last a lot longer

I have an Alfa Gt 1.9 Diesel and when I turn on the air conditioning in cold mode, the suspension starts creaking? No one knows whats the reason, not even the Alfa dealer. I apreciate your help. Și mie îmi scârţâia când mă urcam în mașină și am găsit la brațul suspensie de jos pivotul s-a rupt cauciucul și s-a dus vasilina .Am schimbat tot brațul suspensie că doar pivotul nu se poate schimba.
ubi me skripa preko grba toliko da sam stavio gumice od powerlexa ali i dalje je skripalo. na kraju se ispostavilo da skripe i donje vilice. ali tu i tamo se cuje neko lagano skripanje. mislim da bi jedino mogla bit uporista amortizera jer gumice od balans stange su isto zamjenjena.
Ako nove nisu podmazane moze biti do njih, a cisto sumnjam da je do amortizera...
Svaka cast druze,pratim tvoj kanal vec neko vrijeme.i ja imam problem sa tim skripanjem al samo kad je hladno,međutim htjedoh da te pitam za drugi problem koji imam vec godinu dana.pali mi se lampica ASR kad pređem 60 km/h a na multiecuscan ne pokazuje nikakve greske.
Hvala puno. Pogledaj na diagnostici parametre abs senzora, i moguce je da je problem i u senzoru ugla volana. Ukoliko je do njega mozda ga samo treba rekalibrirati...
Ima li svaka 147 senzor ugla volana? Mislim da moja to nema jer nema VDC.
Nije prvi put da kazem, ali valja se s vremena na vreme: kanal je odlican. I to je sve bolji i bolji jer si nabavio jos alfi. Svaka cast!

Hi I have an Alfa GT tjd, 2009. The car is in pristine condition and I just adore the way it drives. But diesel is now in bad standing and an increasing number cities do not let such old diesel into the town. So my question is:
Is it possible with a reasonable cost to replace the engine of this car with a newer engine (fx. Giuilietta model) or with a GT-motor, which drive on benzin?
It is possible, but it will take bunch of work, and money, good idea nonetheless
