Warming up somewhat here in south Georgia Scotty. 👋👋👋☺️
I haven't forgotten you, just been on ☁️cloud 9☁️, I guess. 😊😐
For every mile you travel in an electric car it takes 4 pounds of coal 🪨 to generate enough electricity to charge your electric car battery to go just 1 mile! The Gov is closing coal mines so coal keeps getting more expensive. Where’s the savings?
You changed it from bought to controls 😂
Nothing wrong with living in a van down by the river!!!!

Got my vote!😊
I bought a converted Chevy van and I've been traveling and living in it for a year. I absolutely love it. Im more active and I have seen more in the last year then most people do in their entire lives.
I’m converting a Toyota Sienna minivan. It’s tight, but it works and I get 36 mpg.
I just bought a slide on camper for my Cummings diesel powered pickup truck, I'm in Love!!
I am seriously considering this. My neighbors are all gettin dropped by insurance companies. Taxes, all of it, when my hubby passes, heart failure, it's gone.....
Get ahead of the game n get a van now, why wait? Ya need to go out a number of times, start very simple. Cot w good pad that's high enuf 2 put crate's of stuff under. Old paint bucket & cheap toilet seat, thrift store curtains or blanket/sleeping bag affixed by adjustable pole, or staple or...across behind seats 4 privacy. U can get dollar store windshield sun shield, cut 2sz, spray paint 1side black 4 windows. U learn wat u actually need as u go. They have 1burner stoves tht burn both propane & butane, but I got like new 2burnr propane stove, super cheap on like Offer-up.
I got to tell ya Scotty, your posts are so informative and entertaining. I hope you never retire so I can continue to watch you through my retirement.
Fulltime RV life is AWESOME.
Hey. That’s Zach Zaller’s van. Cool says his dad ❤. Nice video
I just subscribed.
Compared to an RV the converted shuttle bus is one of the nicest platforms out there for vehicle dwelling with one drawback. Size. For the efficient minimalist vanlife experience I went with a Chevy van. Less room inside but park anywhere.. much more normalcy and flexibility. Nice job in the bus Zach 🤟😎
A van by the river is luxury these days
Great reference!
In the winter we are ‘down by a wash in Quartzsite’ and summer it’s a lake in Colorado
Those V10’s have a nice smooth sound.
They love gas but cheap to maintain

Cool. I have an '04 E350 extended van with a hi-top. Full size bed, fridge, micro, stove, etc. The 6.8 is great, it will pass most anything. It's been from CA to the 9 closest states and up to Alaska through Canada twice in the last 2 years. Still only has 96K on the clock. Solid AF
I have a '95 e250, was a shuttle. Removed lift & most seats. Need a minor repair 2 fiberglass top. Yep, 10mpg😖 Mine has NO umff! Only 76k Many say it Shud B good at least 300k+🙏🏼🙏🏼🙋🏼♀️
Oh we used these for our day program with special adults.
Were they reliable?
@@SooperTrooper100 The busses or the special adults?
I love that Scotty says it gets 10 MPG...I had a 2008 F350 work truck with a shell loaded with equipment and got 10 mpg whether I was pulling a trailer or not...Very dependable engine but 10 mpg is definitely what milage these get.
That's good to know. I've known some vans and campers of this size to get 8 MPG.
@@mikep4908-10, it’s still going to cost big money in gas, 50 gal tank is 150 plus on a fill up for 500 miles ! That will dent your wallet too

Another good thing about having an RV is if you have gastronomical problems and each town you go into, the restaurants cook their food differently and some are really greasy. By having an RV, you can carry and cook your food that you will not get sick on. That's what I did.
I hadn't heard that except for if you go to Mexico but you bring up a great point.@@DarkForce2024
homes on wheels are SUPER cool, I hope to make one some day.
RVs today are problematic. The warranty is where they get you. To order parts takes forever. Used is always better Scotty is right
That sounds like good advice, Scotty. When a new motorhome breaks it can sometimes take months, involving lawyers, to get warranty work done. Lehto's channel had one where the builder requires any legal challenge to be held in the state of manufacture... and the RV seller can't be sued. Then you have to deal with both the coach builder and the truck builder in a finger pointing battle. Imagine your $250K truck laid up for a year or two while shoveling money out to get any work done.
Forgot to mention it has a "Big Old Heavy Duty Rearend,".❤.
I used this in my medical transportation business as well. They are the best. I used e350 with high mileage, no issues
A roof A/C and a bumper mounted quiet generator would work perfectly for that rig
I have 480 amp hrs of litihum in mine. No need for a generator.
Roof ac! nice idea
@@cabracovehow much solar?
@@Khlandestine 200 for now, there is room for another 200. I don't have a lot of roof. Not sure I need it though, battery lasts a long time with fridge and heat being DC. Mostly cook outside. I can stay out maybe 2 weeks with some sun, by then I'm usually moving anyway, alternator charges it up.
I lived in a bus for a few months last year. What an adventure!
Did the same with a boat…. Much cheaper than the cost of this solution. 9 knots per gallon. And a diesel heater instead of a wood stove. Rarely use Marina. Anchorage is free. Sail is free movement.
Boats are cheaper than RVs?
@@Anomaly66666 yes much if you know boats and diy. Almost never use marina unless I’m putting on the hard during necessary repairs.
Dont tell me this…. What model boat do you have?
The boat a mobile home that costs less than half the cost of the average home in the USA and many other places.
@@christopherk140 what kind of boat do you have? A house boat? What brand ? What year? I live in a van conversion im aware rent and mortgage are astronomical
As a vanlifer I approve of this video 😁 We love our Econoline
I saved 9k in rent in my first year after building my tiny home trailer. That’s as much as the trailer costed to build. I’m building something like this next. I can pop my tiny home behind it and have two hotel rooms one wheels for working away from home, travelling, vacationing etc. when I leave my home can come with me or stay.
It’s coming to a point where lots of people might be living in a van down by the river ! Me included !
OH YEAH just look at all the vans parked EVERYWHERE in California, dumping 'stuff' into the roadway, back yards and the like.
@@harriettanthony7352You can list any other state as well.
I'm glad I bought my 1984 (Road Trek) Home And Park RV for $2000, 12 years ago. It does the same great vacation RV road trips as a modern one, without me being in the burden of dept.
Finding a place to legally park that free or affordable and safe is the challenge with RV/Van life.
What would you consider affordable?
I love that the guy put duallies on both sides. That's solid engineering right there.
My kind of Scotty video 👍👍👍
Im impressed how neat and clean it is inside.
There’s no such thing as fossil fuel Fossils have only been found as low as 16,000 feet. We drill for oil between 26,000 and 32,000 feet deep! We need to drop the words “fossil fuel” ⛽️ they keep telling us we have 10,000 new oil drilling leases, but a lease is worthless without a permit. We have ZERO PERMITS from this administration!! 🤷🏼♂️ We need to pass the bill HR1 to open up drilling & fracking oil! PERMITS!!!
Do you know what you’re talking bout??

today most RVs are junk
I just saw a nice one piece. fiberglass unit that looked good......I'm trying to recall the name....it was built well
@@arlen1630probably over 100k
There isn’t an RV on the market that won’t have a leaky roof in 10 years, unless we’re talking airstreams and those are super expensive
That's the price of RV self regulation
Box truck to RV is the way. Isuzu are bulletproof and get 14-18mpg all day long !
Neat thing about this van...
Its been built since 1992, and continues to be built today, with a regular fuel injected 7.3 gas engine. The last 7.3 displacement this van saw was back in the 2000s, and that's the PowerStroke. It may be a dinosaur compared to vehicles of today, but it has gauges and steering wheel from the 2017+ Super Duty, including tach, so that it somewhat stays relevant (compared to Chevy's ancient vans, its interior screams 2003 even with the updated steering wheel and tachless gauge from 2008, but they come with direct injection engines, and are built since 1996).
You should put that DOWN BY THE RIVER
😂
😂
Exactly what I was thinking ! 😂
HERE'S ME HERE'S YOU 😂😂😂
Haha!
This guy always finds a way to make great videos. He reminds me of Larry King. That's a compliment.
I love my 85 Toyota van wagon. I have a wood stove plumbed out the side window with a false window that shuts in for the chimney. No rear seats so i can put a small mattress or camping pad. Roof rack with holder for my kayak and a roll out awning on the sliding door side
This is the best! Absolute best!
I like it. Simple! Thank you for the video Scotty.
Smart young man. Ambitious and motivated!!
It is better to fix old stuff than buy new. I agree Scotty
I've been waiting for awhile for you to do vans. Thank you.
If you do van builds, you can pull off 4 wheel vans, but use e250s and up. The suspension on the e150s aren't as good as previous years. And yes use older.
You can do e150 if you keep it super light. Curb weight is 7000 on those.
I have a 2010 school bus with a 6.6l duramax LMM that I converted into a camper. I'm lucky if I can fit my hand under the hood lol I paid $5,500 for the bus almost 3 years ago and it had about 110k miles on it. I get 15mpg on avg and can do 80mph all day (not that I'd want to in a bus but it can move w highway traffic no problem) The price of MB vans and motorhomes in general is insane.
I love my f350 6.7l diesel- 20mpg regular driving, 10 mpg towing 22ft car carrier gargo trailer I've been building out while on the road w. 1500w solar, 200ah Li batteries, propane stove etc.
Truck is Only 2wd, no electronics (roll down windows etc), no a/c (my only regret). Higher upkeep costs - 13 qt oil every 5-7k miles, 2 fuel filters etc, but worth it to me! Been on the road for going on 3 years. Love it. That is a cool van! I had looked at those and ambulances but went this route.
great video! glad you got to checkout the bus
That’s your van Zac?

Good for him!
My old 2001 Crown Victoria had over 400k miles on it before I bartered it with a mechanic to work on my 1996 Ford E350 motorhome & my 1998 Ford Econoline van. The van is now just 10k short of 200k miles. "Tax that" 🤬
That Crown Vic was boss! I kinda miss the torque it had.
You can find those things really cheap on public surplus . coming this style or old school bus
Seems tempting to get the diesel but you have to deal with all that emissions crap unless it really old that you can still find parts for them
So many people are living full time in vans, cars etc .Nomads and huge amount are seniors who no longer can afford to live in homes in Social Security. To just to rent a room only here in S. CA is 750 to 1150. a month min.
💐Another alternative for seniors or anyone - other countries. Pension visa - many countries an APARTMENT for $400.00.🪻Lots of options in life.🎉
🌸One can live abroad or in Latin America and get an apartment for $400. 🎉Pension visas.🌷
Got the same sony speaker. Nice for white noise also.
Good video
For a RV with a motor and size ,you would be happier with a diesel engine and a chassis that is built above the 1&1/2 ton .Those 1&1/2 tons are used for utility vehicles ( short bus, ambulance /paramedic etc....) those chassis ares used in alot of motor home production and require alot of maintenance to run, a larger / heavier chassis like straight truck / large school bus etc... are a better choice for wear .
I sleep in a Ford Transit Connect. It’s as tiny as it gets but I spend hardly nothing on gas. Got a couple solar panels on the roof and I’ve got a microwave, a refrigerator, an Xbox, computer, heating pads, and pretty much everything I need.
If I was going to build one of these vehicles, think about a new UPS style truck. I think they cost about 50k and they are new.
Look by the airport or train tracks to find $400 /mo lots to rent with all hookups.
That is a great idea, my wife and I are waiting for the kids to move out, so we can sell our house and everything in it, then buy a small r.v and just travel all around the U.S. we never need much, we never want much an r.v is perfect.
if you want to save money on an RV and think conversions are cheaper, they arent. If you build it yourself it might be cost effective, but you also need to factor in your time and the headache of putting it together. It's not like an ikea piece of furniture.
Absolutely correct..@tyflytiny Lots of work to do a true camper conversion on an old van. I kept my van basic no water tanks at all..used external facilities.. was electric heat for the most part..plugged into employeers or friends outlet..lol
@@nohandle5544exactly, his boy has a very lavish setup. I go fishing on weekends and I just throw a mattress in the bed of my truck with a topper and pack a cooler and call it a day.

Where I put gas for the main tank is in the back but for the generator it's off to the driver side towards the middle.
Not one mechanic can tell me if it's tied together.
I would like it to be so that I could drive longer periods without stopping.
And no it didn't come with a manual. loll
These are awesome rigs that can be found relatively cheaply however good luck parking these things. Most cities have ordinances against recreational vehicles and commercial vehicles parking on streets.
SFe, NM CrList has a live-able Classic '85 RAM Camper Van 4 Sale.
I know a travel nurse who has a similar setup, but not shower or toilet. It cost her for everything, around 100k but he does have a bathroom, which is a big plus
I've been looking for a decent used RV since November as I want to try 'RV life' for a year to see if it's something I might do long term. Find a place to check out for a month or 2, then move on to another place. Won't be driving every day and will do some boondocking as well.
Only issue is overnight parking.
Gotta stealth.
So much for the land of the free.
@@Watch-0w1 Not really. Cracker Barrel, Bass Pro Shops, some Wal-Marts and other businesses that I can't remember at the moment will let you park overnight. There's also truck stops and rest areas as well. Plenty of places w/o having to be 'stealth'...
@@KG-xt4oq There's probably an app for that.

With traffic in Hawaii I don’t think a speedometer is needed.
Just picked up a 2017 Roadtrek 190 with less than 7,000 miles, built on a Chevy Express 3500 chassis. It's got everything including air conditioning and a generator. I love it for traveling but I sure wouldn't want to live in it full time. 15/16 mpg highway. I looked at diesel campervans but I didn't want to deal with extra fuel cost and expensive service when needed,
You just spent fortune on that...because you wanted to save money on gas? ....thats like these people who spend $60k on an ev because dont want to spend gas money....it doesnt really make sense..if you find one that was maintained, older really is better..
@@richsweeney1115 no I bought it because it's exactly what I wanted and easy to service at any decent shop. I had a 2005 170 for 10 years and sold it for $2,000 less than I paid so I think I got my money's worth. Brand name campervans hold their value.
Stayed tuned for "Breaking News" soon as a lost video was found from Scotty "RIP" for the 251th time this year alone 🤣😎
There where some old prison vans being sold about 5 years or so ago in the UK super cheap. I am kicking myself that i did not get one to convert into a camper.
In England cameras are going up everywhere sooner or later we will have pay per mile forced upon us. Probably a gaget like satnav fitted by law or something similar. In London it's £12 a day to move your vehicle from your drive. The government is determined to price ordinary people off the roads. More and more places are bringing in heavy charges just to drive into or through the zone, £9 per day in Bristol.

Hawaii already charges registration fees that charge by the weight, so they never lower.
I am considering selling my house and hitting the road. I own a 2016 Mercedes Benz GLC 300. It is just me and my dog. I am looking at a rooftop tent and using military base camping facilities. A grill, pots, and pans, and other items. Being prior service, I will be very comfortable. I am trying to figure out how to keep license plates on my vehicle without a permanent address.
@Bada_Boom78 I am with USAA. I bank online and received no mail from them. I do have vehicle insurance through them. I wonder how much my insurance will go up? I could probably use a friend's address in Georgia where I currently reside. It is something that I want to do. I am tired of being fixed in one location. I could very easily live the rest of my life on the road. When I grow tired of one place, move on to another.
Nothing is more annoying than fridge doors that open the wrong way; just reverse them.
I want to fix up an old school bus.
Scotty I agree ☝️ with what you say you are the best you have a great day
These vans used to idle a lot so it probably had a million total running miles on the engine

Get one of those vans with a 7.3 power stroke diesel! They get better mileage and last forever
Try finding one they dont want stupid cash for, I looked a long time. Its why I have a 6.8
YESS!!
10 MPG is not bad since that's what I get with my 2007 Chevy Express 3/4 ton work van. But it is heavy with Plumbing parts and tools in it! I'd love to find another older truck that's not all rusted out like mine is. It only has 79,000 miles on it with a factory rebuilt transmission put in at 47000 miles.Where can you find these vans? I'm guessing not in the NE! Another Chevy would fit my contoured shelving and roof racks.
