I guess the creators did too good a job (or conversely, dare I say it, a not so good job?) of getting us inside Jinx's mental state during that scene - in that even we got confused and couldn't tell them apart. 😅😅
I understand why it’s confusing, but I think you misunderstood the relationship between Silco and Jinx. It is not romantic in any way. The reason it feels uncomfortable is because she’s a grown woman, acting like a child around him, because her trauma has stunted her mental maturation. If you saw a child sitting on their father’s lap you wouldn’t find it creepy, but she’s essentially childlike in these moments. It’s important to understand this, because that ick feeling of thinking they’re romantically involved, may distract from scenes with the two of them.
For a split second when I first watched this episode, I thought the same as you, but as the scene goes on, I feel it becomes more obvious on rewatch. And if you rewatch the end of episode 3, you can see in Silco’s eyes, that even though he’s the bad guy and is doing everything wrong, he genuinely thinks he’s doing a good thing by taking Powder in. She can’t see his face from her position, he didn’t have to put on that expression of sympathy. If he were taking her in with evil intention, he would have likely been smiling, like a character like like Scar from Lion king, while he spoke. In my opinion, he genuinely sees her like a reflection of himself and his situation with Vander. That’s why he says “We will show them”. He feels they’re one and the same and he has a soft spot for her.

I love the little touch of Jayce bringing flowers. My interpretation: He's visiting a friend who's just got blown up, so brings them, because that's polite (and her parents might raise a brow if he didn't) but knows Caitlyn wont care, so doesn't bring anything over the top (and has zero reaction to her throwing them aside) - unlike the huge bouquets others have sent, with their cards still in them, probably unread.

Like you can tell he's tried this before, and knows better. So he got the most basic thing out of shear politeness and formality.
There are thousands of flowers in her room, probably, from everyone important in this city, since "nobles oblide" to bring flowers.
And Cain's parents aren't against any type of their relationship. Jayce is now one of the richest and influential people in Piltover, so they are OK with him now.
Ive always read this as Jayce is interested in Caitlyn but she is completely oblivious and uninterested for reasons. Not only the flowers but the scene of Jayce coming up behind her and tapping her hat imo feels like boys teasing the girl they like.
Cait is young when Jayce was already 24. Jayce is like an older brother to Cait.
Vi and Powder were 15 and 7 respectively before the timeskip. Jinx and Echo are both 17 after the timeskip and I think Cait is 25 like Vi is since they are the same age. Jayce is probably like 34 or 35 now after the timeskip.

Vi was 16 when she was sent to stillwater, it shows in her prison files that was available when the show was released, and the time skip was 7 years, so she's 23/24 now. Cait is 1 or 2 years younger, and Jinx really was 11, I think...

So.... to recap. The plot of Act 1 started with Powder / Jinx stealing Jayce's magic blue balls, and blowing up a building that almost killed Caitlyn in the process. Now, in Act 2, the plot starts with Powder / Jinx stealing Jayce's (new and improved!) magic blue balls, and blowing up a building that almost kills Caitlyn in the process. The time jump seems to be about 7 years between episodes 3 and 4. Vi and Caitlyn went from being in their mid-teens to their early 20s, which makes Jinx a teenager now. Also, Caitlyn and Jayce are most definitely NOT dating... 😁

@@AppleBaron Uh that's not as weird as you'd think, lot of parents today have age gaps ranging anywhere from 5-10 years, it's just how things were back then. Obviously it's become more streamlined & normalized to only date someone 1-3 years apart or same age but even still it's shrinking. Stupid & pointless if you ask me, you should be able to date anyone if you both love each other regardless of age gap. For instance I'm 22, but if I bumped into a woman who told me she was 28, but she turned out to be the love of my life I wouldn't bat an eye? Because it's about actually loving and caring for the other person not seeing them as a commodity trophy to be showed off.

To elaborate on jinxs and silcos relationship:
Jinx (or better said powder) is stuck in her trauma. Wich he knows. But the relationship isn't going or meant to be seen in the direction that you think it is going.
If you see a 5 year old little girl sitting in her dads lab, you dont think its creepy. Powder is essentially stuck being 5 (sometimes).
She needs love and compassion, wich he gives her.
She cant have that from her sister anymore.... But from the beginning powder always needed that. She has mayor abandonment issues (see episode 3), where if she thinks shes being left even goes into a mental breakdown/psychosis episode.
So she clings to anyone that is like family to her.
You are not the only ones that see these scenes and thing its creepy or has a weird vibe to it. Which im great to see, its important.
But its also important to understand that the relationship they have is "father-Small dependent child", not only "father-daugther".
It add to his character and gets in some complexity. That it feels off is intended, and without spoiling to much ... We will get into more depth of their relationship and understand better their dynamic.
To better spot "powder" (the child like spirit in jinx), look for the big eyes, the forward lips and the round face. You see that change pretty well. Thats how you know she switched and if you should treat this as a "child" situation.
Example: when she goes to silco slowly, and hugs him.
I also recommend watching "bridging the rift-the making of arcane" here on TH-cam from riot themselves AFTER you are done watching the series. If you are interested in a documentary.

I do think Jinx/Silco's relationship is intentionally portrayed as *right* on the line of creepy because it's supposed to be a perversion of Vi/Vander's father/daughter relationship. It's not supposed to convey anything weird happened, but it's supposed to make you feel uncomfortable.

@@paulmace4487 ehhh I think it's still pretty subjective, while I want to agree with you 100% unfortunately I saw nothing wrong with their relationship on 1st watch, same exact thing with the "water baptism scene" apparently when I saw everyone reacting & everyone freaking out saying it made them uncomfortable I just laughed & assumed majority of the audience was sheltered or something

She and silco have father daughter relationship not everything is sexual, she just comfortable no filter and maybe she always was like sitting close since was a kid.
She not really crazy,she has anxiety depression paranoia so much trauma and abandonment issues not much comfort or love,so much people in her leaves keep leaving her leaving her behind
So I didn't notice this on my initial viewing, but after a subsequent re-watching I noticed "Vi"'s still the same young teenager, this' when Jinx/Power's (J/P) fighting the gang at the beginning. That's a very cleaver way of telling the audience that J/P isn't actually fighting VI since she doesn't have a conceptual understanding of how Vi has grown. Just realized it also hints to the viewer that J/P or Vi haven't seen one another, which the viewer could ask where Vi's been if she hasn't been around. Imagine the amount of guilt that must've put on J/P. She must think Vi really had abandoned her. Their dynamic is quite tragic, but I suppose that's why the show's so beloved, because of how deep they made everything. =^._.^=

There have been hints to Powder/Jinx's mental stability since the first scene as a kid on the bridge.
I kept thinking if there's some sociopathy there like she only cared about Vi. But also maybe Vi told her to sing and not look to protect her from all of it.
@@Gemini_mind I was more referring to the sketchy flashing animation, like it shows in the scene in her cave when she's talking to her "ghosts". They seem to use that when she's disassociating. First time watching it people think it's part of the animation, but I think it was the animators way of hinting at her mental state in reaction to the traumatic scene.

Most people get convinced that girl was Vi the first time they see her. To be fair, at the first glance we see the girl's face IT IS actually Vi's face. It's only at the second glance that we see it's not actually her (although extremely similar), and in both instances we only see her for a few seconds so it is a comprehensible mistake to make 😅
I disagree. There are at least 4 lines after that that clarify that it’s not Vi.
@@jayfrancelf Well yeah, if you're quiet and paying attention it's easy to catch it, but if you're a reactor (especially if you're with another reactor) it's easier to miss them. Hence why most reactors get confused until they hear one of the lines or eventually see the real Vi.
I wouldn't say Jayce forgot about Victor, like even after all these years, his face and name being everywhere and this amazing opportunity to give this big speech, Jayce still doesn't take all the credit and keeps thinking about Victor, having no problem and even insisting on him going to the stage with him to give this super important speech. It's just that Victor doesn't allow himself those things, bc of his state, which is the sad part, bc he wants it too, just not this way.

Yeah, that's a weird problem to have. You think up a storyline where younger sister hasn't seen older sister for years, then she sees a near lookalike to her sister and thinks it's her, but to make that happen, you have to have a character who looks close enough to believably fool her sister, but then most of the audience of your series gets fooled and confused for most of the episode. I confess, on my first watch-through, I thought Jinx killed her sister in the beginning of this episode. Or wounded her badly. Even later in the episode where they had Jinx say twice "It wasn't her.", I was so convinced Jinx was completely crazy that I couldn't trust her judgement on that. I thought she had killed her sister and couldn't accept it. I think the official count of years on the time jump was 7 years.
The creators refuse to put a hard number on how long the time jump was but it was mentioned Powder was supposed to be about 9 in the first three episodes and is intended to be portrayed as about 16-17 from episode 4 onward. About a 7 year jump.
Mia Sinclair Jenness was also 10 when she was cast and turned 13 when she recorded the heartbreaking last line of Episode 3 which is why Powder`s voice kinda cracked slightly towards the end but Mia was still young enough to pass for a kid.
It really is Vi's face for a few frames. I think the animators weren't clear enough that its not her and we're only seeing Jinx's delusions. So many people get confused. Many the girl should have said something like "who's Vi?"
Eh Jinx confirms its not her in two different scenes afterwards.
Not everything needs to be dumbed down. Leave that to the other 99% of television. It was the intent to have you experience what Jinx experiences.
She initially didn't know if it was real either, and it was brilliantly done by the animators.

It was very clear. They showed the real girl's face right after. Very clearly different from Vi's younger face.
a lot of people will look on jinx as just a crazy person, when in reality she is a certified genius, smarter than all of them. most of the time she lets people think she is mad and has no idea what she is doing but if you watch carefully, you see those small moments when she stops playing crazy and is completely focused. oh, she is totally in control of her actions and knows exactly what she is doing. that is the real crazy thing, when a genius is pushed too far and no longer cares who gets hurt. in many ways she is an example of Dr. Jeckly and Hyde
She’s not playing. She’s just also very smart.
I mean she is still a schizophrenic with PTSD, but she is definitely a genius among all of them. Up there with Jayce and Viktor for sure.

So age wise in Act 1 (episodes 1-3) Powder and Ekko are around 10 years old, Vi and Caitlyn are about 13-14 and Jayce is 24 and Viktor is about the same.
Time jump about 7 or 8 years later, in Act 2 (ep 4-6) and Act 3 (ep 7-9) Jinx is about 17 or 18, Vi and Caitlyn are about 22 or 23 and Jayce and Viktor are about 32 or 33 now.
I cannot WAIT for you to see the next episode! It's so good. I'm so hype to watch it with you.

Just a quick note; you didn't miss any further infos about the time-jump. There's nothing (apart characters look) explaining how much time passed by. Usually, most of the people will agree on 6 years, approximately.

i genuinely don’t understand how people get romantic or creepy connotations from silco and jinx. it’s like they completely misunderstood the end of episode 3. they are a direct parallel to vi and vander.

In the prologue, Vi was like 13 and Powder was like 6, Vander, Benzo and Silco were about in their 40s and the flashbacks showed them in their early 20s and 30s , after the first time jump in Episode 1 Vi was 14-15 and Powder was 9-12 and here Powder/Jinx is 17-19 and Vi is 22-23, as is Caitlyn.

I dont think its ever stated how long the time jump was but around 6 years i would think to be faily accurate. Powder/Jinx still looks somewhat young but not kid young and Cait now working in the police force so she is definatly an adult. Its hard to tell with Vi as u couldent se her face as mutch but DAMN she get real buff.

It's never confirmed how big the time jump is but it's pretty widely accepted that around 7 years passed between ep 3 and 4. Personally I think Powder went from like 10 to 17 years old and Vi and Caitlyn from 16 to 23. And with that Jayce would have gone from 24 to 31
iirc, it's been roughly 7-8 years since episode 3, which puts jayce roughly around 31-32ish, vi roughly around 21-22ish, jinx roughly around 17-18ish if that helps at all.
Thank you for the edit before the most common mistake that far too many people make with this episode. I can't understand how so many reactors can't see differences in faces or looks. It's the most bizarre thing to me to understand what a scene was doing the first time I watched it, yet 80% of anyone else that watches it can't seem to. It's like people see one thing, correct or not, and their brain stops functioning like it's saying they don't need the information anymore.
there are actually quite a few things in this episode that is suddle and a lot of people will probably not pick up on that goes on in the episode. i had to watch it a couple of times to get it all and i feel like i still missed a few things. this is a really important episode for the whole show. great reactions can't wait to see both of your reactions as the show goes to the end of season one.

I've never seen anyone get through the whole episode without realizing it wasn't Vi but it's all good. I'm sure they'll figure it out on the rewatch.

Jinx grew up physically, but never mentally. There are a lot of comments that will say Silco is being a great dad to her, but he's really not. He may not wanna harm her and they're most certainly not lovers, but he is really just enforcing his own traumas and experience on this already traumatized, mentally deranged teenager just because they both think her sister abandoned her. I love Silco as a character, but this needs to be said.
I'm not trying to start an argument, but... I wonder if you think Vander was a good dad? He also put his own traumas onto Vi. His guilt about the consequences from decisions he made as a leader. He engrained in her that she is responsible for anyone who follows her. "If anything happens... it's on YOU".

Just so yall know and don’t feel weird about their relationship jinx and silco have a father daughter relationship he yes manipulated jinx but at the same time genuinely loves her like a daughter so there isn’t any grooming or weird like relationship or sexual tension or what ever I seen a lot of people think that until the end so I want to just clear it up for yall it is 100% father daughter no weird sexual tension or anything he loves her the way vander loved her ironically and everyone knows she is silcos “daughter” u will hear a member of the gang say so her self later on so it’s a clear thing that jinx is silcos weakness in a lot of ways he even defends her from his own men like u saw when the girl was complaining about jinx silco didn’t want to hear it and blamed her anyway and instead of punishing or threatening his daughter he tells her to take a break instead but don’t get it twisted he does manipulate her but I think it’s more out of fear he loves her so much that he would manipulate her to keep her around kinda thing u will see just pay attention to jinx and silcos interaction u can see the manipulation but u can also see some genuine love in there as well I love their relationship there have been people who made videos that even broke down jinx and silcos relationship because there is just a lot of layers to them both as individual characters and as father and daughter

As both long-time LoL player and DC fan, Jinx has always struck me as a chaotic gun-crazed gremlin and I think this chaotic nature is what folks find in common with Harley Quinn, thought I totally agree that her personality would align most with Joker.

I'm sure people already commented on it, butthe red/ pink head Jinx killed in the beginning was not Vi. When you see Vi's face, it's through Junx's perception, The girl's real face can be seen at 7'54"
Two more things: Heimendinger is way, WAY, too cutesy cute for this show. I seriously distrust it.
And the actress voicing Jinx is the same one that plays Lucy in Fallout. The difference between the characters couldn't be starker. The girl has RANGE.

Also just in general this combo has been great to watch! Meesh and Dee are fantastic reactors and the little pop ups from the editor are great! You guys all three work together so well to the level of who I personally view as the best which is Yaboyroshi! A great blend of reactor and editor! Amazing job! Now back to binging this series!

Don't feel bad about mistaking the girl with purple hair for Vi on your first watch. Most people do and the show is set up in such a way as to confuse the audience at least up to the point when Jinx mentions it towards Silco. Here, have a 🧁
As for the relationship between Jayce and Caitlin, I think it's a bit like a big brother, little sister relationship. There's no romantic feelings between the two of them but by the time the video is posted on TH-cam, you've probably figured that out by yourself as well. 😉

It took them 6yrs to drop this show. There was 3 acts, 3 episodes per act.. We been waiting almost 2yrs for season 2 to drop this November. Why would you say Jinx and Silco don't have a health relationship, cause she shoots him up in the eye with shimmer.. LOL It's really about to get good ladies.
