I love the line “I hope you’re happy.” At the the end. The double meaning makes me cry. Bo is saying it in the context of “I hope I’ve done a good enough job that you are happy.” But also “Are you happy with what you have done to me?” His messages always make me cry. I hope he is doing better now.
"He is a ridiculous human being, and I love him" and "I don't understand why it's good" are probably the best and most relatable descriptions of Bo Burnham's work that I've ever heard! 😂
This was his last performance for 5 years. The next was the Netflix special by himself for a year in one room. This is so chilling and profound, and funny, until you realize. Thank you for bringing this back.
This song is meant to be a parody but it breaks down after the burrito bit and Bo bears his soul. He'd been having major anxiety through his comedy career, particularly in front of a live crowd and had been having severe panic attacks while on stage. This song was his way of telling everybody that he didn't think he could handle it right then, and he took a 5 year break from live performances after this performance. The song is funny, it's inspirational, it's incredible. I hope you look at more of his work.
He's really smart. everything he does is clever. Hes very musically talented and most of his stuff is way more musical and catchy. I'll watch every bo song you do.
Every time. Every damn time. I am utterly arrested by "If they still don't understand you / Then you run it one more time / I don't think that I can handle this right".
It very much feels like he was desperate to be heard but he was very much trapped in this cage of being a comedian. People didn't take him very seriously
This was the last performance he did for many many years, he went back stage after this and had a breakdown. His newest release , Inside is the first thing release by him since this show.
The pringles and the burrito are a metaphor for fame, and how he can’t deal with it. No matter how much he reaches, he can’t get what he wants without it blowing up in his face. And when he does get everything he wants, it still falls apart.
Love your channel! Thanks for sharing! Bo is an artistic genius. There are a bunch of his older songs which maybe didn’t age as well but even those are impressive. His new stuff is top tier.
Personally I don't appreciate the fact that most of the time you aren't looking at the video and you're looking at lyrics and the camera, you aren't getting the full immersion
Thanks for reacting to Bo. “He’s a ridiculous human and I love him” is pretty spot on. This piece is my favourite of his. Although I heard him say in an interview that there were no intentional metaphors, I find that difficult to fathom give him the perfection of them. If he chose this metaphor subconsciously, then he is even more of a genius than I thought. I see the Pringles can as a metaphor for the boxes that we are told to fit into in life and how they are all just too small and too tight and many of us feel like we just can’t fit. Why can’t they just make the boxes wider? I felt like this about the medicine. The burrito is life. What we think we want isn’t what will actually make us happy, and we waste a lot of our time and energy accruing things that we think we want only to discover we have a mess at the end and that wasn’t that we wanted at all. I got to the point where I just couldn’t handle it right now either and I walked away from my career. I tried to give patients the care and compassion that I could never find for myself. Sigh. It’s like he’s in my head. And to know that he was having an active panic attack during this and the third scream at the end was just visceral. It guts me. I feel his pain.
Sometimes the best ideas just come out of you; that perfect spontaneous reply, or that perfect social media post, or that perfect project; and sometimes you realize later why they came out of you and what was really behind it. Even if he was not consciously aware of it at the time, I think it came straight out of his subconscious mind.
“Thank you. Goodnight. *I hope you’re happy.*” One of the hardest stealth doubles ever. I hope you’re happy as in the straight-forward interpretation, but also in the sarcastic, “See what you’ve done to me? I hope you’re happy” sense.
I have no way to verify this, but I’ve heard that towards the end during this bit, Bo was actively having a panic attack due to the idea of telling his fans that he can’t handle the big life for a bit. So some of those outbursts were his way of trying to artistically work through the panic attack without messing up the show.
I’m under this impression as well. I feel like I heard him say something about it during an interview but I could be misremembering. Either way, his mind is a very big place.

@@WafleEnterprises there’s a really good interview he did with vulture a couple years after this about this song’s meaning and what he was dealing with at the time. Idk if the post-show 2 hour breakdown is fully accurate, but he does talk about going back stage and having an emotional meltdown after the show. Regardless of it being 2 hours or 20 minutes…it’s the same in my mind. I know what living with panic attacks is like and can confirm that that’s a pretty normal part of it.
The opening to BO's NETFLIX special; "What." is highly underrated. Never seen anyone react to it. It gives you a peek at what he thinks about himself, his life, and his situation. Like any good book or essay following the format of: say what you're gonna say, say it, then tell them what u said; his last song in that special is also worth a reaction. Is called "we think we know you".
I think the beginning of the song is supposed to sound ridiculous, but they are actually metaphors. I can't handle this= Pringles are in a can, and he can't properly handle the chips to get them out. Messy burrito= the burrito is about how expectations can become overwhelming and can make someone a mess. You can even say the crumbs at the bottom of the can are excess expectations. Bo has always been a perfectionist, to a fault. It's awesome that he is taking time to really see what he needs and not what others need from him.
🤣 ... your reaction to the "I'll blow my dad, before I eat a burrito with a fork" bit... I don't recall you being speechless before. Bo is awesome. Edit to add... this song had me balling by the end. You can "feel" that it's real.

The chipotle reference relates to his career. The burrito expert is supposed to guide him as he builds his burrito to make sure he doesn't overdo it. He doesn't do a good job and he wouldn't have got a lot of the ingredients if he knew how it'd turn out. Back to his career, the burrito expert is his agent. His agent is supposed to support him as he builds his career and make sure he doesn't take on too much. His agent failed him. He became overwhelmed resulting in or furthering the mental health decline which culminated in this performance and the 5 year break that followed
I hate being the “Umm, actually” guy but Bo didn’t write the Pringles and Burrito sections to be metaphors for anything. Bo wrote them as silly, first world problem misdirects. I get why so many people project these additional layers onto this song (it’s right up there as his best work for me) but unfortunately thats just not accurate. Bo did an AWESOME interview with Vulture a couple years after this came out and spoke directly on those 2 subjects that people were interpreting as metaphors. He didn’t intend them to be and even claimed that if there was a connection, it wasn’t intentional. I promise I’m not trying to rain on your parade or be a dick…I’ve brought this up on other reactions to this song and it’s general dissolved into pointless bickering lol. I don’t want that…it’s just important to me as a fan of Bo’s work that we see what’s actually there instead of what we want to be there. Like I said, I’m a HUGE fan of Bo’s…and a lot of his work touches on this kind of thing. There’s the artist, the art itself, and the audience that experiences that art. Bo’s keenly aware of how the intent of the artist can get lost in translation between artist and observer. We gotta take that part of his work into consideration too ya know? Like I said, it’s not my intention to rain on your parade…just wanted to give a different perspective on it. Cheers
@Uncle Foot Pringles is just a funny bit but not the Chipotle section. That's why he says "You can tell then anything if you make it funny, make it rhyme". He's using the Chipotle as a joke to convey his career issue. And if they still don't get it, then you hit them one more time. Listen to it again
@@phyar7194 I get that angle. It makes sense…but, once again Bo said it’s not related. He did extend an olive branch in the interview I referenced and said that maybe he did something subconsciously when he was writing it but I have to take him at his word. How I interpret the: “You can tell them anything if you just make it funny, make it rhyme. And if they still don’t understand you then you run it one more time” line is within the context of what lead up to it. He poured his heart out and spoke his truth. He can’t handle doing this anymore. He can’t take the pressure and pain of it. But he can’t stop, he still has a job to do…he still has to give the audience the night out that they deserve. hence the “I should probably just shut up and do my job so here I go”. The lighting changes to the single floodlight behind him and he goes back into the burrito lines. You can’t see his face, only his silhouette. That could be interpreted as he is no longer speaking his truth, he’s back to being just another faceless entertainer. Then he gives the line you referenced. I take that as “You don’t care about me. You don’t know the half of what I as a human being am dealing with. I could tell you anything and as long as it’s entertaining you’ll be happy. But I’m not happy…and I’m going to speak my truth one more time in the hopes that you understand.” And then the lights go nuts and you see his face again as he reprises: “I can’t handle this right now” Or at least that’s how I interpret it…art is subjective after all. I really do recommend you watch the interview he did where he talked about it. Just in general it’s a fascinating dive into his writing process. Here’s a link to it, the convo about the burritos starts at around the 11:20 mark. th-cam.com/video/eOABIabgRCg/w-d-xo.html
Yes he’s a comedian. He has Three Netflix specials that if you watch in order, you’ll see his mental health decline, eventually leading to this panic attack at the end of this video. After 5 years, when he was ready to return, COVID happened, so he made the netflix special “Inside” and you just watch him degrade isolation. It’s genius, sad, and a piece of art.
That moment you realise the Pringles and burrito thing is his radio clean way of saying he doesn’t fit in with the industry… His hand doesn’t fit… the filling doesn’t fit and how it’s affecting his mental health 😢 “I don’t think I can handle this right now”
I like the idea the chipotle section is mirror for his experience with the TH-cam, stand up comedy, and TV side of entertainment and everyone wanting to make a buck with no concern for his personal well-being.
Been waiting!!!!! Thank you. I'm sure this wasn't easy to get out. Bo is very serious about people using his content. Ps. I'm sure everyone else said something about the metaphors
1) the pringles are innocence 2) the burrito is his career 3) I’d watch a whole other video of you weighing in on the metaphors 4) I feel like he started this bit as the perfect empathetic roast of Kanye, but it got too personal 5) people have touched on this but I believe this was his last show before a five year break on account of having panic attacks every time he got on stage. For the other end of that arc, see “all eyes on me”
Bo is a masterful comedian, both musically and with his deep wit fused with introspection. To put it in fighting terms, he'll throw a couple feints and get you comfortable just to sneak an uppercut to the gut and his you with some real shit so you'll laugh, cry, and leave with more questions than when you first started. Some have already mentioned this was his last show before Inside. "All Eyes On Me talks pretty much about this performance. Having panic attacks on stage and you can see him getting overwhelmed in the last refrain. It's why I feel gut punched every time he says "Thank you, I hope you're happy."
Since you are putting comedy music on this channel, I know you know some of these but these are the artists on my playlist: Bo Burnham, weird Al yankovic, lonely Island, tenacious d, Cheech and Chong, Tim Minchin, SNL, southpark, Monty Python, key & Peele, Dave Chappelle, Whitney Avalon, teamfourstar, key of awesome, epic rap battles, Adam Sandler, Rodney Carrington, ssj, and one from Carlos mencia. My personal playlist has four hundred songs that I have carefully picked from these artists.
@@cameronjadewallace NSP are good. They sound so normal that it fries the brain to convince you it's not a joke. Starbomb's animated videos mixed with the good sound brings the smiling vibes. Ty again.
I think as much of the beginning is his version of a ‘Kanye rant’ to set up a comedy scene, is actually all of the small things that shouldn’t be that big of a deal, but because of his mental state, are crippling to him. Hence ‘can’t handle this right now’
This man is a genius and I love everything he's done the Pringles can is the industry not allowing 99% of people get to where they wanna go the burrito is his like and fame overloading it till it all falls apart bo took a 5 year break after this because of his anxiety and panic attacks on stage and to work on his mental state
He talks about not being able to fit either inside a container too small and is later pouring out of another and is crying for help. Poor dude doesn’t know what to do with himself and is told to shut up and do his job.
The Pringles thing is he talking about life, the Chipotle thing also is he talking about life cuz, u know... If they still don't understand you, then we run it one more time. (Then comes the time to breakin down 4 you.)
Pretty sure this was the gig/song where Bo went off stage and had a mental breakdown/panic attack for two hours after this. Bo has issues with depression and this bit was a jab and how pathetic kanye is yes, but it's so layered and deep for him personally.
The burrito and the lettuce and all that is an analogy for his success. He wanted to be accepted and wanted make people laugh, he just had no idea all the troubles that came with it.
Pringle cans are a feminist plot to improve the public's 2-finger skills. Pull your hand out of the can with a chip and look at your fingers. G-spot position.
It's actually crazy if you think about the lyrism. He isn't just talking about pringles cans and burritos, those are metaphors for the much heavier problems he goes on about later in this piece. " I don't think that I can handle this right now" can - pringles can, handle - can't get your hand, into the pringles can to handle the chips. With the burrito, talking about how he wouldn't have taken half this shit if he had known it was going to come spilling out. In the same way that he wouldn't have taken on half the responsibilities of a public figure/ well known comic if he had known the mental stress would have spilled out and ruined other portions of his life. This was his last live performance over 5 years ago, and he stop preforming because he was having panic attacks on stage during his sets. That's what he is referring to when he talks about steadily declining mental health. So although, yea you're correct, he is just doing it to make fun of Kanye, I think he's also using it as a huge form of self outlet and emotional offloading.
I'm confused. What is this channel? MrLboyd Reacts is the normal reaction chanel for this guy. I was sure that I had seen him react to this before on that channel (although I might be wrong) but it looks like it has been recently taken down. I'm pretty sure this channel is just reposting the content from his other channel
Oh, didn't even notice. I assumed it was reacts. He explains it in a video on the home page here. I think it basically said for notifications people wanted the music split out from the other content.
None of us are fully functional...at least not all the time. Show me a single person that has no mental health issues...I think we all have some. The first time I heard this song, I cried because I can just hear his pain. He's crazy good at what he does, but he has issues, too. To be fair, on top of any issues he had beforehand, Kanye has to be even more messed up after spending so much time around the Kardashian clan.
4:10 and later you think he's still on the same thing, but boy he moved on btw I'm sure a lot of people have said it by now but, the burrito is his life and career, the Chipotle employee is the show business guys who should have tell him that celebrity and attention would be to much. And now it spills out and he cannot handle it.
It’s funny that from this you call him a ridiculous person because all the stuff that made him famous before this is far more ridiculous and also my favorite Bo material. His lyricism even early on was so ridiculous. He fits so many clever references in his rap style songs that it’s impossible to catch them all. I appreciated the hell out of that. It was crass and crude and funny and today he tries to run as far as he can away from it because he’s above that now, and I think he sucks for that. It’s my favorite stuff and if he hadn’t done it there would be no audience today for his “high brow” “inclusive” art.
Go back to the Golden age of TH-cam we're here when Bo was a kid and his room making these videos.. they've been on TH-cam for the last 16 yrs just look it up he has videos where he raps kinda follow this guy's career
Art needs two things to work, Message and Aesthetic. If it's just a Message, it's propaganda., only Aesthetic then it's decoration. This song was Art and I loved it
Can't belive this 'reactor" needed to constantly read lyrics for this. I think he missed the entire premise of this. You should check out Knox Hill's real review of this. This was the worst review I've ever seen of Bo's Kanye Rant... 0/10 this is another example of why reactors are getting canceled... Goodluck guy
Looking at this from the level of watching a comedian, it's easy to miss the depth of the song. A bit harsh to say this is the reason why reactors get canceled. Knox does have a great breakdown of this song, so does the third ernest. But again, saying a "real review" is disingenuous. His review might be surface level and not up to your standard, but it is his review and is just as real as any others. Honestly, its about the same as most people who have reviewed the song.
@Brad D. whatever "Brad". Dude just watched the video straight through with minimal addition to the content. That's called theft of content. Hense, the reason "reactors" are getting canceled.
@@Mike024ipi even minimal commentary is still commentary, so no it isn't media theft. You didn't like it, and that's your opinion. Sure, I would say he didnt pit in full effort or wasn't as attentive as usual, but that isn't cause to be hypercritical and shit on the channel. You may have watched several to dozens of reactions to this song, and have a biased opinion about how someone should react to it. This appears to be dude's first listen through of it, and picking up the layers of the song isn't easy when you go in expecting a comedian. You do seem to have a very negative personality, so trying to reason more than this is futile. Have the day you deserve.😊
@@bradleylawrence658 that I can agree with. Typically Mr. Loyd is very quick to point out the small nuances of a song and pick apart layers. This one wasn't quite up to the same standard. I just think shitting on the channel for a video not up to a made up standard is just cheap and unnecessary.

How I interpret the:
“You can tell them anything if you just make it funny, make it rhyme. And if they still don’t understand you then you run it one more time”
line is within the context of what lead up to it. He poured his heart out and spoke his truth. He can’t handle doing this anymore. He can’t take the pressure and pain of it. But he can’t stop, he still has a job to do…he still has to give the audience the night out that they deserve. hence the
“I should probably just shut up and do my job so here I go”.
The lighting changes to the single floodlight behind him and he goes back into the burrito lines. You can’t see his face, only his silhouette. That could be interpreted as he is no longer speaking his truth, he’s back to being just another faceless entertainer.
Then he gives the line you referenced. I take that as
“You don’t care about me. You don’t know the half of what I as a human being am dealing with. I could tell you anything and as long as it’s entertaining you’ll be happy. But I’m not happy…and I’m going to speak my truth one more time in the hopes that you understand.”
And then the lights go nuts and you see his face again as he reprises:
“I can’t handle this right now”
Or at least that’s how I interpret it…art is subjective after all. I really do recommend you watch the interview he did where he talked about it. Just in general it’s a fascinating dive into his writing process. Here’s a link to it, the convo about the burritos starts at around the 11:20 mark.

This hits so hard after you have watched All Eyes on Me
Really glad I was able to see the Make Happy Tour live before he stopped preforming 😢
That moment you realise the Pringles and burrito thing is his radio clean way of saying he doesn’t fit in with the industry…
His hand doesn’t fit… the filling doesn’t fit and how it’s affecting his mental health 😢
“I don’t think I can handle this right now”
Bo is a comedy musician is basically the closest way to describe it
bo brought the fan in lol. he recorded the close up parts w the fan solo after the performance to get exactly the effect he was going for.
he walked off that stage, had an anxiety attack, and disappeared from plublic life for years
I like the idea the chipotle section is mirror for his experience with the TH-cam, stand up comedy, and TV side of entertainment and everyone wanting to make a buck with no concern for his personal well-being.
The follow up to this on the Inside Special is All Eyes On Me.
The Pringles and chipotle was a metaphor for all the negative things that aren't disclosed when it comes to newly acquired fame
Been waiting!!!!! Thank you. I'm sure this wasn't easy to get out. Bo is very serious about people using his content.
Ps. I'm sure everyone else said something about the metaphors
1) the pringles are innocence
2) the burrito is his career
3) I’d watch a whole other video of you weighing in on the metaphors
4) I feel like he started this bit as the perfect empathetic roast of Kanye, but it got too personal
5) people have touched on this but I believe this was his last show before a five year break on account of having panic attacks every time he got on stage. For the other end of that arc, see “all eyes on me”
No one seems to mention he directed an incredible movie after that.
Since the tour is make happy. I think the Pringle’s can is about happiness. Hence people have kids to complete their lives ect.
Been waiting for this for a year bro damn lol
Bo is a masterful comedian, both musically and with his deep wit fused with introspection. To put it in fighting terms, he'll throw a couple feints and get you comfortable just to sneak an uppercut to the gut and his you with some real shit so you'll laugh, cry, and leave with more questions than when you first started. Some have already mentioned this was his last show before Inside. "All Eyes On Me talks pretty much about this performance. Having panic attacks on stage and you can see him getting overwhelmed in the last refrain. It's why I feel gut punched every time he says "Thank you, I hope you're happy."
i cant believe people clapped in that initial moment where he was open.
I know you've done a lot of Bo, but I don't think you've done the Words Words Words video yet...highly recommend.
He left the scene for years after this performance
Awesome reaction.
Love this one, never gets old... so deep n heartbreaking!
Always a deeper layer to Bo's stuff.
BOOOOO ISSSSS THE MANNNNN
Since you are putting comedy music on this channel, I know you know some of these but these are the artists on my playlist: Bo Burnham, weird Al yankovic, lonely Island, tenacious d, Cheech and Chong, Tim Minchin, SNL, southpark, Monty Python, key & Peele, Dave Chappelle, Whitney Avalon, teamfourstar, key of awesome, epic rap battles, Adam Sandler, Rodney Carrington, ssj, and one from Carlos mencia. My personal playlist has four hundred songs that I have carefully picked from these artists.
Crazy that Ninja Sex Party and Starbomb aren't on your playlist... Huh
@@cameronjadewallace are those the artists? If you just turned me on to more comedy music I praise your f****** name.
@@Chetloore :3 I'm always pleased to introduce people to my favorite bands
@@cameronjadewallace NSP are good. They sound so normal that it fries the brain to convince you it's not a joke. Starbomb's animated videos mixed with the good sound brings the smiling vibes. Ty again.
@@Chetloore always
This is like super old though but still good. My man is over his anxiety much better it seems now
God's Perspective is great also.
I thought you already did this one
I think as much of the beginning is his version of a ‘Kanye rant’ to set up a comedy scene, is actually all of the small things that shouldn’t be that big of a deal, but because of his mental state, are crippling to him. Hence ‘can’t handle this right now’
This man is a genius and I love everything he's done the Pringles can is the industry not allowing 99% of people get to where they wanna go the burrito is his like and fame overloading it till it all falls apart bo took a 5 year break after this because of his anxiety and panic attacks on stage and to work on his mental state
Most theatrical panic attack you'll ever see 😥
He talks about not being able to fit either inside a container too small and is later pouring out of another and is crying for help. Poor dude doesn’t know what to do with himself and is told to shut up and do his job.
He is a comedian, but mostly he just likes to put on a show. You should watch some of his jokes, or check out how he handles hecklers lol
The Pringles thing is he talking about life, the Chipotle thing also is he talking about life cuz, u know... If they still don't understand you, then we run it one more time.
(Then comes the time to breakin down 4 you.)
Metaphores. Pringles you have to to fit into. Burritos you can self order and get too much you wished for !
You should do welcome to the internet or the chicken by bo he is a genius by fitting serious commentary in-between comedy with musuc
Kanye finally found a topic he could stick to recently. Unfortunately, it was a horrible one.
Bo doesn’t need auto tune… just part of the joke.
He wanted to be accepted and wanted make people laugh, he just had no idea all the troubles that came with it.
the best part of these reactions is when Bo turns from just F'ing around to, let's get a bit real for a minute.
Pringle cans are a feminist plot to improve the public's 2-finger skills. Pull your hand out of the can with a chip and look at your fingers. G-spot position.
JEFF was HERE... MOISTILY
@@techpunked ah thanks for that. I was worried this was someone stealing his work. Glad that's not the case
hes a genius of a comedian, has massive depression though, very talented, he does all the music and tuning and playing all the music
And then he quit. Got that much needed time.
(Can)'t (Hand)le This Right Now
None of us are fully functional...at least not all the time.
Yay more reuploads
4:10 and later you think he's still on the same thing, but boy he moved on
btw I'm sure a lot of people have said it by now but, the burrito is his life and career, the Chipotle employee is the show business guys who should have tell him that celebrity and attention would be to much. And now it spills out and he cannot handle it.
He is both in one.
I'm still conflicted in my own opinion as to BOs best between this and "we think we know you"
It’s funny that from this you call him a ridiculous person because all the stuff that made him famous before this is far more ridiculous and also my favorite Bo material.
You should react to the Antagonist by Lil Dicky!
Go back to the Golden age of TH-cam we're here when Bo was a kid and his room making these videos.. they've been on TH-cam for the last 16 yrs just look it up he has videos where he raps kinda follow this guy's career
Welcome To The Internet by Bo Burnham please 💖
Oh you already reacted to it never mind. You rock!
he was having panic attacks on stage! good chance the footage has him mid attack
Always a hint of sadness in Bo's content.
Love how he had to pull up lyrics
😅🤦♂️
Dident you react to welcome to the internet ?
Did you ask if he was a comedian. Yes. lol You've been covering his songs and you didn't know he was a comic.
Please listen to Bo Burnhams welcome to the internet.
he is a pure soul he could be the next Damien ill follow him to hell lol!
Can you react to the artist deftones?
Yo, what happened? Why is the oldest video on your channel from three weeks ago? Ik I’ve been watching longer than that.
Quit. Looking at me. O.o
Autotune always sounds hilarious to me. It instantly equals 0 talent to me.
Art needs two things to work, Message and Aesthetic. If it's just a Message, it's propaganda., only Aesthetic then it's decoration. This song was Art and I loved it
I think he’s reading ahead in the lyrics which ruins the jokes. It’s about delivery. Ugh.
so you reading the lyrics from a script instead of watching the video, yes totally makes sense
Love your videos, another great reaction :)
@@bradd.1339 It's just kind of disappointing to see an intelligent dude have something fly over his head.
@Brad D. whatever "Brad".
I just think shitting on the channel for a video not up to a made up standard is just cheap and unnecessary.
i know for sure that you have reactet to this before. you are just reuploding for clics
