MASSIVE Topwater Snook Fishing

- In this episode of BlacktipH, I meet up with my friend Ryan Nitz to fish the backcountry mangroves for giant snook using topwater lures. We started sight casting these giant fish with live mullet. The fish were aggressively feeding on the surface! After hooking a few with live bait, we decided to switch to topwater lures. The first snook Ryan pitched at destroyed the lure, and from then on the rest of the day was incredible! Almost every snook we spotted and threw at tried to eat our lures.

I fish the Panama City/Mexico Beach portion of Northwest Florida all of the time (as this is where I live) and you never catch em like this here as you do down there. Love the vids!

The drone footage is great. I’ve found these laid up snook before and always thought a drone would be an ideal way to find more. Any theories on this behavior? Pre spawn or post spawn? Everyone says fish the inlets and beach in the summer but my experience over the years is the opposite. Like this video shows the monsters have some staging or resting spots. If you find them it’s crazy. Also kills all those who claim you can only use topwaters during low light conditions. They will clearly eat well in the midday sun.
