To give an idea of how garments fit on me and what ease I wear them with, here are my measurements:
- 88cm / 34" bust

A thought about the knitting slump....when things haven't gone right for me I just choose a skein from stash that I really want to try, cast on and start knitting a swatch. It gives me the chance to get to know how the yarn behaves, what needle size gives me a fabric I like and whether it works in lace/cables or texture. Only then do I start matching the yarn with a pattern. I rarely knit with the recommended yarn, so that adds a level of uncertainty to the process, and I've found to my cost that when pre-conceived ideas don't work out, I get disheartened. So, why not try pulling a beautiful skein from your stash and just starting knitting without thinking too much?
And regarding the Pressed Flowers - of your two options, I much prefer the rose colour. I feel that the blue might 'kill' the subtle colours, as would grey. If you wanted a neutral, I'd try a warm brown. Or even a green? Have fun, whatever you choose.

On Andrea Mowry's sleeves, I can tell that my Stripes! definitely has skinny arms, the one defect I would like to correct in my version is the tight bind off at the cuffs that made it worse. But these circular yoke and 3/4 sleeves ones are very pretty and I love their fit, that's why the Pink Velvet is in my queue as well. Btw, the Stripes! might be one that will line up with your current taste for neutral ease and 3/4 sleeves and a "easy but interesting" pattern. Plus you can use scraps. I really enjoyed knitting it. The circular yoke make the stripes somewhat curved as well, and it gets more flattering than straight stripes for many feminine bodies.
As for the shawl, it really boils down to what you aim. Doing with the navy would provide a lot of contrast, but maybe go for a warmer shade of blue, because the colors in the Pleiades colorway seem a warmish.
The rose will bring it all together and maybe be more suitable for your personal palette (as I remember, you were considering being a Summer).
Another option is cream or off-white. It might sound plain at first, but it will really make the flowers the center of the attention and making them shine in spite of not having that much contrast. In terms of a neutral, it would definitely match the variegated yarn way more than a grey.
Another factor to consider is how much of a given color between your options you already have in your wardorbe, and if you really want another piece on a similar colour or not
Magnolia Bloom by Camilla Vad - such a fun pattern and a quick sweather knit. Great for when you want to be entertained without overthinking. I am almost done with my first one and already planning nr. 2, maybe I will skip the baubles for the second one to mix it up. I am new to your channel, so I am sorry if you have already done this one and I missed it :)
Thanks so much for another ace podcast! Your poet scarf is stunning!!!!! The colour is beautiful and somehow shows off the pattern, it's such a work of art. I hadn't heard about about Sari Nordlund before watching your podcast and now I adore her patterns, and that's such a great idea to start with her accessories as her sweaters are a bit overwhelming for me. I really like your Anker tee and the final product will be a cohesive staple wardrobe item that you'll be able to wear when the weather catches up. Your Pink Velvet yoke is incredible!!!!!!! I would never have thought of that colour combination and Wow! It's so great! You've definitely inspired me to add it to my queue! The suri looks divine and contrasts so well with the blue. I really feel like you've learnt so much and are feeling so much more confident about colour, and you're making incredible choices that now I just copy you! Happy birthday, and I'm so glad you got to go back to Belgium for a visit, that's so great! Also, how did your entries go in your local farm / sheep / wool competitions? Happy late birthday! I really like the yarn you chose for the pressed flower shawl. I like the pink yarn. I think you can also do like a yellow or a teal color too! Love your videos! I also get nervous filming videos too. It takes me some time to start and set up but once I start I love talking about knitting and watching and editing the videos ☺

Hi When you held your two beautiful pieces of knitting up just now I was amazed at how much more textured and crunchy the unfinished piece was. The blocked piece of work looked flat and lifeless. I say this as someone who does not block anything ! I lightly steam it if at all . I just think the pulling and stretching into shape something you’ve taken time and trouble let alone the expense of the yarn is spoiled by wetting and pulling it. Also flat knitted garments look very shop bought, which defeats the object of making something unique for you , knowing you will be the only person with that garment.Anix🍓

Have you done a Pressed Flowers project before? I made two hats last winter with a very colorful Zauberball as contrast. Your main color will dominate- that is, determine the overall piece, so factor that in, choosing a good contrast. One of my hats was an oatmeal neutral, and the other I chose a good strong bright blue. A friend made the scarf, and though it’s a lovely soft effect, you have to really look to see the difference in colors. Can’t wait to see which you choose-the Knitting for Olive shades are so lovely!

I like the direction of a darker blue for the pressed flowers shawl, but I think maybe leaning in more of a teal or greener-toned blue direction would suit your contrast really well!

Re: your turtle dove, I’m not sure if this pattern will be a lot different, but I was short on yarn when I made my poet scarf and I had to do my switch to decreasing early… and I can tell you, I love the end result! It’s more of a scarf than a mini-shawl- I think it looks great tied around my neck, a bit jaunty, a bit French-chic :) I totally understand the slump feeling, but you might be happy with the smaller scarf in the end :) Good luck!
Ps- again, maybe it’s different for the turtle dove, but for the poet it was pretty straightforward to figure out where I needed to join the decrease chart- I don’t remember exactly, but it was something like: I was at row 25 of the increase chart, so I just joined at row 26 (or there about) of the decrease chart.
PPS- (sorry for all of the replies to myself- I am commenting while I’m watching, which gives me the feeling of conversation 😊 but I can imagine it’s a bit annoying for reading 🙈) For the Andrea Mowry chart that is “backwards,” maybe you could take a screenshot of the chart and then invert the colors?

Did you know Katt Weaver's Thonnan top is now available individually on Ravelry? You can use your hand dyed yarn for that sweater. (I used less than 400 yards for mine and that's with 3/4 sleeves)..

Very nice to hear what you have been up to, as always ☺️. I think the colour on you is beautiful, especially with the new hair colour. If I were you, I’d definitely repeat knitting in that colour. Maybe something for colder weather, so you always have one item in your wardrobe in that colour you can put on no matter the season. Probably a cardigan 🙂.
In terms of patterns, maybe the Jenny jacket (made it and love it) or the Bindweed cardigan (very high up in my “next knit” list) fit the bill of what you are looking for? 🙂

Thanks, Vanissia, for a this podcast. I like the dove gray/gray blue idea but that's my coloring which is different than yours so please do what intuitively feels just right for you. And who says we have to knit all the time. Sometimes it's time to watercolor or read or hike or write poetry. You can podcast on those things if you are worried about the podcast. Just my opinion.

I was recently in a knitting slump where I didn’t know what I wanted to knit and what I did cast on didn’t work out. I ended up getting all my yarn out to get inspired by it and thinking what projects I could knit with it, which really helped me, and then I reorganising it afterwards 😊
For future videos have you considered doing themed ones, for example favourite summer yarns, or favourite woolly yarns? Or perhaps favourite patterns that you’ve knitted?
ohhhh maybe ill do that, although i can imagine it stressing me out, to have it all disorganised aha ! And yes, good videos ideas, thanks !

Hi Vanissia ! Nice to see you back and a very belated Happy Birthday!! Your blouse no 1 looks absolutely gorgeous on you, and such a perfect color.Plus I love all of your hand-dyed projects (keep it up with the beautiful shawls!) and the Andrea Mowry colorwork yoke is just spectacular! Pattern suggestion for if you want something with some fun interest followed by some comforting stockinette - have you ever knit a Ranunclus? I resisted knitting one for a long time because it was just SO popular, plus I found all of the yarn weight and gauge options to be so confusing. Late last year, however I took the plunge and cast on the smallest size using DK weight yarn (Wooly Knit Yarn2Cone fingering weight merino held double) and a US size 10.5 needle and I ended up with a beautifully fitted sweater with just a bit of ease for my size 36 chest). I made a second one that you can see in my profile photo here, both are long sleeves.. For the flower shawl, I vote for the blue yarn to go with your hand-dyed. I hope that your weather improves Vanissia and that you get to enjoy some of the summer. I feel stuck inside here too in Massachusetts, but because it is 90 degrees and incredibly humid! Enjoy your extra knitting time ☺️

You may have already had this tip but when I long tail cast on, I use the inside and outside of the cake to do it. I usually cut the center pull because I prefer working from the outside of the cake 😊
aw yes, i heard of this, but never want to do it, as it's more ends to weave in and this yarn is very slippery so i was worried ends would come undone easily ! But I will definitely try and do it next time !
Hi there a case in point , the sweater your wearing is supposed to have a soft rolling edge around your neck but instead has a flat pressed looking finish. The stitches are not alive any more. Think about it the next time you get those blocking pins out .Anix 🍓
In theory, for the shawlette, since it’s mirrored I think… if you got to say row 7 of 15 of the increase chart, you ‘should’ be able to start on row 8 of 15 of the decrease chart and it would line up right. 😊

Lovely podcast! Please don't beat yourself up over this knitting funk. I don't think the "caged lion" feeling helps in this, so maybe focus on getting out when you can, and just knit on the things you do feel happy about :)
For the pressed flowers scarf (which I think is a lovely mix of not having to worry about gauge etc but still using brain power) I would choose the rosy colour, as I think the navy option might give a harsh contrast, because it's very different from the handdyed both in hue and in value

I was thinking a nice rich dark brown color would really highlight the beautiful hand dyed you purchased for the Pressed Flowers shawl. Of course, I knit mine in dark brown with a very lightly speckled white and I just loved it!

The sweater you are wearing is perfect on you! I absolutely love your pink poet shawl. It is breathtaking, especially with your beautiful complexion! As far as your pressed flowers main color I thought the blue would look best, although I was thinking purple would look good with all your contrast colors in the hand-dyed. I think you would actually feel better if you cleared out some WIPS so you can enjoy the pieces you already have going.❤🧶

I love your podcast and your work is beautiful. Your blue silk sweater is stunning. I was thinking of making that blouse but strayed away from it because I don’t like boat necklines but yours looks great and makes me want to do it again. Can you tell me if silk stretches much as you wear it? I have not used KFO pure silk yet.
thank you! i think it does sag a bit and stretch, but i think holding it double is making it more stable, and it also depends on your gauge if it's loose or not ! and if there's a lot of fabric pulling. It might be a bit of trial and error to see how it behaves after block !
when I have a gazillion stitches to cast on, I do with 2 balls so I never run out, only 2 more ends to weave in.
true, it was a gamble to avoid those pesky 2 ends but learned my lesson, aha !

I love your knitwork! How old were you when you started knitting? I casually knitted for years off and on making scarves and hats occasionally. But in the last couple of years have gotten more into it. I totally relate to feeling like there is a push to knit popular patterns and to purchase more yarn, but I've committed to only working my stash and allowing myself to buy yarn for a sweater in October for my birthday.

I compared the volume to some of your other podcasts and the volume was really down on this one.
