@@extreme905 Oh, I wasn't aware of that Interesting that they still did their background/scene planning stuff on animator's paper, just got a planning sketch in recently of Manic climbing down a ladder, though he's just an outline with the bg pretty detailed
Problem is, cels need to be stored correctly, in an air-conditioned environment to avoid damage. (it cringes me to no end to see furries hoarding DiC cels in their boiling hot San Francisco homes in frames exposed to direct sunlight) It does the fans no good if the entire production work is found, but in a ruined state.
It's my dream to own a nice Zelda cel of Link but most of them were sold off in the 2010's. Only results are from Worthpoint, same with the Takara Adult Link plush. I was born too late to be a part of any of these. 😂
This explains why The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin cels are missing, I would absolutely love to own some cels from it, but most cels are gone or completely damaged. Most I've seen are merged to other cels or backgrounds and apparently quite a few were fished out of a dumpster.
This is the case with a lot of shows. As he said in the video, studios saw cels as tools not money makers. Also even those cels still existed, they probably will not be worth a lot. When was the last time you heard someone talk about Teddy Ruxpin?
That first excuse listed is sadly understandable to SEGA on other matters. The characters from SATam & the comics are stubbornly popular compared to the mundane characters introduced into the sonic games besides the occasional hit like Shadow or Blaze jealously making out America as better in managing the expanding franchise so “retiring” that branch even in nostalgic merchandising forces new players to buy our in-house creations Wether it be the racing games that should have a expansive character roster or the history exploring anniversary-games skipping over the Freedom Fighters existence as they resurrect/invent more characters
There's a TH-cam artist that recreates cel animation using glass and enamel acrylic paints as opposed to celluloid and cel-vinyl paints. Maybe commission him for a recreation of SatAM art?
While that may sound like a neat idea on paper, replicating a drawing or painting someone else did is very hard to do. It’s like artists replicating the Mona Lisa. It won’t look exactly the same like the original. Shame a lot of cels were destroyed but at the same time, you could just take a picture of a scene you like and hang it on your wall.

That's a fact. It's kinda depressing to see many great pieces of history like this disappear.
"Both Sonic shows"
Out here ignoring Underground, I see
Sonic satam fanbrats
Well, Underground was done digitally

Just imagine how much more intense the Sonic film would've been if it were based out of the Freedom Fighter's universe.
I feel like this happens to a lot of old animation. It's either destroyed for legalistic reasons or it's destroyed in a fire.
Apparently studios would throw out many cels. Good ones were picked out and people could get them from dumpsters.

Seems Like Bothe Cool Stuff About DiC Shows (Merch & Shout Factory DVDs)
All Were Fully Sold Away From (2005-2011)

I want to find a box of sonic underground animation cells because that was the first sonic sure I ever saw and I want 5 foot sonic
After watching this video I am now starting to think I should get an Inspector Gadget animation cel soon.
You forgot to mention Sonic Underground, which I am making a reboot.
So what’s up with Underground’s cells?
Sonic Underground was digital. It wasn't made with cels.
MarioMario64646464 Oh, huh, I didn’t know that. Thanks for telling me

How much for your Robotnik cel?
I think they are not selling the art due to how rare they are -
