- We take a close look at the MN Model MN222. The MN222 is a 1/10th scale RC crawler, or trail truck, and it looks absolutely amazing! So does it perform as well as it looks, or is just another MN Model RC that lets you down? No BS review and I'll tell you what I think.

I said in the video it is a 55kg servo, it is actually a 55g servo.
Great presentation Corey. NM's doing great and high detailed cars for a budget price. The ESC for sure should be changed. The position of the power button's annoying
Thanks! I was debating on whether or not to upgrade it and but caved last night and ordered a 1080 and some scale shocks
just watched your latest vid on this , you've made a big difference to it sofar 👍👍😀😀👌👌
Appreciate you checking them out!
I can honestly say that the HB Toys R1011 Jeep is a PoS. The first one I had, the ESC shorted out & caught on fire 🔥 it screwed up the transmission when it did. Never got it wet. The 2nd one I got, the inner rear axle shaft stripped out during it's first run. Sent both back & got refunds.
Yeah I recall you mentioning that about the ESC, shame that the second one was also a lemon.
Just put 1060 HW on my mn222, change transmitter, and servo. And it pretty good performance 🔥
I wasn't sure how much of it was the transmitter/ receiver but I was considering it a possibility. I'm currently running a HW 1080, I upgraded the shock towers and added Desert Lizards shocks. I get a lot more travel but now I'm getting tire rub on the passenger side because of the 4-link suspension with Chassis mounted servo. Tomorrow I'm going to pull out the motor and check the pinion gear as well, the motor seems to run really hot.
BTW, I saw your review this morning. Nice job!
@@YARCWest Yes, it is indeed a problem that the tire meets the shock when we turn. And when we change the motor, the gearbox will be damaged, it happened to my mn999 too. I think it should be changed to a reverse gearbox.
@@YARCWest thanks mate 🔥🔥
Yeah there doesn't seem to be any gear reduction so the truck goes way faster than it needs to
I got into the hobby with WPL, I think that between WPL and MN they are great vehicles for "how to upgrade every part". I dont even mean that in a bad way, I learned a ton upgrading them and never worried about messing them up because they were inexpensive to begin with. I would buy this, knowing what i know now (and from this video) fully expecting to have to upgrade parts. Great review, looking forward to the ESC upgrade!👍
Appreciate you watching! Those are all fair and good points, theoretically the ESC upgrade should be a breeze and pretty inexpensive also. The truck seems to have everything else already in place. Minus the weird 4-link suspension in the front with a chassis mounted servo
The wingnuts... the esc squealing for it's life... the 4 link frontend with... CMS...? that was something! xD
haha yeah turns out my reluctance to by anything MN Model was very well placed. Appreciate you checking it out!
Been watching your R1011 vids, and stumbled on this one too. Should I get HB or MN for my first RC?
Appreciate you checking out the vids! If it was between the R1011, R1001, and MN222, I would recommend the R1001. If you wanted to put $100 into the R1001 I don't think you would regret it. If you put $100 into the MN222 it would still not be as good as the stock R1001. Conversely, the MN222 is an SCX10.2 clone chassis, so there are tons of upgrades available, particularly from Injora. However, $100 into the MN222 would still come up short of the R1001. For the R1011 you're really paying $100 extra for the light bar, Wrangler body, and independent locking diffs, all the electronics are the same as the R1001. If I was forced to pick between the R1011 and the MN222, I would take the R1011.
For your first RC car though (first trail truck, crawler), I would recommend the Axial Basecamp. You will not be disappointed with it's capability, there are endless amounts of aftermarket parts, plus there are scale hard bodies available for when you want to get rid of the Tacoma knock off body.
Awesome Unboxing and Review my Friend!!!
Indeed is a Cool mini Jeep!!!
🐻❄️🏆🐼👌🏻
Thank you 🤗
You're welcome my Good Friend 🎉!
Cheers ❤
Nice budget RC👌😉💪😁
It certainly looks good
In your honest opinion, is this MN222 worth getting ?
I think your money is better spent elsewhere, at a minimum you're going to need to replace the ESC
@YARCWest replacing a ESC is the same as replacing the steering servo. Is this rc vehicle heavy or light weight ? I'm looking for a sturdy well built rc Jeep that doesn't cost a fortune. Most people replace the wheels, tires, servos & ESC anyways.
The body is heavy and is a hardbody, it is on the early SCX10.2 platform so there are upgrades available to it. If you're okay with replacing the ESC, Motor, Servo, Shock Towers, Shocks, fixing the front suspension to 3-link with pan hard (axle mounted wont work since there is not enough space), then I would say go for it, but you're going to put around +$150 into it. There is nothing wrong with the chassis and drive train, it is everything else that is a problem. In follow up videos I do some upgrades on it but it is still not near where I want it to be. It is okay for a light trail truck after those upgrades but seems like a money pit with all the stuff I still need to do with it. It is not terrible after all that, there are simply better trucks out there. Have you considered an Injora roller and putting one of their hardbodies on it? I can't vouch for how easy it would be but I know picking my own electronics would be light years better. I don't want to dissuade you but I would not recommend this truck unless you have the extra cash to fix it.
I think it has low speed and high speed and low speed can give you greater modulation
It certainly acts like it but the gear box is only single speed and it doesn’t seem to be setup for high and low gear
nice
Thanks!
holy crap that beep is annoying thats a deal breaker
Yeah bottom of the barrel ESC there
mn222 product failed
I agree
MN22 .,Esc very nois 😢
yeah, very distracting
Wow hands down the most annoying sounding crawler I've seen. Its like the horn is stuck on. I'd by a new ESC at the same time as I bought the truck after watching this vid. the good thing is it looks like the ESC and receiver are separate.
Loudest one I’ve ever heard, louder than a HW 1040
4 link front with a chassis mounted servo?
Yup! No pan hard bar, 4-link with a chassis mounted servo, certainly an odd design choice!
