The "I'm not having fun" and still wanting to continue watching asap is so real. The show is amazing though. You definitely don't have to have played the game to understand it, but you might still feel connected more to it, because you only know characters from one point in their life. After watching several of your reactions I get the feeling that you're the type of person who can have coffee with someone for an hour and not remember very key parts of the conversation or their name but you could remember with absolute clarity how many out of place hairs there were growing on their left ear, as well as their drink order.
ALL songs are written for the show. :) After you are done with season 1, you can watch Bridging the Rift, basically a "making of" for Arcane. There, they talk about the music, among other things.
Fun fact: the drunk guy with naked butt from Ep.1 appears again in Ep.4. Being drunk again, he yells "Happy progress day!" from hot air balloon. Apparently, he is also based on one of the animation studio co-founders.
btw it's never explicity stated in the show, but is strongly implied that the glowing purple flowers, when eaten by Rio (the big salamander) are metabolized in a certain way (because of her mutation) and create an organic compound which Singed (the doctor) used as the basis to invent Shimmer. That's why "the mutation must survive." He needs her for his experiments.
@@aspieanarchist5439I think axolotls are basically juvenile salamanders. Baby salamanders look just like axolotls, but they lose their frilly gills and become more adapted to land.
It’s kinda crazy that for the entire show Singed is always working towards his main goal. He used rio to make shimmer, which he uses to make warwick/vander, which he uses to revive viktor, which he used to revive his daughter.
To be fair about the pink-haired girl: the writers and animators clearly want a viewer to experience Jinx's reality, which includes lingering uncertainty about who that was... among other things...
@@nihlify It switches back and forth between her and young Vi. It's reasonable for a first time viewer to mistake it for just showing the age difference.
Too many people are used to so many anime where the only physical difference between female characters is hair color. The personality and physicality of the pink haired girl are so obviously not Vi. Even if Powder had a growth spurt and Vi didn't so powder is somehow stronger, when does Vi ever try to get away from anyone? (Other than shimmer enhanced goons) Vi would have either hugged her or punched her. You can see Jinx work that out too. She doesn't shoot the girl until she proves shes not Vi by turning and running.
30:45 eggs were indeed used in paintings. a mixture of pigment with water and egg yolk was used to create paint before oil paints were adopted as the primary medium around 1400 - 1500. this paint is called tempera and many famous paintings used it - the birth of venus by botticelli is a good example, though it was created while oil paints were rising to popularity.
About eggs in paint(ing)s, yes, people used really weird ingredients in paints during Renascence. Eggs, saliva, and we better never ask Pollock about it too...
"... so I also don't know what you all last saw, and what you have been living with for the last two years ..." [takes breath] [stares] ... the abyss also gazes back.
4:33 yeah, it was. In Silco's talk with Vander before putting him in the chair in episode 3, he talks about how they now have the power to fight topside, which is when he namedrops shimmer. But yeah it's only mentioned once, when I first watched Arcane I didn't know it was called shimmer until episode 4 either. Btw you're fine for missing that it was Vi, most people do, you actually noticed pretty early on, I've seen people that don't realize until episode 6.
So, the part that you skipped, because you don't like "that man", was Silco questioning Marcus about why Vi is still alive? Marcus had jailed Vi and told Silco that she was dead. Silco and Powder/Jinx have thought that Vi was dead this whole time. Also, when Cait first met Vi in prison, Cait said "Who are you? There's no record of you, or your crimes." Marcus just threw Vi in there then forgot about her. It seems like Silco has been manipulating Jinx, but actually, everything he tells her is all true, as far as he knows. After Silco found out that Vi is still alive, he doesn't tell Jinx because he is afraid that Vi will take her away from him if she gets to her first. He doesn't want to lose his "daughter". Jinx and Silco are massively co-dependent at this point.
I believe she only skipped that scene in the reaction to save time and maybe she felt she said nothing particularly interesting during that scene but she obviously watched it.
The time skip was 6-7 years. Marcus daughter looks like about 5 years old. The mother is obviously dead. In my head-canon, Marcus had a pregnant, sick wife at home at the time of episodes 1-3. And that’s the reason he was so desperately trying to get results, especially after that one counsel member was basically threatening his career.
All the songs on Arcane`s soundtrack were written for it, that`s why the lyrics and episode plots mesh so well all the time! Also, a lot of episodes are titled after songs on the soundtrack!
You're one of the only reactors to I've seen that wondered about an age gap with Mel and Jayce and I really appreciate that. I don't think she's significantly older, but just the act of questioning it is important.

Heimderdinger is not fully correct in his approach, I wouldn't be too quick to side with him. It's true that his methods are safe, but it's to the point of being almost inconsiderate of others below him. Just as easy it is for rich people to say that "Money isn't everything", he takes TOO MUCH TIME and is carefree when giving the dying people what they need. Yes, he was correct about the hexcore thing (as we can tell from his vision), but he's not your typical "Old experienced guy that knows what he's doing" character either. You already finished season 1 so this isn't spoiler, but that can explain why he goes down to the Lanes himself, so that he can see the struggling people with his own eyes. If he would've taken this more seriously, then perhaps Jayce wouldn't have done something like voting him out the council. Remember, this is a show where everybody is morally gray, it is hard to see things as black and white if you really pay attention to these characters.
The time skip is more about 7 years (according to the writers). Jayce was 24 in the 1st act so he's about 31 here. Mel's age is uncertain, but I don't think it's that close. Don't know what that trivia got that from... my guess would be maybe 5 years older, so 35+ here?
Yep, Jayce is brand new on the council. And he's already trying to root out the systemic corruption and push for plans to address the horrific suffering in Undercity that Heimer has completely and totally ignored for the 200 years he's been the leader of this city. Jayce finds out Viktor is dying and tries to move heaven and earth to find a solution, Heimer finds out Viktor is dying (as a direct result of the polluted air he grew up in because Heimer let the entire undercity devolve into a slum) and all Heimer has to offer the man are empty cliche platitudes. Heimer's an affable person, but he's a horrible leader and every point Jayce made was valid. Jayce isn't suited to be a leader either, but he's the only one bothering to try.
I love how Vi blows off her Trinity Matrix level jump in the Parkour scene to mess with Caitlyn... 'My little sister could do that when she was seven.' Pfft! Arcane is full of iconic zingers and one liners, "Stop calling me that. My name is Caitlyn." "But you're so sweet! Like a cupcake." "... Shut up." is one of them. But for fans of the League of Legends game they know another level, Caitlyn's higher player skills involve... a cupcake. Love Caitlyn's panic in the brothel, then her finding her role to play. You may not know it, but 'You're Hot cupcake!' - - - - - In Jinx's lair she is having conversations with the puppets she made of Milo and Claggore. Arcane is so full of detail that you really have to slow it down and freeze frame, there are even 2 frame inserts that flash almost subliminally, but note the scenes of Jinx's hallucinations using the scratches, as in the arcade when she is flashing back to scenes with her sister, the scratch pattern is a series of V's and Vi's. There are V's in Vi's outfits and Jinx's have X patterns, the depth of detail is remarkable not only visually, but in the complexity of the characters. Amazing that an animated series bases on a video game is the best masterclass in character writing and storytelling. - - - - - Recall that Sevika lost her arm pushing Silco out of the path of Powder's blue crystal powered monkey bomb blast. (Sevika's shimmer powered arm), likely no, but Powder/Jinx's has the most untapped potential, in fact she has the most natural talent of anyone, she in only weeks with one crystal and some notes figures out how to work the Arcane magic that took Jayce, Victor, and Heimerdinger years. - - - - - One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist. The deprivation, abuse, and trauma experienced by members of the undercity by Piltover's ruling class and Enforcers have created in Silco someone who has internalized atrocity as the currency of power. The ends justifies the means, you don't become powerful by being the strongest, fastest, or smartest... but to those willing to do... anything. Silco has nearly lost his ability to feel empathy, until he mentors Jinx. Jinx who just happens to be the daughter of his former best friend. He is torn between doing whatever to whomever he needs to achieve his aims, he falters when it comes to Jinx as he does want to form human attachments still, but he knows that it is also a weakness, a vulnerability. - - - - - Heimerdinger has accomplished much as Viktor imagines, but he doesn't know the failures and regrets that Heimerdinger reflects on, he knows the dangers inherent in Arcane powers. Viktor turns to Singed as his mentor when he feels that he must go beyond the bounds of the Ethos to achieve his goals, and save his life. - - - - - Huck was the merchant friend of Vander's who he protects from being taken advantage of in a transaction at The Last Drop, after Vander's loss he becomes a Shimmer addict, “I just wanted to feel what it was like to be somebody. To make other people afraid.” As much as Huck wants to still be a caring good person, he is ruled by the demands of his affliction/addiction, thus the betrayal to feed his needs. His downfall mirrors the downfall of the undercity without Vander, and of what the city has always required of its citizens to survive. - - - - - Look at Jinx's tattoos... they are blue smoke, she subconsciously always wanted Powder to be found... by Violet. The song Guns For Hire by Woodkid is haunting that plays when Jinx lights the smoke flare. You might look to react to the full versions of Arcane original songs. "Kiss your perfect day goodbye. Because the world is on fire. Tuck your innocence goodnight. You sold your friends like guns for hire."
Arcane requires a certain amount of mental gymnastics when it comes to details since they are pretty much on the nose if you recall some of them from either notes or a really good memory. My advice is that taking notes is a must since the devil is, again, in the details.
It's understandable that so many people mistake the firelighter for being Vi, it's intentional after all. But narratively, once she immediately dies, that should clue you in that it's not, lol.
I feel like being late to watching arcane just really diminishes the cliffhanger. It feels less impactful being able to see what happened right away. So I'm glad I had to wait.
Mel is likely only a couple of years older than Jayce, that's one of the reason she called him a "boy meddling with things he doesn't understand" during the trial scene, she was trying to get under his skin to get some juicy information and she knew it would piss him off to be called that by someone around the same age as him and who isn't even a scientist. She's a subject of nepotism: As they say in episode 2 she's the richest person in the city but the poorest in her family so it's easy to imagine how she got a council seat. My personal headcanon is that her family has nothing to do with Piltover but since council seats belong to "houses", her family bought one from a house that had financial difficulties and was willing to trade political power for money. "I really didn't care about this man" Lol. Marcus is actually one of my favourite characters but I despise him as a person xD

I am hooked on Arcane and watching people experience it for the first time. You edge and willingness to just say fuck out loud, make it so refreshing to watch along with you. Welcome to the world of loving Jinx because she is fucking crazy.
For what it's worth, at *least* half of the reactors I've seen watch this show have made the same mistake about the girl who got shot being Vi. A little over half of them figure it out when Jinx comments on the Firelight 'wacko' looking like Vi, but a lot also make it to the end of the episode before realizing. And I've seen two who STILL thought it was Vi AFTER the episode, thinking that 'Vi' survived being shot and was sent to prison afterwards. I don't know when they would have figured it out, because both of those reactors didn't learn their mistake until after the comments informed them. So rest easy, it's a common mistake (which means maybe the showrunners could have done a slightly better job getting the information across), and you weren't bamboozled for longer than was reasonable (like those other two poor souls 😛) Anyways, I love your reactions so far you're really observant for the details, which impresses me regularly.

Heimerdinger has accomplished much as Viktor imagines, but he doesn't know the failures and regrets that Heimerdinger reflects on, he knows the dangers inherent in Arcane powers. Viktor turns to Singed as his mentor when he feels that he must go beyond the bounds of the Ethos to achieve his goals, and save his life.

Huck was the merchant friend of Vander's who he protects from being taken advantage of in a transaction at The Last Drop, after Vander's loss he becomes a Shimmer addict, “I just wanted to feel what it was like to be somebody. To make other people afraid.”
As much as Huck wants to still be a caring good person, he is ruled by the demands of his affliction/addiction, thus the betrayal to feed his needs. His downfall mirrors the downfall of the undercity without Vander, and of what the city has always required of its citizens to survive.

Look at Jinx's tattoos... they are blue smoke, she subconsciously always wanted Powder to be found...
The answer to all of your questions is: Yes. Except the ones that it isn't.
You angered so many people by saying “f^ck you” to Grayson XD
10:43 and 10:50
SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2
Can't believe she just predicted what would happen to Cait to Mel
You are crazy, it's a totally miss
Arcane requires a certain amount of mental gymnastics when it comes to details since they are pretty much on the nose if you recall some of them from either notes or a really good memory.
My advice is that taking notes is a must since the devil is, again, in the details.
Hahaha, of all the famous detectives you could pull from, the fact you went with Inspector Gadget is hilarious.
large amounts of people mistake pink girl for vi, you arent alone
It's understandable that so many people mistake the firelighter for being Vi, it's intentional after all. But narratively, once she immediately dies, that should clue you in that it's not, lol.
You didn't include the "Cupcake" quote.
4:38 your overthinkage is adorable!
“She’s insane, Powder is insane in a different way”
Man if that doesn’t just about sum up this entire series
I feel like being late to watching arcane just really diminishes the cliffhanger. It feels less impactful being able to see what happened right away. So I'm glad I had to wait.
I think you should watch every episode like 3 times how do you miss that much plot
You could take notes, a lot of reactors take notes if they have problems remembering things
Actual react commentary
4:55 you are the first to directly link "ah yes the monkey that killed everyone" when seeing that sketch signature!
Also you noticing the straw into drink at the bar paralel. Nice.
33:10 brutal HAHA
34:50 yes thats him! :D
"She's Either a very good actress, or she's gay. But I don't think she's a good actress" Has me ROLLING
0:23 THREE years 😭
Yes, THREE.
So tempted to timestamp each time lololol.😉
Watching these videos with the blessing of having foresight of already knowing what will happen is just so much fun and very hilarious at moments!!!
How tf do you not have more subs you’re incredible
I am hooked on Arcane and watching people experience it for the first time. You edge and willingness to just say fuck out loud, make it so refreshing to watch along with you. Welcome to the world of loving Jinx because she is fucking crazy.
• Gina says something
Gina: "Should I have said that...?"
• Proceeds to repeat similarly
Don't ever change, haha
For what it's worth, at *least* half of the reactors I've seen watch this show have made the same mistake about the girl who got shot being Vi. A little over half of them figure it out when Jinx comments on the Firelight 'wacko' looking like Vi, but a lot also make it to the end of the episode before realizing. And I've seen two who STILL thought it was Vi AFTER the episode, thinking that 'Vi' survived being shot and was sent to prison afterwards. I don't know when they would have figured it out, because both of those reactors didn't learn their mistake until after the comments informed them. So rest easy, it's a common mistake (which means maybe the showrunners could have done a slightly better job getting the information across), and you weren't bamboozled for longer than was reasonable (like those other two poor souls 😛)
Anyways, I love your reactions so far you're really observant for the details, which impresses me regularly. I showed up for the LotR since they're some of my favorite films, and now you're watching my favorite series of all time. You don't have a large library yet, but boy howdy is it stacked 👍
25:50 to be fair, Vi started the fight off with a surprise flying knee to the jaw. That was definitely cheating too.
8:56 “there’s ugly man” help🖐️😭💀
Her: What happened to little man?
Me: 😂😂😂 *holding my urge to say something*
”and viktor clearly isn’t” was foul😭😭
Just one thing to remember when you watch the final episode of season 1
Keep in mind, after that ending, we have to wait 3 YEARS so we can know what happened 😿
So i would just say, don't start season 2 like JUST after the ending of season 1
At least a week after
fun fact the guy playing the violin’s character model is based off the actual guy who played violin for the score
34:05 that "Ow." was so real
22:30 think of it like a steampunk electric violin with a built in amp and speaker (the horn is very similar to the old gramophone players)
At least that was my take.
Well, now im addicted to this show. Thank you, Gina. 😂 Also, I sooo cannot wait for IT reaction videos. Again, Horror writers unite. (Though really im more a dark fantasy/horror/thriller writer, I suppose.) Anyway, Im lovin' your stuff. Thanks, boo. ❤
It was my pleasure! Haha oh god the IT reactions are essentially going to be 40 minutes of me scared shitless and maybe a few laughing moments sprinkled in 😂
@@geenahreactsI look forward to it.
25:36
"I'm upset"
0.0001 second later
"Im happy"
😂
Jayce was 24 in eps 1-3 and Mel is about the same age. They're 33-34 after the time jump which is eps 4-9
skipping enemy feels so sacrilegious hahaha
19:25 “no bueno 😔”
A LOT of reactors miss that the girl isn't Vi.
Oh!! I just subbed as i finished your first vid. And directly get treated to this. XD nice!
Perfect timing!
Great video Gina! Cant wait for the next one 🍻🍻🍻
I laught so damn harf wen you bluntly said "i'm gonna off my self" 😅
Girl are you okay!?
20:51 me af. It’s out my mouth before I had time to revise and edit lmao
You are incredibly lucky that you were late because I will say the two year wait Was a doozy 17:49 also she’s been in prison for 10 years. Of course she’s gonna have that stuff on her.
There is beauty in imperfection…
20:38 i feel you about the rubics cube ive wanted to do me whole life... until someone ruined it for me apparently theres sequence to it... and that took all of the fun out of it for me ppl arent really solving it just memorizing a code basically lol...... and i think thats bs
S2 Act 2 Tomorrow!!!
Be glad you don't have to wait two years after that finale. I got a feeling you're gonna not have a good time quite a few times in the last few episodes...
Lol lots of parallels between Silco and Zuco!
dayum at 35:00 you have an impressive memory
That instrument:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroh_violin
You should do Invincible next
I love your reaction videos just so so much.
It's a violin with a megaphone attached to it.
I thought it was Vi too the first time I watched this show
31:08 the for showing is crazy
idk how u would have fared with the 3 yr long wait u have come at the perfect time 🤭
After all Vi wasnt so insane
No lie I thought that was also Vi until I saw her in that prison 💀😭. I completely understand why Jinx got confused lmao
I also though that girl was Vi there, I was confused for a while
I was a bit confused until all the characters kept repeating "it wasn't her", at some point you just gotta trust them, especially considering that girl was very dead last time we saw her and the first thing you tend to think when watching the airship scene is "wait a reunion this early? That can't be right..."
I only noticed that the pink haired girl has two different faces on rewatch, and that the Vi one is how she looked at 15/16 so it can't even be the correct face but the first time I missed the girl's real face.
Love your reaction. But homie, the show said it wasn’t vi like 4 times. And vi would’ve been taller and older than jinx after the timeskip and not the exact same…. But I respect the hustle and confidence
17:48 oh my stars the the IMMEDIATE distrust of Vi just cause she's inked up? What's so darn bad about that?? smh smh
You weren't kidding when you said you had trust issues
i need to see the ext paaarrrttttt
Next Friday!!
