A day late with this one but shit happens sometimes (aka life) but we’re here now and that’s all that matters! Also happy season finale day for season 2! I’m *terrified* of what awaits us in those final three episodes. Especially since episode 6 ruined my life. But I refuse to have it spoiled for me so I will be watching all of those episodes tonight and they will be up on Patreon soon! Also I will have season 2 reactions up on here as well! Just give me 2 weeks or so to 1) brave watching it all again as I edit and 2) edit in general. I’m thinking about combining all of the episodes together into 1 long video for you all.
I feel like I couldn't breathe watching season 2 even though i've been watching with each release. I fear if you binge all of season 2 you may pass out.
Considering the entire show centered around whether or not war would break out, and the ending answered it definitively... I thought it was a perfect ending. 😅 Didn't even think of it as a cliffhanger till I started watching reactions.
It’s the first scene/cold open of the third act(the show released in 3 episode long acts originally each week, and they’re very much like acts of a story). None of the three acts open with a flashback. The first act opening doesn’t count as a flashback because it’s the very first scene, so it’s not before anything yet, it’s just the time period(the story time jumps ahead a few years after the credits). The second act needs to settle the audience into the fact that the story has moved about 9-10 years ahead of the first act, so focuses on that rather than risk confusing the audience with multiple time periods. And the third act doesn’t want to risk mixing people up about whether we’ve skipped ahead or back again, so it starts with a focus on introducing the Firelight faction.
I think she's very manipulative early on because that's how she was raised but over time, she starts to genuinely care for Jayce and then her mother shows up so she changes and stop manipulating him. She realizes that she's acting like her mom and doesn't want to be like her.
@@HarryBuddhaPalm She was definitely manipulating Jayce at first, but she also definitely had good intentions the whole time. I think she genuinely started to like Jayce as she got to know him and realised his intentions were also altruistic, and also became more honest as a reaction to being confronted with her mother's... entire personality, I guess.
Fun fact, you can see Jinx earlier in the show work on those butterfly bombs, when she staples her leg injury. Also, Jinx kinda swaps between 3 versions of herself. Powder, who has light blue eyes, Jinx/Powder who has deep blue eyes, and Loose Cannon Jinx/ The Demolition Diva who has searing pink eyes. And guess what? Ekko's bridge fight is a brilliant scene, because there was no way for him to win. Ekko told Vi that Powder is gone and all that's left is Jinx. However, Ekko knew that if he just fought Jinx in a straight fight, she would win. She was way too unpredictable and chaotic. So, in order to alter the fight so that he had a chance at winning, he had to bait her into a pattern he knew. He mimicked a game they played as kids so that she would fall into the same firing pattern. The one problem with this: He keeps saying that Powder is gone, but the only way that this gambit can work is if Powder is still in there. And, since Powder is still in there, when he beats her, he can't bring himself to kill her. If Powder is truly gone and Jinx is all that's left, she doesn't play the game, and so he loses. Since Powder isn't fully gone, he recognizes her and can't keep hurting her, and so he loses. Plus, at that point, since Powder has resurfaced, she just wants her pain and the pain she causes others to end. So, in order to win, she's willing to just blow herself up and end it all. There was no way for him to come out on top. Either he loses, or they both lose.

Mel Medarda is my favorite Arcane character... which is saying a lot given how many amazing characters are in this show. You are totally right that she's extremely manipulative - charisma, wealth, intelligence and guile are her weapons and her means of survival... but that doesn't mean she's a bad person. Indeed, there are very few purely "evil" characters in Arcane (which is precisely why Silco is such an amazing villain); Mel comes off badly in the first half of the show - she's clearly using Jayce for his Hextech - but that's before you get her perspective... I think the turning point is when Jayce comes to her after Victor's collapse; before this, it seems highly likely that she's seducing him mainly as a means of controlling him. But, after he starts opening up to her - something which surprises her initially - she seems to soften towards him, moving towards a genuine relationship. Of course, it's hard to tell for sure, but when her mother shows up (another fabulous character) then you really start to understand her as a person. I really like artfulness and efficacy of this perception shift: it's reminiscent of the reader's evolving understanding and appreciation of Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones/ASoIaF, another character that I really love. This shift really endeared Mel to me as a character (her being perhaps the most drop-dead gorgeous cartoon character I've ever seen certainly didn't hurt, either).

I totally agree about Silco. He was trying to protect Jinx while still moving forward to help his people at almost any cost (while Vander only maintained the status quo at the expense of those people). He also knew Jinx better than Vi, he didn't need to see the shock Vi had when watching Jinx fight the Firelights to know she was wrong. Vi wasn't lying per se, she was just wrong in her belief. As you said, complex characters.
Protect her insofar as he kept her breathing. Everything he did broke down her mental health and directly contributed to her attempted suicide. Because Silco never actually saw Powder as her own person, she was just a doll he projected himself onto. It's why at the end he can look at this emotionally destroyed, drug addled wraith barely clinging to santity because of all the pain and misery shes existed in for years and call it "perfect". Just pure enablement of the worst kind. Silcos entirely blind to the harm he does and ultimately destroys everything and everyone around him.

Writing this comment as you're thinking through it so maybe you get there, but they're built like a lot of other societies where the top siders lavish, opulent lifestyle is at the expense of the exploitation of the weak. The gas that Silco talks about that's in the lower levels of the city comes out of the mines. Vander's gauntlets (and Vi's new ones even) are designed for mining. I think thats unfair. He makes poor decisions for the right reasons. And we dont know what he saw (I havent seen the final eps as of this comment. getting read to ride to my friends to watch em). Jayce is a guy whos a bit too ambitious and impatient. He's also too codependent on others making him easy to manipulate. But he has a good heart and a genuine desire to do good. Look at Vi's gauntlets. Those were meant to be tools to help the working class. That includes the people of Zaun. He ultimately should have stayed a scientist. With Heimer keeping his ambition in check. In that respect. Mel was the biggest issue. She is a lot like Silco in some regards. No where near that radical, but very much a manipulater looking to extend her power and influence - often at the expense of others.
Now I can start S2. Jace is a p***, seen a couple good character breakdowns and aside from justifying my shade for Jace, Victor has some little parts in scenes I wouldn’t have picked up. Thanks for the Reactions.🔥
You are so biased about some of the characters, I'd find it annoying if I didn't know what Arcane had in store for them 😂 😂 instead I felt some shadenfreude haha Piltover is pissed about the notion of Zaun's independance as much as USA would be about Hawaï's, or Porto Rico's - and for the same reasons.
Re: Silco. You aren't alone on this front, not in the slightest. That last scene was absolutely heartbreaking. He wasn't a good person, and I would definitely not say he was a good father, but he genuinely loved and believed in her I have no doubt. The way he went out and the fact that she was the one pulling the trigger was crushing.
@@adamyoung6797 I wouldn't go as far as to say "butcher", but I do agree that the writing in season 2 feels more bombastic and less tight. There's logical inconsistencies, rushed sections, etc. So make that 2 people on your list of people who liked Season 2 less than 1.
she is alive first when the explosion happens before that u can see a purple line for a single frame ( same as jinx super speed ) second cat see the blueprint there will be lot of ventilation in that chamber where the bomb explode ( jinx escaped through that vent ) plus ekko said before these ventilation spread throughout underground city third the last scene u can see a blimp ( powder said in first episode oneday she want to travel in that blimp ) and we can see jinx scribbles at the end of that scene means she is leaving piltover and zaun fourth i believe jinx is going to noxus ( is a region the next arcane story will be focused i think so) because we saw swain's crow (sixeye) travel along with the jinx's blimp ( maybe to cure warwick/vander i dont know)
Yeah I cried when Silco died... I agree that he's not a good person and did a lot of shit, but he loved Jinx the way he thought was right. A lot of it was his own trauma speaking as well. He's one of my fave characters, so well written and had so many banger lines. But on another note, not the Jayce hate 😂 I really like Jayce, he tried to do what was right (like wanting to close down the Hexgates, etc.), but he was just being manipulated and misguided. Also he wasn't well-versed with dealing with the political stuff before being thrown in the middle of it. Mel is so cool, I love her character design but I agree that a part of me didn't trust her at all bc I find her manipulative as well, all the way until the last 2 episodes when I saw that she was actually trying to be diplomatic. Then I was like okay maybe she is manipulative but still has a sense of morality. I really don't her mother as well tho, can't believe so many reactors seem to think she's badass. Like no thanks. for my part i got adicccted to reactons of season 1
Now I can start S2. Jace is a p***, seen a couple good character breakdowns and aside from justifying my shade for Jace, Victor has some little parts in scenes I wouldn’t have picked up. Thanks for the Reactions.🔥
You are so biased about some of the characters, I'd find it annoying if I didn't know what Arcane had in store for them 😂 😂 instead I felt some shadenfreude haha
Piltover is pissed about the notion of Zaun's independance as much as USA would be about Hawaï's, or Porto Rico's - and for the same reasons.
Dawg why are you so unhinged 😆
the whole series is very "shakesperey*
I don't understand why you hate jace, you want victor to stay alive and jayce betrayed heimerdinger to save victor, why hating him :)
btw, you are pretty
So this season is incredible. The second season pretty much butchers everything great about it so... Watch at your own discretion
you’re the first person I’ve seen who thinks that
@@adamyoung6797 I wouldn't go as far as to say "butcher", but I do agree that the writing in season 2 feels more bombastic and less tight. There's logical inconsistencies, rushed sections, etc. So make that 2 people on your list of people who liked Season 2 less than 1.
Would you say you hate jayce from all that you watched?
hmm depends on if I can factor in what I've seen up until ep 6 of season 2
@ especially after episode 6. There are so many mixed options, I’d love to hear yours
We had to wait 2 years, but it's OK, because season 2 sucks... FUCK
Love your reactions and you 😍
she is alive first when the explosion happens before that u can see a purple line for a single frame ( same as jinx super speed )
second cat see the blueprint there will be lot of ventilation in that chamber where the bomb explode ( jinx escaped through that vent ) plus ekko said before these ventilation spread throughout underground city
third the last scene u can see a blimp ( powder said in first episode oneday she want to travel in that blimp ) and we can see jinx scribbles at the end of that scene means she is leaving piltover and zaun
fourth i believe jinx is going to noxus ( is a region the next arcane story will be focused i think so) because we saw swain's crow (sixeye) travel along with the jinx's blimp ( maybe to cure warwick/vander i dont know)
When she sees Maddie I don’t want her to hate her
SPOILERS FOR THE FINAL EPISODE BELOW
21:24 um. i mean.
Anyways, I've rambled on enough haha, I just discovered this show like a month or two ago but I've been so obsessed sinceee. I'm glad I didn't have to wait long after the end of S1 as well 😂 Can't wait for your S2 reactions!
there’s actually a deleted scene where ekko tries to “save” jinx from silco and she buffs him hence the “boy savior” comment 🥲
There is?? Give. Me. The. Link. Right. Now.
@ unfortunately less of a link more of a commentary 😔
