  • Blister prevention is super simple. You stop blisters by preventing blisters in the first place.
    As you will see in the video blister prevention is as simple as:
    1. getting good socks
    2. sizing your footwear correctly
    3. getting rid of pilling
    If that isn't working for blister prevention I also included how to tape your feet to completely stop blisters from happening.
    Hope this video helps you stop blisters and I hope it helps you prevent blisters.

    I got a few bad blisters recently when playing some Roller Hockey, and I came across this video. I want to say thank you so much! I followed each step from properly fitted skates to the J&J tape you recommeded. In my experince I got my skates fitted at a local shop near me, I followed all the steps to getting a skate properly fitted and ensuring that I had the least amount of negative space in the boot. My issue was I was using the Nike drifit socks and after about 4-5 months of skating my socks deteriated in the heel/ankle area and my inner heel would rub a bit on the inside of the skate taring the boot open a bit, and then thats when the blisters started. To help remove some of the heel movement you meantioned I ordered superfeet performance insoles to replace the stock ones, to help get rid of that minimal amount of negavtive space in the heel area, I also followed your advice with the socks. That one made a world of a difference. So far socks plus the insoles had me skating for hours with no hurt anywhere on my foot. Thank you man!

      It’s just awesome to read a comment like yours, thank you for taking the time to let me know this worked, and share your additional info! Pinned it so other people can read your nuanced advice. Love hearing you’re able to get more skating sessions in now pain free. It’s insane how many comments I’d get from people who got blisters and then had to pack it in…I get it, it’s so painful. But it need not be that way!
      Thanks again man, hope you have an awesome roller hockey season!!

      @@TheLastHonestInfluencer you seem like a really cool guy I just had to leave a comment. Went skating tonight and experienced first hand the correct material you want your socks to be. I scoured my drawers for the only pair of thin socks with a smooth material inside and out I could find. Barely covered the blister spot on my ankle but I went for it. Skated for a few hours and switched socks and immediately had to quit. The socks I favored thinking it would offer me more cushion atleast made things much worse, possibly dry material on wet skin was a factor but all the same. I plan on going to Walmart tomorrow and getting some plastic first aid tape and a pack of thinner socks if I can find good cotton ones. Thank you for all the advice 🙏

    I have those exact ski boots definitely gonna try some of these tricks. Thoughts on sock liners? I got a couple of pairs and I feel like it did solve the smaller blisters I was getting on my calf but the ankle ones it didn’t do anything.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      was going to mention sock liners in the video but omitted it because like you I had limited success preventing blisters by using them.
      The crazy part is, these boots were a vast improvement blister-wise from my Scarpa boots with intuition liners. 50% smaller blisters in the Solomon's. Ski-touring is crazy. Some friends have worse blisters, some none at all. I feel like there has to be an answer to this problem other than taping!

    • @degamma8
      @degamma8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheLastHonestInfluencer I am almost positive that my boots are a 1/2 size too big, but Salomon runs so narrow, that I was getting a lot of pinching in the smaller boot. But I got a screaming deal on them so I’m going to deal with them a bit longer, looking into the intuition pour-tour liners but in the mean time I’m going to clean up the piling in the ankle, and maybe get a thicker insole to take up some volume.

    I was looking for this. I had a blister on my right foot from roller skating 6 hours.

      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      6 hours!? You’re a machine!!
      The right socks make a huge difference. What I’ve found is expensive socks aren’t really the answer, it’s the material texture, composition and thickness that really counts. Keep trying different pairs till you find ones that work! You can and will be able to go 6-10 hours plus without blisters when you do. Have a good one!

    What would be your thoughts on using the waterproof tape and more wrapping heel/ankle area vs just the single piece in the blister area? I get bad blisters ski touring and I’m trying to solve. New socks are coming as a start! Thanks for the ideas!

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The ankle heel area is one of the trickiest spots to tape (in my experience). The way I solved my back of the heel blisters ski touring (the fricken worst activity for getting blisters) was to have my boots professionally fitted. It was the only way I could stop the heel rise. But as soon as I fixed that area the blisters started up on the sides like in the video.
      You can definitely give taping that area a go, it kinda works. Definitely better than nothing. One tip I can offer you that helped me there was only use one single piece of tape width-wise. As soon as I added two even the burliest tape came off mid-skin up. I still got blisters above and below the tape...but at least it wasnt a giant 1.25"x1.25" blister anymore...just little ones on the edges where the tape stopped.
      Good luck! Hope that helps!
      Oh one more thing, friends buy womens leggings from the dollar store and use those over their socks. Works for them. Didn't do shit for me tho.

    Would you suggest heat molding as a good means of breaking in new skates and preventing blisters?

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s actually an excellent question! I had my ski touring boot liners heat moulded and also my baur hockey skates…and it didn’t seem to help in terms of blister prevention.
      That said, I’m wondering if the blisters would have been even worse if I hadn’t?
      This is an excellent topic for a future video and I need to do an experiment this winter! I’m going to buy new skates and boots and NOT have them heat moulded and see if there is a difference. I always seem to lose the skin off my inner ankles right behind the bone protrusion.
      Thanks again!!
