How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a TH-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

Some people in this world think that farmers don't care about their animals..... I can guarantee you Ryan and his family worried sick about keeping these cows warm on those cold days! That wind was really whipping! Cows are pretty resistant but adding that hay bale wind block I bet helped a ton!! God Bless

I also, like you, feel bad for your cattle. I remember reading my favorite author, Laura Ingalls Wilder, who wrote the about her husband, who she affectionly called "Manly" (Almanzo Wilder). Manly's father, couldn't keep all of his cattle, in the barn, so for the ones out in the barnyard, Manly's father, would get up, in the middle, of the night, on -40 degrees night, in Malone, N.Y., and with his bull-whip,run the cattle around the barnyard, until they warmed up, then come back to bed, and get up at 5:00 am, to begin the day anew. So, I can appreciate you, as a farmer. Thank you and your family, and all the farming family's, for what you all are doing, to put food on our tables.

It's amazing what a wall can do. It was always more comfortable inside our drafty dairy barn with about 80 head than outside in -22F wind chill. And we always had a Heat Houser on the loader tractor. When we got a skid steer, it was just 1 inch screen, no plexiglass, no heat.
