Use braided line, pinch down the barb, tighten the drag, and point the tip of the rod right at your lure and reel smoothly.

Why use such light main line but such a heavy leader

Tarpon can fray the line very easily that’s why 30-40lb leader is ideal now as for the 8lb braid it’s basically what I can fit on a 1k size reel without giving up line capacity

Sometimes it’s fun to use the light tackle but I can agree the bass reel is not something I should use in the mangroves so I picked up a vanford 3000 for some stuff like this and bigger fish

I like to keep tensions when u bow you give slack and the fish can come unpinned if I ever think I need to bow I just lower my rod tip down to the side
