@@rvpstudioscanada3991 Bateman was a terrible fit for Little House on the Prairie (really bad, actually) but turned into an outstanding actor with excellent comedic timing on Silver Spoons. Schroder just wasn't that great of an actor and his character had no spice. It's not surprising that Bateman was more popular. He was even better in "It's your move," his own show. Alfonso Ribero was a good match for Schroder - both mediocre actors with boring character personalities, so no real imbalance of talent.

There is nothing not to like about Jason Bateman. As a kid I noticed him stand out in Silver Spoons, which I loved. He then kind of went into sitcom hell roles, IMO. I was so glad to see his career revival in Arrested Development and that show is a top three TV comedy for me. That lead to more amazing works. I cannot help but root for this guy. I love his dry sense of humor off stage/camera as well.
I read to where he took most of the 1990s off due to drug and alcohol use. Im glad he overcame those demons. I just finished binge watching ozarks. That is my all time favorite jason bateman show.

For some reason he was like a frenemy to Ricky on Silver Spoons!! LOL Yeah he generally was a jackass to Ricky, a pervert, and kind of a troublemaker but yeah he was funny!! Especially when he hit on girls and Kate!!! LOL
He used to be James Cooper Ingalls . Life threw james a lot of curves--he was orphaned, taken in by a family who slave-worked him and beat him unjustly--he ran away only to bust his leg in a beartrap, then got shot by a bank robber. It's like Somebody Up There really hated James!
I was so sad that he had to leave the show, I’m currently on season 3 of silver spoons and it’s so hard to get through because it just doesn’t feel the same without derek

@@kathyturman1118 but that's what his character in Ozark is supposed to be? apathetic and calm, he's dirven by logic, has an intp type personality. there are instances on the show where it becomes blatantly clear that he doesn't allow himself to get distracted by emotions when he's especially focused on the task at hand. i predict he's about to reach a breaking point next season so we'll see. but i suggest you to watch the movie disconnect or the gift. he's amazing in these.
